thinking of getting it after FFXIII.... how was it?
Harder than other games, expect to die multiple times, frustrating but really good, addictive and fulfilling... if you could handle that, you should have picked it up a long time ago...Very different from FF that's for sure. No one I know has beaten the game. Hell, I have most completion % on my friends list and I'm only at 10% done the trophies. I've played about 25-30 hours and only beaten 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, and 5-1. Time consuming, addictive, and challenging is how I'd describe the game. I love it.
I've beat the game, and absolutely loved it. You'll have to set yourself into the atmosphere, but when you do, I don't think you'll ever forget it. It, surprisingly, became my personal game of the year. It's bone-breakingly difficult, but endlessly satisfying. Defeating a boss at the end of a level is simply unmatched.
[QUOTE="juden41"]I haven't beat it yet. It's ridiculously hard. I'm a soul level 90 magician, and I've still only beat three bosses. :( (i must be doing something wrong)Couth_You are doing something very wrong. You can go out and beat the game at that level.

the first time I beat the asian import I was roughly soul level 68, new game+ was terrible at that level lol

You wont die multiple times, you will die alot. Great fun though.
Simply put, the most difficult game of this gen. It's not all that hard once you recognize the patterns and needed action/reaction, but even then it will continue to punish the impatient, hack n' slash mentality of the modern gamer. Yet this game is incredibly rewarding, beautifully structured, and all a HARDCORE gamer could wish for. Buy it asap, but remember if you lack patience or an ability to react and solve simultaneously you will hate this game.

Yeah, first time I beat it I was felling like almighty and stuff, then went on to ng+, good o'l boletaria castle, just charged at them dreglings thinking "yeah, they can't do ****" only to be gang raped by them and die at like 5 minutes in, seriously, on the normal game, by the soul level I was when I beat it, they would take but 1/1000 of my HP with every strike, in ng+ it would be like 1/6... ng+ is crazy man.
but still this game is pure awesomeness.
It's an excellent game. I've gotten close to finishing it with two characters, 20+ hours on each. Alas, I reached the final level of the first world (which I saved for last) and in the final stretch was scorched by dragon's breath unto death. My valiant heroin's nonexistent balls shriveled and her courage faltered, and I have yet to revisit the game. I love it to death and played with it for 50+ hours, but I've taken from it a prolonged siesta.
one thing i will mention here that death is part of the game, so when u see every one saying u will die alot dont think of it as totaly bad thing. for example some items are only gained when u die.
i did buy on ebay since it wont release in australia. i knew it must be good for every one to say it is good but i didnt know that it was SOOOOO GOOOOOD. been playing it for about 50 hours so far.

Tower knight ain't that hard, well unless you are taking him on the ground. He is extremely easy if you just pick him off from above with arrows.[QUOTE="juden41"]I haven't beat it yet. You can go out and beat the game at that level. I wonder if my armor is too weak. I keep going against Abjudicator and dying in two hits. The other boss (Flame Lurker) kills me really fast too. I'd love to get farther, just not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Strangely addicting...Usually ridiculous hard games make me more frustrated than anything but man, this game is good. When you die, YOU screwed up...not like many other games where the computer is cheap...
Great game. Will play through new game + sometime soon.

I know exactly what your doing wrong, your thinking that your armor actually does something. Best tip I can give, is learn to roll, dodge and not get hit, cause everything will kill you with one or two hits in DS, with or without you wearing armor.
I've beat it, and loved it. The most atmospheric game I have ever played. It's hard, but gets much easier as you get better at it. Like, I one-shotted most of the bosses, only had to try again for 2 or 3 of 'em. It's the red-eyed bastards that are the danger lol :P It's kinda easy to plat as well, as it just takes some time and proper choices for Soul use. I'll get around to it one of these days.

Oh lord, get rid of the armor xD I wore light armor for my entire playthrough, and it offered crap protection but I could dodge, roll, and run circles around everything. I also had the Purple Flame Shield really early on as well, so if I had to take a hit, I could easily block, then roll away very quickly.

Yeah, I tried NG+ briefly after I beat it to see how the difficulty spiked, and while it does indeed get harder, I still had an easier time then my first time through the game, as I was well accustomed to the dodge mechanics, enemy patterns, their wepaon reach, etc. I just didn't wanna play through the same thing again twice in a row, so I think when I go for plat, I'ma start from the very beginning with a new file and towards the end of that playthrough, spend more time grinding the Reaper in...bah, it's been awhile...4-3?
I beat it. It's not really -that- hard. On the first playthrough, once you learn how to play and you have the controls down, it's only difficult at worst. I beat the game at Soul Level 50-something and haven't gotten to playing the NG+ yet. I know all the NG+'s are harder, but most people will only go for the first playthrough, and it really isn't that hard once you get used to it. Make sure to use the multiplayer mode to your advantage. Having someone there to help you makes the game 100 times easier. SoraX64
LOL good to know i played it for a hour or 2 and was like to hell with this and shut it off but i will pick it up again for sure maybe after i beat FF13 or bioshock 2. I was in the first area castle part and just beat the big black jelly thing with the other lil jelly things attached to it. The dragon on the bridge kept pwning me with fire but meh i was prolly doing it wrong and will hook it up to the net to see past failures by other peeps.
