Yep, I'm happy with it, it's just as good as I expected and better in some ways. I think it's funny how people say it's exclusive library is lacking. I've owned the other HD console for about twice as long as my PS3 but I already have more exclusive games on the PS3.Floppy_Jim

Yes. If not I wouldn't have kept it, and have gone back to my PS2 (I gave Xbox 360 a go, it wasn't for me). The games coming out for it in the next few months are going to be totally epic, free internet access, sweet HD graphics, great DVD playback, great controller (IMO), the perfect current gen console. For me at least.

That's true, some people do. But personally I would rather have 10 brilliant games than 20 OK-ish games, for example.

Meaning us 60GB owners have the Emotion Engine, while others have Software emulations....

Eddie5vs1

also known as the reason why the 60GB PS3 is regarded as the best version of the PS3. (I have a 40GB)

Our 60GBs in UK came with the Emulation rather than emotion chip.

[QUOTE="m0zart"]

I don't personally associate pride with console ownership. I buy consoles to have fun with them, but they aren't a point of pride for me. (Unless they are collector's items and hard to get).

However, I make an exception for my 60GB PS3. I bought it way back when the 60GB model was still available, and I was second-guessing myself the entire time. What ultimately made the difference was that I needed a Bluray player, and since I knew the PS3 was that, it made sense to go ahead and invest in it for that and worry about the games later.

That came with another blessing though that I hadn't thought about at the time. For one, since I bought the 60 GB model, I have that wonderful hardware backwards-compatibility for both PS1 and PS2 games, and with the anti-aliasing and upscaling available in a later update to the firmware, games appear much better on my two HDTVs than with the original models of the PS1 or PS2. Given that this hardware-based BC has been dropped in later models, I am very happy (and maybe even proud) that I decided to be an early adopter.

sa10kun

mozart, don't all ps3s use software emulation for ps1 titles?

Also I wouldn't say proud but I do lurve that big sexy black machine.=) I seriously haven't played any ps2 games since January when I got hooked on cod4. Sure not as many games are available as on ps2 but the caliber of the games is higher.(not all games. I'm looking at you haze.) I spent almost 700 hours on call of duty 4 online. I think that is the most I have ever spent on one single game. And the free online gaming rocks. I have a hard time wanting a game that doesn't have an online component.

The original North American 20GB and 60GB version have the PS2 Emotion Engine chip hardware. It was switched for software emulation to cut costs in the PAL 60GB version, and later in the 80GB versions.

They've dropped all backwards compatibility, (even PS1), in the current models, but personally, I think it is only temporary and software compatibility will be patched back in a firmware update. In my opinion, Sony will add backwards compatibility back in to the PS3 once they're done supporting the PS2.

That wasn't why it was modded. It was modded for bringing up other competitor platforms. If saying you didn't like the PS3 was why it was modded, and you posted it again in defiance, I can assure you the penalty would have been far greater.

To follow the legacy. The Playstation was one of my first consoles, since then, i trailed my path acording to those consoles

I will stand my ground with the Playstation saga, as long as it lasts. It takes me back... to times of joy... and most to important, to times when the gaming industry wasnt another sellout company, like nowdays ( I miss SquareSoft ).

I am a proud PS3 owner. Granted I don't shout it from the rooftops but I don't deny having one mostly because I spent a lot of money on it. I am, in a way, a disappointed owner at times because the variety of GOOD games (I'll admit that GOOD games are a matter of opinion). I am starting to play more war games and I'm not a huge fan of 'shoot em ups' but I am desperate to play something. I got the PS 3 because I thought Final Fantasy was ONLY for the PS3 until I recently found out it will also be for the 360. Anyways I love the PS3 and am proud of it. Good games will be coming out soon just got to be patient... Or so I keep telling myself. Haha

I am a very proud PS3 owner, its a great console. It has all the games I want to play, exclusive and multiplat. It has the best controller in gaming (IMO) I bought it cause I had to play GTAIV, MGS4, Gran Turismo 5, and I discovered some other great titles along the way such as Uncharted, and my favorite game at the moment COD4.. I am satisfied with my purchase decision immensely. Not to mention the security of a very low failure rate :)

I a proud ps3 owner btw, i have been keeping track of this black sexy machine before it's release.I have a total of 18 games and one psn game, the reason i a great fan is that i have been a ps1 owner since.I love the ps store with many update to keep us inform and the bluetooth controller of not having a hazzel of having being wired, and the exclusive ps3 games like mgs4 and little big plane. Overall i very statisfied with my ps3 even though the game library is still little.

I'm a proud PS3 owner but I'm not really happy with it. I buy consoles to play games and that's it, not for other features/contents. And online content is so much important that it bacame a must use to fully experience the console and games.

I have to say it is the best console I've owned in the 23 years of my life of gaming. It has everything you need & even more stuff you wouldn't think you would need. Not only am I impressed by the gaming but also more of the technology of blu-ray. After watching Casino Royale on Blu-ray (my 1st blu-ray movie), I have not bought a dvd movie since then. It's not just the quality/detail visually but the audio is what also blows me away. I thought Dolby Digital 5.1 was the ultimate in the audio experience but I was wrong. To those who say an upscaled DVD movie is the same as a blu-ray is wrong (I was one of the few who used to say that). The reason I say that is because I got the Fifth Element blu-ray recently & I did a comparison with the dvd version from ages ago. I did a scene comparison together with my brother & girlfriend & the difference is truly amazing. Anyways, I'm probably off topic but I'm very happy that I can also play games from the previous systems that is 10 to 15 years old. Well, there's much more but I don't need to write multiple pages for it. Most of you probably feel the same way as I do if you own one.

I've been a proud owner of the PSone, PS2, PSP and PS3. I think they're all designed with alot of forethought.

The PS3 is undeniably the best console I've ever owned in the 25 years of playing games. Naturally this generation of consoles would be the best anyway and I'm sure they'll only get better. But, the PS3 is awesome.

[QUOTE="Nocturnal_Speed"]

1.) B/C is probably one of the greatest things the Ps3 had to offer and is my pride and joy. I love classic PsX games ala FF, plus the ever growing Ps2 collection is massive with tons of gems scattered through out. With the features as: Full Screen / Smoother Frames completely changes the game experience on either the PsX or Ps2 to amazing heights. It really makes a huge difference and brings back some sweet moments that are even better. (If I didn't have it, I would probably cry...)

2.) The Blu-Ray player is the second best thing this machine/multimedia player has too offer. Blu-ray won the war and is now the corner stone of the Sony PlayStation 3. Every game and movie that contains BD's are more durable and has the ability to contain more content on a single disc, which is impressive and the fact it's all in HD. I love watching Blu-Ray HD movies because im a movie whore...ok that was kind of weird, but I plan on having a huge collection of movies to watch in HD as well as having a system that supports games ala PlayStation 3. (The ceiling is high for Sony and with the Blu disc the future is bright)

3.) The system is not only looks great, but it also has some specs that help it significantly. The Built in Wi-Fi is excellent and wire free. I don't know if that matters to anyone else, but my room doesn't contain wall plug in, so it picks up the signal from the computer room. USB ports were genius; which charges the batteries and also allows you too plug in other accessories though it; such as, PSP.

Online is free and thats a big plus for me. I couldn't see anyone complaining about that I would hope. Why pay for something thats free right?? The online play is pretty sweet (even though im not a huge online person, but some what casual I would say). The Playstation Store is cool with lots of content as in Play Demo's and additional game add-ons. Blu-Ray and Game trailers are a plus and easy to watch. Other then that I sometimes use the Internet, but I would much rather use the PC for that of course.

The new updates are a pleasent surprise sometimes and continous to add other content. Trophies were sweet and in-game messaging was awesome; which made it easier I would assume.

4.) I really like the exclusives that the Ps3 are going to offer in the upcoming months. Resistance was great and R2 should be even better. Killzone 2 looks promising and LBP is looking pretty unique. I met a lot of friends that play SOCOM (which Ive never played, but are really intrested in joining me into there clan once it's release, so that sounds like fun). Uncharted was a pretty sweet game and a even better looking one at that. Folklore looked good, plus I played the review and plan on playing it soon or a later, but havn't since it's not on my "must have" list, but the future looks promising for that franchise. Grand Turismo is probably the best Racing game ever made and have been with that series since the first, so that a Huge plus. And enough is said about Metal Gear Solid 4... Just look at my review for more info.

5.) The Music and Pictures are a plus. Remote-Play is the second greatest content the Ps3 has to offer, which is like having a Multimedia console and Handheld on the go and fly, while STILL! playing Ps1/Ps2 games on it. It's pretty awesome and comes in handy quite nicely.

I'm a casual gamer I would say and it fits me extremely well. I don't have much complaints, because it's my main source when I get home from work or school; which allows me to just kick back and play games, listen to music, watch a Blu-ray movie on my Big screen or just soon to kick back on HOME.

PhysicsLCP

This is an excellent writeup.

i second tht!

everything he said applies to me as well!

i dont think many people realise how useful remote play is!! i use it all the time!

yup u can only play videos, music, view photos and play PS1 games... it would be impossible for the ps3 to run a ps2, ps3, DVD or Bluray disk over an internet connection to ur PSP... it would just be too much... but if possible it would be amazing! lol

of course i'm proud to own PS3. superb machine. however, i'm quite sad of my country. many seller at Malaysia like to cheat the gamers. i have bought a PS3 without a warranty and i have lost about MRY400($100) because of over playing MGS4 (lens was burned). they also sell the game at high price. However now, my country just lunch its own PS3 (I should be patient and buy until it release) and many online game seller which offer better price. it gives me a relief. fuuuh.. my favorite Ace Combat series now not available at PS3 :(

love my Ps3 and play countless of hours everyday (uh... well... yeah...)

People are talking about all the upcoming titles, but many haven't even played the best which Playstation 3 currently has, I've experienced an adventure with Nate in Uncharted. I've taken on the roll as an assassin in Assassin's Creed. I've fallen in love with Kai in Heavenly Sword. I've seen the galaxy in Ratchet and Clank. I've crashed countless of times in MotorStorm, and laughed everytime. I've lead my team to victory in Warhawk. I've butchered aliens in Resistance.

I can go on like this forever, but my point is, I am exteremly happy with my Ps3. I kinda lost interest in games for awhile before it came out.
