Another weak Christmas for PS3?

For the record I agree with everything Mobius has said thus far. You want to talk about people who have paid good money they worked for out of their pockets. Most people who have agree that there are too many good games to afford this fall which means christmas money will help them pick up a few more games then they would have been able to.

It's not like any of the other consoles started off booming strong in Year 1 either.

The PS3 is doing just F-I-N-E.

I wouldn't classify It as "weak"...the lack of HOME has obviously affected it, but look on the brightside there are still a couple stellar games coming out. I highly doubt Sony will reach 11million units worldwide at the end of the year...but hey thats just me.

Regardless Spring 2008 looks mighty strong, probably when I will pick up my system.

Sony didn't force you to buy a 60gig at launch. Also, you got to play PS3 for all those months before the price drop occured, so if you ask me that part was fair, and I got my PS3 around Christmas time so it's not like I bought one when the price dropped.

lol me a fanboy? i guess u missed my las tpost, i do own all 3 new GEN consoles and loves them all ( Wii a bit less i must admit) and as u mentioned people can state their opinion, and my opinion is that u guys complain way too much. that s all

and u want a refund for the price drop? lol u knew that was going to happen that s on ur head! i bought mine on launch as well knowing fully well that sony would drop the price sometime in 2007 i just wanted the console there and then, and paying the full price is what u gotta to pay to be one of the few that bought a ps3 early plain and simple.

Exactly. I paid full price for my 60GB unit in March. I feel the $100 price difference is well worth it to have enjoyed the PS3 for so long. And to have the EE chip.

Uncharted isn't a system seller, either is R&C or UT3. The rest are Multi-platform. My PS3 is useless till next year.

Sony needs something to help it stand out from the crowd. Wii has the control and youth market....360 has the installed base with solid game library.

Sony , it think, hoped bluray would be that thing to help them stand out but that isn't really having that much of an effect (people love dvds). So I really believe HOME will do that. HOME should of been availible at launchsince its been in the works for years now as a PS2 project. HOME is that thing that brings the whole networking vision to life. I see kids, women, hardcore gamers all spending lots of time on HOME much like facebook is attracting all sorts of people.

HOME will be that system seller.

Exactly you own all 3 consoles You cant' for speak for people like me I have a PS3(PS2psp/ds) thats it. You probably dont care when the PS3 games come rolling out because you'r e playing Bioshock ,gears of war, Metroid and got you're Halo 3 preorder.

There are quite a few games coming out for the PS3 that I want to get. The big question is, can I afford to buy them all? To all the people that are complaining about a lot of the games being multi-platform, what's the problem with that? It's still coming out for PS3 so technically you have your wish. Just because a game isn't an exclusive doesn't make it a bad game.

As far as games that I would like to get, I still have Call of Duty 4, Haze, Army of Two, Jericho, Folklore, Assassin's Creed, Skate, Conan, Beowulf, and The Orange Box to save up for. 10 games at $60 a pop means I have to come up with a spare $600 by the end of the year. I wouldn't call that a weak Christmas by any means.

Well, I am hanging out in this forum an awful lot. I'll only allow for 2 guesses. ;)

If Sony was going to do something about the price of the system or announce a 40gb SKU, it would NOT be right now. They want to let everyone buy up all of the 60gb models and then start moving some of the 80gb models. It's only September and if Sony is introducing a 40gb SKU for the holidays, why would the announce it tonight? It wouldn't make any sense.

They'll wait for the 60gb models to be sold out, then they will talk about price/more SKUs. It wouldn't make any sense for Sony to do it now so just wait a bit. It's the media that made everyone think tonight was the night and most people bought into it. Sony could not have possibly lived up to the hype that the media created for this keynote. Be patient guys, good things are coming. Sony isn't stupid and they will do something big for the holidays.

it doesnt mean anything, i have 3 systems, and the ps3 is still my favorite, i ll only buy single player game on my 360 for now on, since i cant stand to pay to play online it s a rip off serioulsy, M$ F U! unless halo 3 shows me it s worht it..we ll see.

GeOW is fun but it get s old, bioshock is good but is way over rated IMO some reviews gave it a 10/10 and i disagree with it.

enjoy ur ps3, alot of good games are coming by the end of this year, i ll be getting3-5 games on ps3, while i ll be getting only one for 360 and one for the wii, Halo 3 and super mario galaxy.

I cant wait for Uncharted Drakes Fortune! I think its a excellent break from the FPS Genre'. Yeah so this game and Haze and HOME, i think is an excellent line up for christmas. Lets not forget these games aren't cheap! I almost forgot there is also Assassins Creed, and Rachet and Clank!

So you only buy system sellers? If thats true your gaming for all the wrong reasons.

Also even though Uncharted and R&C aren't system sellers they will move systems this fall.

Financially, buying more than one game per month is over what I can afford. Even I have that kind of money, I won't have enough free time to play that many games.
