The game doesn't have any problems if your console is in order... Yes, it's a processor hog, but it should not drop in framerate or otherwise hiccup. If there are issues with the game on your console, you may have a problem with your console.
Things you can do on your own to keep your console nice:
- Vaccuum the ports on your machine with a regular home vaccuum. NOT OPENING IT UP - Just running a vaccuum around it, and over every opening and slot on the machine. You'd be amazed at what comes out, and how much cooler your machine runs if you do this regularly ("Regularly" translates to how dusty your place gets in the period of a month - Season to taste, if you will). Also, I advise using a vaccuum as apposed to compressed air, because a vaccuum draws particulate back out the way it got in, instead of blowing it deeper into the works.
- Make sure you have a decent air gap under as well as around your console. Set the machine with two game-cases of space under the entire underside by placing the cases under the outside bottom edges, leaving the console underside completely exposed (and a sort of "tunnel" underneath, front to back). The machine has heat syncs on the underside which help cool the boards.
Also, delete all game data and re-install. I've never heard of the game hiccuping from a bad install, but these things happen. If you don't know where all the various bits of game data are found on your XMB (user interface menu) just ask, we'd be glad to lead you to it.
"LA Noire" runs flawlessly on my machine, and I've had my PS3 for years, and the game since launch day. It should do the exact-same for you. And it's a great game, my GOTY.
