What happened before i had this problem:

This is probably coindence. I bought skate2 and had just entered an exclusive unlock code for the throwback pack. Somehow i screwed up my career mode and decided to restart. I didn't see any other possible way to do so but to delete my saved data, which i did. Turns out i had to enter the unlock code again.

After 20 minutes of playtime, my game hanged at a loading screen. I could still however return to the ps3 home menu screen via ps button on the controller. I quit the game but it just hanged the ps3 so i was forced to turn it off on e console itself. I got it back on and for some reason it couldn't read any ps3 game disc. I'd normally try the next day and all goes well til i hit a loading screen.

I figured it had something to do with my disc slot because the game disc was brand new and didn't have a single scratch on it. So ever since, the damn ps3 would sometimes hang on me in any loading screen of any game(still able to return to the ps3 menu though) I've had this ps3 for 2-3 years so warranty is out of the question.

Did anyone get this problem? If so, any solutions?

Pssible firmware or game install corruption. Delete the game install data, not the game save data and re install from teh disc. Otherwise just wait for a firmware update.

Yo dude thanks for the help, i appreciate it. I've already deleted the game and it still can't read any disc so i'm guessing the problem lies with the firmware. As for the firmware update, is it the same as the system update?

Well my PS3 was freezing from time to time.

So I Restored PS3 System.

After that freezing never happened again.

That could fix your problem although I'm not sure if that will help.

Here is the link on how to do that: LINK

I had the same problem while playing fallout3! It freezed, then my PS3 (2007 40Gb model) could'nt read blu-rays anymore! So I stored my saves on a USB key, then I restored my PS3 system, but it still did not work.... Fortunately, my warranty was still running and I got a new PS3!! So I'm affraid your PS3 is broken... Sorry about that!!!! I really understand....
