when you first face the kutku use bow or bowgun (bow gun is the easiest). use dual blades against fast enemies(blango, giadrome ETC.)

Really, there are no "best weapons". There are fastest weapons (swords and dual blades) and long range weapons (bows and bowguns) and strongest weapons (hammers and great swords) and long weapons (lances and long swords). It is a choice of preference, and there are times when you may want to take a hammer, or times when all you want is a sword. Fast weapons are much weaker than hammers and great swords, but those are much slower. Lances and longswords are longer, so monsters have a hard time hitting you, but they are slow, and if you miss you will definitely pay the price. The guns and bows in the game are good, but if a powerful monster gets close, then you are most likely dead. I don't play the game much, but when I do I always use a hammer. Hammers are my favourite weapon, and I am the best with them.

I wouldnt really say classes you can you never just have to use a certain weapon or armor you choose what you want to use for the next quest so theres not really classes.

damann22

There are no classes in Monster Hunter. You choose what items, weapons and armour to bring on each quest. The closest you can get to classes is if you get all of one type of armour and the weapon that goes along with it, and you get an added skill bonus for doing so.

Err...How about these...?

1 : Find several weapons to specialise in , best if you have at least a fast and a slow melee weapon and at least a single ranged weapon. ( For me , I specialise in dual swords , long sword , sword & shield , hammer , bow , light bowgun and heavy bowgun )

2 : Here are some of the early monsters I remember having troubles with and my tactics for clearing them :

Khezu : Either get a flame weapon or get a high damage weapon , regardless of it's sharpness. Be patient and wait for it's head to be exposed and strike it hard. Khezu is the softest at the head , the second softests is probably the legs or the wings and the hardest is the tail. The best time to attack is usually after it released large bolts from it's mouth but if your using ranged weapons , you can take advantage of more of it's attacks.

Blangonga : Was that it's name? I don't remember. Melee weapons can be somewhat difficult to use against it so it's recommended that you bring some ranged weapons. ( Either light bowgun or bow ) Melee weapons can also work out if your experienced in using them and if you can judge it's movements well.Ignore the Blango it summons. Fighting it can be a real pain due to it's speed and maneuvaribility.

Rathalos / Rathian ( Gathering Hall ) : Very simple , get a Daimyo Bow and use it against them. It may be cheap but I efficiently took them out fairly quickly compared to using my long sword.

Plesioth : One of the most annoying early monsters I hunted. It's damage is devastating and it's size is incredibly large so it can hit you easily. I don't recommend melee weapons for this if you don't have some decent armor. If it refuses to come out ( Which is unlikely in earlier missions ) fish it out with a frog or sonic bomb but if your using a ranged weapon , you can hit it easily , but I don't recommend killing it in the water :P

3 : Get the Felyne of a certain battle-style to fit the weapon your using. For example , if your a melee user , get a Felyne that can actually heal and buff you. ( Cowardly or Peace-Loving Felynes that have learned the Flute set abilities ) Or if your fighting against certain foes , get a bomb-loving Felyne etc. etc. You get the idea.

4 : It's O.K not to get friends to play with you , it's still possible , or became possible due to the new feature of Felyne fighters. Though Gathering Hall Missions are relatively harsher without friends , I assure you , I managed to complete them all solo. ( Though I may require several retries here and there )

5 : It's for the best if you maintain weapon variety rather than sticking onto a single weapon style. Experiment and find out which weapon is more efficient against that certain monster according to your fighting style. Though it is also important to find a weapon you like.

6 : Elements can actually prove very useful. Sometimes , elements are required to break certain monster parts. They can also become a invaluable asset in dealing devastating damage to monsters

7 : ALWAYS visit your Felyne Cooks and ALWAYS eat something before going to a mission. It's recommended that you get Felynes of different specialisations ( Such as Meat , Milk etc. etc. Don't get two Felynes of the same specialty and dismiss some if you found a better Felyne )

8 . Though this may be common sense , visit the Pokke Farm regularly and collect every single resource you can find. ( In case you have no idea , under that sleeping PoPo , you can collect Dung , but it's only occasional )

9 . Train yourself to use as little potions and items you made in earlier missions and collect materials for the later missions. Your going to need it , I assure you.

10 . In Gathering Quests , make use of the time and find out every single gathering location of the Map and try to memorise them. Some seemingly useless gathering points might even yield rare items once in a while.

11 . Don't be lazy and do every Mission that you can get your hands on. From the Training School to the Offline Gathering Hall , do 'em all. ( Training School can help you polish your skills while the Offline Gathering Hall's quest often bring in ample amount of rewards )

12 . Memorise the move-sets of Monsters. So the next time you fight them , you can deal with them more easily and if you found another new monster of the similar move-sets , you can formulate battle tactics more easily.

Congrats on your fist kill :P As for the Felynes... Well , occasionally , you will be sold Felynes that can cook and those that can go on Quests with you. However , don't bother buying the Cooking ones , if you downloaded the Bonus Content , you can get free Chef Felynes from a barrel that appears in town once in a while.
