Are the changes in Infamous 2 really necessary?

I read somewhere that one of the reasons why Sucker Punch is changing the character designs on Cole MacGrath, is because not a lot of people actually like the way he looked nor did they like his voice. Do people actually think that way?

Honestly, I liked the way Cole looked and I really liked his voice, which was played by Jason Cottle. Both his voice and the way he looked made the game stand out to me. The changes to Cole (making him have hair, changing his looks and his voice), is what's making me less looking forward to the game. I read as well that their not sticking to the comic like cut scenes in Infamous 2? I think the way Cole looks and sounds are definitely not one of the main aspects Sucker Punch needs to work on.

What are your thoughts?

I think the new character model looks better and its going to be more fun to play with him as he looks more like a superhero, but i hate the new voice actor.-Hoax-

I prefer his new look, but liked his old voice. But even IF I didn't like the new design it'd be a 1st day purchase... everything about the gameplay seems improved over the 1st!!!

the voice is the only thing that bugs me...

he sounds like he's treading the line between childhood and puberty.

I liked him in Infamous, and i'm sure these changes aren't really going to change that. Though, I don't think they were really necessary.

I really love Infamous and i dont mind the changes too much but i do HATE the tattoos new Cole has. They annoy me so much!!!Those crappy tattoos aside i trust Sucker Punch and their decision because as we saw, the gameplay looked amazing and in the end thats all that really matters

*facepalm* You focus on the change of the look of the character AND IGNORE THE AWESOME NEW GAMEPLAY! Honestly,I like the new design. He looks like superhero now,not a guy in a yellow jacket. I see no resemblance to Drake at all. And the voice sounds better too. He doesn't sound like a smoker any more.

No Cole is less generic now, the whole Angry bold guy was well played out by the time inFAMOUS was released. Now this is how I actually reckon Cole should have looked in the first game. Besides a lot of people didn't like the first Cole either but got used to him and Im sure the same will happen with this Cole. Anyway it's not like he looks all that different; new clothes, worked out, grew hair. You would be surprised how different people would look in real life by doing that.

I love the redesign. Cole in general was the lowpoint of the game. He wasn't likeable, hateable, anythingable. (Except his animations, very nicely done).

Can't wait for the sequel!

It's not that he looks different, it's that they made him a completely different person. Reflecting to the first, it's not going to make much sense.

I have gotten used to the new look, i have to say.

I didn't like it at first, but i have watched the gameplay trailer to death and the dodgy looking cole has taken a back seat to the great looking gameplay!

Maybe, just maybe, SP will give us some back story as to why he looks like that, maybe there is a reason for it.

I liked Cole's original look compared to the one in sequel, but that's more because the newer look isn't an improvement.

If those things are true then i completely agree, there is no real need to change is appearance or voice, however he did sound as if he had a bit of a sore throat. And i really hope they keep the comic book style cut-scenes as they were an awesome way of doing them.daveversion1

I read somewhere that cutscenes are generally done like that when there is little or no money for real cut scenes to be made.

Seeing as Infamous was a huge hit, i can't see that being a problem this time around.

However, i would also like to see them stay. i thought they were great!
