I saw one at best buy the other day for $170. I was wondering if I would have any problems with it because I've heard people say that the 4GB doesn't work with some games and that they have problems.

If you have the money to buy it, do it. You could always use a different card for games, it's not like save files can take up 8GB.

Well, you can get the stick at a cheaper price off of Ebay. I was going to get it for 50 buckaroos. But then, I saw a tutorial about stripping your 512 mb stick and modifying it to store 8gb. It's MUCH MUCH cheaper..

Yeah, I know, it's some crazy ****. The odd thing is, I can't find the damn tutorial. So I'll make a topic on how to do it. Oh btw, it works with all sticks. Not just 512.

Okay, off the top of my head, let me tell you this. If you have a transparent stick (one you can see through), you'll see that little chip inside of it. Well, the tutorial involves editing the chip to store more data. I'll keep on looking. I'm still gonna make the topic.

First off... of course it's not possible. A softmod that increases memoryx16? Come on guys!

If such a thing WEREpossible, it would be readily available online and heavily distributed if someone had found a way. Honestly, what are the odds that such a method existed and it's conspicuously absent on three of thebiggest PSP hack sites, yet it's in the hands of... THIS GUY?

Bear in mind, "this guy" in question didn't DEVELOP it. He saw it on a tutorial. That is conspicuously absent. It would have to be a method that is so complicated that no one else has discovered it yet, WHILE at the same time being so simple that he can simply REMEMBER how to do it and write it down for you in a tutorial. To say nothing of the fact, he's currently in the process of modding it to a full 20GB.

512kb to20gb...softmodded...

I MUST see this tutorial.

Sorry if my post came off the wrong way. I was talking more of developing the "chip"/"memory" part inside of a memory stick, but not editing the one you already have. Basically, I'll teach how to MAKE one, and not how to edit one. Sorry for the miswording.

BTW, it ain't that hard to make the stick. If you have a basic knowledge of coding, you should know the power of Binary Trees. By making one, you can rapidly store and retrieve data. It's basically the coding used to make a memory stick. That's not the problem. You see, I made my stick from scratch. I saw a tutorial on editing sticks. But, since so many people are new to this, I thought that using an already made stick would help them. Well anyways, I made my stick from cheap plastic, and tenfoil. lol. Then I painted it white. My problem here isn't that. My problem is getting the coding info into the chip. That's something my dad did. I just coded the thing. One more thing. If binary trees are troublesome, you could always go all Master Hacker and some how format a stick by using variables and ****. You also need to know how if statements work. If statements work like this:

"If (stick is in console) commence start up." I was paraphrasing, but it basically tells the stick to start working when it's in the PSP.

**** the tutorial. I'll make a full blown source code 15 gigs of memory on it. You may download it when it's done. And I'll have to ask my dad on how to transfer this info into an empty stick. The stick is the chip inside the skin btw.

PSP systems with system software version 2.80 or earlier do not correctly recognize high-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duo with more than 4 GB of free (recordable) memory space. This would be the only reason where I could see a problem would occur.

What problems could someone have going from 4 to 8 gig? It's not like they changed the hardware interface in a way that 'some' games could have problems. All they did was squeeze another memory chip in, whoever told you that is a moron. Never believe anything until you read it in a technical doc or see it happen for yourself, because most people think they know and know nothing.

The thing is, you can't get an empty memory stick. You can only get a normal one and put a new memory chip in it. To make the chip, you'd have to make a code with languages such as Java, C, and C++. The code is then transferred into the chips "motherboard", or whatever is in there, and BAM! You have yourself a newer, better stick. Still working on the code.

Make one. I already stated I made mine of plastic, copper, andI modeled it with tenfoil. The problem here is making a skin to cover and protect it. I used cardboard. Why? Because the skin doesn't activate it, but instead those little copper things sticking out of it. BTW, if you search online there's a million sourcecodes for memory of the sorts. Don't ride on my ass. I already proved that this isn't BS. My knowledge of coding and so on.

having a firmware of 1.50 or lower if their is, idk much about this stuff but i know that if its 1.50 it wont recognize it you have to update your firmware 1st. i dont think it wouldn't recognize it in general-sweet avi btw. if you still dont believe me it even on the Play Station web site...

and what i think about this? sounds too complicated..if i had the instructions i could figure it out more than likl. i would pay for some thing that costs more that my system but thats just me i havent even used up all of my 2g. istill havehella music and photos and extra spaceuntill then...maybe a 4g but thats it, unless i get a deal like i did for my PSP ;)

First... saying the words "Java, C, and C++" does not constitute aknowledge of coding.

Second of all, "MACGUYVER himself couldn't make this work with copper, plastic, tinfoil, and cardboard." This is a complicated chip and can't be kit-bashed out of stray bits of garbage by the likes of say...

You.

your freaking hilarious dude. I can't believe some people even believe what your saying.

actually Im not sure if you are trying to pull off a serious prank or trying to show how computer illiterate the people on this forum are ;)

and btw, you can't "program" memory parce, it is mainly done by an integrated controller which has no logic, ie. it does not even have a RISC IS.

OWNED!!! Just as said before, I was trying to prove how gullible and decieveable members of these forums are. People who are tracking me, bash me all you want. I will admit I didn't totally lie. I'm an expert coder in both visual basic, and c++, and I'm currently working on two games. But, the whole mem stick thing was just a joke. Some people that were smart, such as Valmonte, Marlins Baseball, and Charsoxer failed to succumb into my dirty foolery, thus causing them to see my real intent and exposing my vicious schemes. In other words, they didn't fall for it. I don't hate any of you guys. But I will ALWAYS respect those who don't fall into the holes I dig.

How is that owning anyone besides yourself? You proved nothing besides the fact that you have no life. Cool, so you know how to code, any 13 year old wanna be hacker knows codes. Grow up and find something better to do with your life than claim to make your own memory sticks out of tinfoil and plastic. Your air of superiority also fails. We are on the internet, good luck proving how smart you are. All you managed to do was hijack this kid's thread and make a fool of yourself.

As to the original question, if you have the need for 8 gigs and money isn't an issue then by all means, go for it. If not stick with the cheap 4 gigs.

Sorry sir, your amounts of ignorance suprises me. That post of your was about 97% wrong. Shall I "school" you on your fallacious comments? So, I have no life huh? I guess taking a hidden survey on how ignorant people can be means I have no life. Sorry sir, I always thought it was called research and learning. I guess you're one of those ignorants I was surveying. Anyways, let's go onto your IDIOTIC remarks. First off, I'm not 13 you dumbass. I'm ****ing 23. And I'm no "wannabe hacker". Where did you get that complete BS from? Oh yeah, I forgot, you like to talk out of your ass. And this is the internet, the source of all knowledge, the ultimate way of communication, and you claim to think I can't prove how smart I am? For one thing, I already proved I'm smarter than you for righting the large amounts of wrongs you had in that post of yours. You're just the common fool who uses the cliche "13 year old with no life" excuse to drive someone off of a thread. Notice how I used the word cliche? Since you seem like an ignorant guy, I will tell you it means unoriginal. It's used all the time. And how often do I see members saying that other members are 13 year old hackers with no life? In nearly every thread. Please, if you want to prove something, get your facts straight and try to use something a bit more creative and original. Calling me 13 for trying to find out if the typical human can differentiate (sp?) right from wrong is not only completely fallacious, but also stereotypical, and flat out "dumb". And don't even get me started with Lil_D. I can pick out 10 stupid things from that one tiny post of his. For starters, he was also cliche and said I have no life. The dudes got over 6000 posts? And he votes about videogames? I guess he has no life as well then. The thing is, there is no such thing as "no life". You can only have a life and modify the way you want it to be. But just because you come on forums to say crap, doesn't mean you have "no life". And I can just as easily say that wasting 2 minutes of your life to type about why I have no life because I made false claims on memory sticks means you have "no life".

And I can just as easily say that wasting 2 minutes of your life to type about why I have no life because I made false claims on memory sticks means you have "no life".High_Spy

He was giving you the benefit of the doubt, by calling you 13. Youthful idiocy goes away. Mental handicap is with you for keeps. And giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are 23, despite the fact you've already lied numerous times, which putsANYTHING you say into question, this is a game forum. There's a lot of kids running around on here. So while you may not be thirteen, it's a good chance that some of the people you "owned" might very well be. If picking on kids and exposing them as being ignorant and inexperienced was your goal, well... bravo.

THAT was a worthy goal, you evil mastermind, you.
