It doesn't seem like many are truly hyped for this game. I may not get it day one but I do want to get it and it does look great, but no one seems to talk about it. There not even any reviews out yet even though it comes out in two days, and yet Final Fantasy XIII-2 has reviews from everyone. It seems as though it is kind of lost in the dust.

I love the SC series and I was super pumped about SCV but then they decided to no put Talim in the game so I said screw it. I might pick it up someday when down the road when it is cheaper but no way am I paying full price for a fighting game when they took out my favorite character

I have it on pre-order, I'm looking forward to it.

There are around 6 reviews on Metacritic, giving it from 80 to 90 for a score.

The idea of a weak single player seems to be a bit of a put off but I'm getting it to play against friends so that's not that big a deal.

the *ring out* thing is why i could never get into the sc series, i dunno it just makes a fighting game seem stupid.. if there was a way to disable it *or better idea* had it never been added to begin with i'd luv the series.

I can only speak for myself, I'm not interested in fighting games. For a fighting game though, Soul calibur would be my favorite...

never was a huge fan of SC but i did enjoy it every now and then. It just doesn't look like its changed much over the years though and imo the roster for 5 is awful. I hate just about every single new character and only like a few of the returning ones. They are missing a bunch of mainstays imo.

I think this one seems better than four. I like the fact that there are new characters. If the developers are just going to put the exact same characters in the game again and again, why buy the next title in the franchise? I like that this game has a story mode. Mode options were lacking in the last game. I will not buy the game at launch, but I will definitely play it.

I have SC 2,3 and 4. I like them all but I always thought the single player storyline was short and terrible in all of them. The games always seem to be around the 85 rating.

As for the ring out, I actually don't mind it because the stages don't always have rings, some infinite stages, the stages are pretty large, some cages and it brings another aspect in fighting. I like knocking my opponent off the cliff sometimes. And there is a lot of directional movement to avoid getting knocked out. It isn't like a 2d fighter and you push your figher out.

I think it does it much better than Virtua Fighter where a player simply just steps out the rings and loses.

I agree, I'm not a huge fighting game fan, but Soul Calibur is a great one for me. I think the reason why, you don't need true skill unlike other fighters. I'm not saying anyone can pick up the game for the first time and kick someones butt whos been playing it for how long, but it not like Street Fighter or Tekken where you have to study there move set and get everything perefect. Its just a fighting game you can have fun in and don't need a super amount of skill to pick up and enjoy the game

I agree with this also, The ring out feature, while in some games is rather annoying, in this game it adds new depth to it because you have to fend of your enemy while trying to keep in the stage, it just adds a little something to it that (while still sticking to the you don't need to much skill to play the game) strategy to the game. And if you don't like the ring out, then you pick a stage that doesnt have a ring out thing

I wish Soul Calibur V had a bigger roster. They shuld've combined all characters from past Soul Caliburs with the new characters and have like a 40+ character roster rather than just a 24 character roster :{. I have to admit though some new characters look pretty sweet.

I don't like most of the new characters aside from Ezio, and he's the freaking guest character.

i like the sc games, some of the reasons mentioned above. but main reason being when my friends come over we all could play and have fun, the moves are easier to pull than other hardcore fighting games like street fighter, so we dont just waste the whole time figuring out how to do the moves and end up just throwing punches and kicks. street figher is also a good game but i think you need real skills to enjoy the game to the fullest. having said that i probably wont get this game when it comes out, probably wait till it drops to $30 or below and then get it.

I'm sure I will get the game one of these days then again I haven't bought Soul Calibur IV yet. I do have Soul Calibur 2 & 3 I also have Soul Calibur Legends.

Soul Calibur 2 is my favorite in the series Soul Calibur Legends pretty much sucked not even Llyod being in the game helped and Soul Caibur 3 was I though was okay, but I liked Soul Calibur 2 better not sure on Soul Calibur IV or V. and haven't played the first game in the series yet.

I've been playing it all weekend, its freaking awesome! Much more balanced than SC5, the new Edge attacks seem cheep at first but they're pretty easy to predict and block once you know what to look for, the new player card system (almost like SF/MvC) is great, lots of stuff to unlock, only characters I'm really missing are Yunsung, Talim, and Zasalamel so far, the only character I've unlocked is Kilik, the new fighters are pretty diverse, of course some of them are pretty much clones (so there is basically Xinghua, Killik, Sophitia, Cassandra) But its pretty awesome.. I'm about 9 hours in, ask me anything..

He fits pretty well, other than him having a couple projectile moves (there not to bad to dodge)

For me, the ring out is great. It's always a laugh to have your friend on the verge of beating you, only to toss them out.

I hate how the story mode in SC5 can only be beaten as Patroklos. So, no more multiple endings for replay value.

I also hate how the new game mode is just another arcade type game mode. SC2 had Edge Master, SC3 had Chronicles, SC4 had the disappointing Tower, and in SC5......all the fans are getting is a special type of arcade, vs. mode, quick battle, and training mode.....that's worse than SC4's ridiculous Tower mode.

They didn't even add co-op team battles online or offline. I'll be passing this Soul Calibur by.

In my case it's the massive letdown that SC IV was.

Yeah SC IV WAS a qualitative good game that brought fun, but when you have played and loved SC III before and loved it, SC IV felt like a graphic ++ / gameplay - - - version because it felt like so much had been taken out.

If SC V should get back to the awesome quality that SC III was in terms of gameplay, music, game modes and so on then I'll buy it for sure, but I rather wait till I see some reviews saying that and test playing it myself.
