I mean it's a great game(amazing actually 9/10), even if it is only about 7 hours long(you can really put in much longer though). Think about Shadow of the Colossus, that game wasn't much longer(if longer at all) and it's considered to be one of the best PS2 games ever(for the people that actually played it).

Some people just like to hate on Sony(mostly xbox fanboys), and will find anyway to do so. Quite sad.

Not really. I'm not gonna pay 60 for a game I'll beat in 7 hours, then beat on hardest in like 8 hours. Pass. Especially since it doesn't have any replay value online.

Yes it's very annoying when games like Bioshock are only an hour or two longer and their is no mention of game length at all in the reviews. Since when did game length become part of the review score?? That seems to be a review metric reserved only for Heavenly Sword. I can think of quite a few games that are shorter and it was never mentioned.

Yeah it's annoying, but whatever, I've put in about 25 hours already trying to earn all the glyphs.

No, I just beat the game on Monday and it took me about 10 hours, about the same time it took me to beat God of War 2. The only difference was that I thought HS was better cause I could shoot things in the head as well as furiously beat down the baddies with Nariko.

I will probably try it on Hellmode, but no guarantee I'll beat the thing.

But as far as entertainment value goes, I haven't played a game with thiss good a story in months. So as far as I'm concerned the whiners can go home.

you should really try it on hell mode. i thought this game was just your average button masher until i played it on this difficulty. you really get to appreciate the combo system in the game.

I really intend to, but it's only been like two days since I beat it and after that (like six hours straight) I had to ice my hand (which is a first). Any who, probably sometime this weekend.

pretty much all people of one type or other. There are a few "beasts" and the bosses border on human at best, but there aren't any bugs.

Quality or Quantity? Oh, who knows... People didn't seem to mind as much back when Max Payne 2 came out. It got superb reviews despite being quite a brief experience. Why can't reviewers get past that with Heavently Sword? Personally, I have yet to finish the game (on last chapter), but I've found it to be one of the highest quality gaming experiences I have had in years. I'm not really talking about gameplay, but from the storytelling to the sound to the acting to the art design, I haven't played too many games with such an emotional impact as HS.

On a side note, it seems those who play the game in a single binge, tend to be less appreciative of the game. I don't really havea ton of time lately, so I've been playing about one or less chapters a day. Maybe that's why I like it so much?

Anyway, to answer the topic, I am a little peaved at the length criticism, but I definately see what people mean: you are payingover $60 for a game. That's reallyalmost $10 an hour, excluding the bonus features.

I bought HS and its a great game so far. I am not like some other gamers that spend every waking moment in front of a game screen. I play an hour here, maybe two hour another time so it will take me quite some time to get to the end. Yes, total game playing hours might be short but I have no intention of sitting for 10 hours straight to finish the game. People don't usually complain that a movie was too short.....they just want to be entertained. Play Heavenly Sword, be entertained, and finish it.....then download the additional content (someday...please).

Well you have to factor in that the person had to beat the game to write the review and they pretty much play games and talk about them for a living. Normal people like me have maybe an hour or two of free time to play games everyday. Sometimes every other day. I could spend a week playing the game on and off.

There is no denying that the game is short. I was hoping for the length of Ninja Gaiden. It took me about 18 hours my first time through Ninja Gaiden(I messed around a lot and made enough cash to upgrade all weapons, including the wooden sword). It took me about 8 hours through Ninja gaiden my 2nd time around(only upgraded dragon sword). HS took me about 7 hours 1st play through and I literally walked from the different check points to take in all the pretty graphics. I enjoyed HS the whole way through and it is one of those games I'll play through every few months.

I wouldn't call it hate, it's a great game that ends way to quickly. Definately leaves you wanting more. It's almost like the bouncer for PS2 it was a fun game that ends way to fast. I can't wait for heavenly sword 2, I just don't know what angle they will take with it now (because of the ending).

i've played through HS and the length is ok to me.chapter 2 man that chapter was long, fun, and a **** a couple ofthe bossescan give you anexciting feeling and a bit of anxiety expecially after your life had been drained from all those armies. then you end up facing the bosses. it has a very good story to it by getting you really angry before fighting the armies and bosses. that's the way you want to hype up the gamers before a fight. that's what great about this game it got my heart pumping. i thought reviewers was suppose to base everything on graphics, gameplay, and sound. i can understand people finishing this game in a quickness if they're one of those people who just skim through the game. starting to notice that the exclusive gameson the ps3are not getting anybreaks from the harsh/nonsense reviews. seems pretty fishy if you tell me. i do get harsh with a lot of games i played, but dang seeing gamesites giving great games an okor very low score ispretty messed up. if i own a popular site like gamespot, i can convincethousands ofnewbies toget one system over the other easily depending the score i give the games. you have tobelieve it or not....gamesitesdo play a big role in the sells.it doesnt affect me because I play what i like and never get turned down by its score. maybe sony should one day come up withtheir owngamesitewith a name thatdoesntinclude the wordsony in it. thenslowly favoringps3/psp/ps2 gamesover the others once the site become massively popular. when people start complaining"bias!"then you take the time to give a few of the games the score that the fans expect then down the road bash the new games that comes out on the other console. microsoft is smart though. i would do the same if i was sony. maybe sony should buyout gamespot or 1up. but you know microsoft will not let that happen. other sitesare unorganize and sloppy.IGNis popular but there is something aboutthat sitethat I don't like.sony should think about investing in apopular gamesite.

Am I the only one who thoughtHS was boring? Sure there are other games out there that are shorter, but I dont think HS got a lower review simply because its short. I dont think the GS review posted fully explains why it got an 8, but if you read other reviews or if you have simply played the game, you'll find out that its a bit weak on the"fun to play" aspect. Sure, I liked the pretty graphics and cutscenes, but a game that you enjoy watching more than playing just isnt that good of a game at all. HS is a fine example of how a game with a big budget doesnt necessairly make a fun game. If you judge the game on gameplay alone, you'll find that HS is pretty poor.

mojojojo23

halo 3 is around 12-15 hours, thats not too bad for a fps, but it also has 4 playerco-op which is simply amazing and fun to play, I dont think it will ever get old.

I dont think its far compare HS to Halo, you have to remember halo has muiltiplayer and HS does not, now i think if HS did have some kind of muiltiplayer or co-op then people wouldnt be complaining about the length because you get more replay value, thats why HS is only worth a rent even though its a great game.
