As far as I'm aware, the ps3 monitors the temperature of the processor and ambient temperature inside the ps3 and as the temp increases so does the speed of the fan (much like a pc ) to keep the ps3 cool. Vacuum the air vents on the ps3 to free them of dust and make sure there's enough ventilation space around the ps3. I hope this helps.. :D
You need to make sure you have plenty of venting for the PS3. The fan should only speed up when the system is getting hot. Under normal conditions, this is not an issue with the PS3 due to it's great hardware design.
I run COD4 for hours with no fan noise.
omg thats strange O.OSollidSnake_Sounds like a Xbox 360 problem to me, though the 360 one as we all know it is pretty loud, pending on which version you had.
I have never heard my PS3 make any noise whatsoever. VinnoTI'm generally assuming that it does not make noise but from what I hear, it makes alittle noice when playing a intensive game or when having not much ventilation which bulks up the PS3 and causes heat.
The fan does that every time I play a game, but at least it's keeping my PS3 cool and dust free.justified615
Actually the fans are what pull in dust. That's why you should clean the vents on a regular basis.
