Ar Tonelico Qoga is absolutely the best JRPG on PS3 so far ( imo )

Wow just wow.. I'd like to share my thoughts on the recently released Ar Tonelico Qoga for PS3 which been way too addicting for me.I seriously have never been this addicted before to a JRPG in a long time, i love JRPGs and i buy them all except i usually play an hour or two then switch to call of duty but man o man how epic this game is! i think it even beats final fantasy 13 and others as well like Eternal Sonata. here are my thoughts:

• Amazing soundtrack
• Top-notch voice acting
• Fun gameplay
• Great battle system
• Hilarious and i mean hilarious!
• Beautiful visuals
• Towns

and list can go on and on. .. so what are everyone's thoughts? ( for thoughts that have it? )

I respect your opinion especially since you semm to be a huge JRPG fan, but I disagree with it being the best JRPG this gen. It's a fantastic game, don't get me wrong, and I love most of it. But there are just some points in the game that bug me, like the uninteressting bad told story and weird gameplay elements (why would Ravytails get stronger by striping? oO I do like the idea of having some kind of date sim, but seriously, they have to strip to be stronger? wtf?). Also the gameplay is a bit shallow, I enjoyed Star Oceans much more with twists like blind sides. Overall a fantastic game, one of the best, but not the best gen this gen (My list would look something like that: Disgaea 3 > ZHP > Rof = SO > AT > rest, never really enjoyed the NDS RPGs and excluding improved ports like the new port Phantom Brave on PSP ^^)

awesomeee i just got home and im installing it as we speak :P looking foward to syncing the soundtrack to my itunes as well :P it looks really cool just from the art book ^_^ glad u like it :D

If this is anything similar to Star Oceans then I wouldn't touch this game with a 10 foot pole, that game was pitifully boring and the story made me want to off myself. Please tell me this game isn't another "Made for 10 year olds!" style JRPG?!

I think they were two game that you don't want to get beat by. Agreed here too, why are RPG's just going downhill these days, why can they not try and make them for adults? The more recent JRPG's have completely ruined the whole thing for me, I hardly even want to load one up after Star Ocean or FF13. Thank god for games like Disgaea 3, at least there is still hope...

Lost Odyssey isn't that tough to beat. That games stutters quite a bit of the time. The storyline is rather "been there done that." On the other hand Vesperia was awesome all the way through. Hopefully Tales of Graces delivers, which based off the demo, seems like it will.

Persona 4 came out on PS2 and therefore would be considered last generation.

Hm im un-sure on how t explain it for you in short :P, you gotta play it to know but basically its in a world where songs give the people magical powers, u start it with a guy named aoto who suddenly encounter a young girl named saki which was being attacked by the army and an old man that gets killed, before the old man dies you ensure that aoto takes care of the girl ( saki ) and then story goes on :P, argh dont think i explianed it much, u just gotta play it to know :P

You most certainly not required to play the past 2 games but if you want you can always get them from NISA store. its totaly safe to start with this one.. also Persona 4 is a last gen game :P

The striping element is very weird at first indeed but you get used to it the more you play :P, you can always turn it off if you want as i noticed it in the options section, your correct the battle system sure is very clsoe to star ocean, i personally loving it, think a bit better then AT2, Disgaea 3 comes 4th spot now for me :P as its AT3 then valkyria then FFXIII then Eternal Sonata then disgaea then the rest :P. same never seemed to like dS games except pokemon and world ends with you, loving the game so much!

lol nope this isnt pokemon it is so not made for 10 years olds :P.. heck the boxart clearly says 17+ :P.. anyways i played SO4 and even though it is annoying indeed the battle system was amazing, this game is far not like SO4 but battle system a bit close to SO, very great game.

Nope you dont need to play the first two games to play this, think of it like final fantasy, each game has its own story

Doubtful. If anything, strong sales for Graces will only improve the chances of Xillia being localized. I think by them localizing Graces over Vesperia they've basically said they're moving forward with the series. If they were going to localize the older game, they probably would have done so first.

Yeah, both games are Japanese only as of now and I play Japanese imports all the time.

Im almost 100% sure XSeed is the only company you mentioned that actually listens to fan suggestions. NISA, ATLUS and Bamco do what they see fit.

And yes, Xenoblade, Graces and The Last Story are fantastic, true examples of quality console JRPGs this gen I assure you.

Graces probably is in a very early localization state. Most localizations are announced the same way though. Revealed, then media is released down the road.

The damage actually multiplies the more you purge and the less clothing the Ryvateils have on, lol. I also fused Finchan and Yurisica together, so now I've got her in my party permanently. Now I'm going to have to fuse Saki and Sarapatra together, SO I CAN HAVE SARAPATRA IN MY PARTY FOR ETERNITY.

Clearly a contradiction there from a previous thread you posted in. Unless it was a hint of sarcasm, I don't know. Either way, the only way we're going to get more JRPGs localized is 1: complain and beg for these releases, it is what shows we're interested after all and 2: Support the damn developers and throw your money down for these games and stop being such a damn FF fanboy. It's irrelevent which JRPG are the best, just buy those games. I honestly think JRPGs are on the brink of destruction this gen for many reasons, one being the fanbases.

Well overall these companies deserve as much support as possible i say, if only Ar Tonelico qoga wasnt out of stock at the moment from NISA store i would get another copy for my bro :P.. i'll do the same 2 copies for Graces F. only they gotta do is bring it over and play my first HD tales game
