It's uglier and cannot stand up on its own. Other than that, though, there's no reason to buy a fat one over the new slim, especially when they're trying to foist off the old 80GB units for the same price as a new 120GB one. If it had BC, maybe, but as it stands it's a rip-off. The Slim also uses less power, although how much less we don't know yet.

1. Its not as sexy

2. There is no touch sensitive buttons (which I personally really like)

3. Im thinking there will probably be a lot of hardware/software issues at first

4. Not crazy about the Flat black finish

I didn't notice any memory/SD card slots on mine, it only has 2 usb ports and it gets a tad warm on the top while playing... but not scary warm.

Oh and no power switch on the back, but thats not a big deal at all.

Why do you think a Slim down version with smaller chip set will have more problems than the last ones? It simply is a remodel and Sony normally makes very reliable products unlike someone else I won't mention. LOL.

Well one thing bad about the new slim is all the pointless posts about the slim. Do a little research, there are over a dozen posts about the slim asking everything about the software and hardware inside to how heavy the darn thing is and if you can stand it up on its side. Check into some facts instead of asking people, who may not even have the slim, if you should get it or not.

very true . . . cough* Microsoft cough* cough* lol but I just think that anytime a system (r anything for that matter) goes from being tested by a few hundred (or even a few thousand) testers to a world-wide release - a LOT more issues will accur - however I trust sony with my life so im sure they will fix any problems as quickly as possible - and I could be wrong - the release could go perfectly lol we shall see I guess

It's unnecessary. It doesn't even shine! I'd rather havemyshiny grill console than pay god knows how much more for a squashed NON-SHINY version of it.

You're better off getting the fat PS3 rather than the new one. Hard drive space is irrelevant since you can always swap it out later on for a MUCH larger one. Just my opinion.

Nope, they improved the cooling, less power consumption and smaller form factor. No reason to get the fats anymore.

[QUOTE="DjBrazil"]

hi

i just wanna know if the slim version is much better than the original ? i dont know what to buy :/

sorry for english

Its easily better value for money and better hardware. The hardware does the same but brings new elements such as a smaller model, a cooler model, a less power consuming model and a quieter model. It has an upgradable HDD just like the previous model. Only downside people seem to see if that its not shiny which is a poor excuse not to get one and get an original. I chose the slim and im glad I have, i thought it was ugly but then i watched this and I changed my mind, im probably one of the only people on these forums and many others that think it looks ace! The images dont do it favours but this vid shows all angles, its actually shiny all over apart from the top so its not all dull like the ps2 slim. Definately get the slim, why get a console thats got an updated version that is far better value for money just for originality and a shiny top side. not worth it. Slim for the win! oh heres the link to that vid btw, explains all thats in the slim package and shows you all of the sexy model against a regular model. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VL8W3kiQxQ&NR=1 hmm link wont link properly oh well just copy it :D

you can't install custom OS onto the system anymore and also there's no backwards compatability (in relation to the first generation ps3)

Ye, it looks like dog poo. Besides that, there are no real differences compared to the fat PS3's, it just costs you less.

complete and utter trust in first gen electronic equipment = epic phail. if theres anything history shouldnve tought you is to NEVER EVER trust anything electronic thats a new release. the first gens always are the buggiest, not matter what yorue dealing with. im sure sony will take the neccessary steps to solve the problem WHEN it happens though
