I assume you'd be importing the White PS3... Otherwise it'd be pretty pointless. I wouldn't do it because you aparently can't get service for Japanese PS3's outside of Japan. A guy from Australia posted here the other day saying that his imported *** PS3 had died and that it could only be serviced in Japan. The problem was that Sony Japan didn't support service outside of Japan, and thus wouldn't allow him to ship internationally.. I'm probably getting some part of the story wrong, but the point is that if your *** PS3 dies here in the states you could very well be stuck with a brick without hope of replacement.sportwarrior

nah man you are absolutely correct, i would say that you are making reference to my position..
and yes if you import from japan they wont allow you to send it to
them to fix because they personally do not sell it overseas..
they offer their service to japan only..all i can say is to make sure
you stay in contact with the seller if you do so..because if anything
goes wrong you could potentially make arrangements with them :D
EDIT: my only hope is to find someone in australia to
fix my drive or something or that nature..i could
cost a few hundred so it is something for the future.
IMO: stick to your region its honestly not worth it,
i wouldnt wish upon any one what i have to go through.
Yeah I was referring to your situation (which really does suck, btw)... After hearing your story I know it's a good idea to stick to your own region...
ImSwordMan, if you really want a colored PS3 there are several websites that will paint the system professionally for you in many colors other than White. If you're ok with a black on then definitey buy one locally.
And hilltops, good luck with your situation. Hope you find some sort of reasonable solution.
