Ok, its simple. You want the ps3 right now buy it for 499.

If you don't wait for the 80 gb for 599. or buy it later for 499.

Console's lower prices since the begining of video game history soit shouldn't be some large holy surprise that the 80 GB will lower to 499 soner or later.
Remember that theres thousands of workers at sony who need to get paid and they won't get paid if you greedy sob's keep pestering sony to give in to your demands.

If it were up to us, we'd have a 1 terabyte model for $1.99 but sadly the world doesn't work like that.

Suck it up. Buy the console or don't buy it. You know your options, now make a choice, and take it like a man. [or woman]

I've got two console to date the Xbox360 and the Wii. I was saving up to buy a PS3 and then I read that they are phasing out the 60GB version and replacing it with the 80GB version and charging $599 for it, which puts it out of my price range. I would buy the cheapo but whats the point because it doesn't have the features? It also makes me wonder if Sony if trying screw there costumers now because they are behind. What's the deal Sony?

What "cheapo one without features" you're talking about? The 80GB has all the same features as the 60GB, with the exception of 20GB more hard drive space and including one game: Motorstorm. The only other difference between the 60 and 80 gig systems is that the 80 doesn't have the Emotion Engine for backwards compatability. That just means that all backwards compatability is done via software (rather than hardware like the 60GB).

If you can afford it, you should get the $499 60GB while you can now (with the 5 free Blu-Ray deal) or just wait and see what happens to the price around Christmas.

Are you super sensitive or something?

Either buy one now, later or don't buy one at all. No one cares what you do.

Get over it.

The 80GB shouldn't even be a consideration unless you are interested in Motorstorm. The 60GB and the 80GB are identical except for the obvious HD size difference and that the 60GB uses hardware emulation and the 80GB uses software.

In the immortal words of Monty Python - GET ON WITH IT! - and just buy a PS3 already.
