[QUOTE="UnrealSin_X"]And why?thegame1980

I'm disappointed with the PS3's lack of games, long development cycles, constant delays, and Sony's out-of-touch with TRUE gamers. Sony should've had the price point more customer friendly from the get go. Sony should've created a more developer friendly console or much more better dev-kits that were actually more manageable for the devs. Now we have some developers who just refuse to work with the PS3 just because of it's architect, in particular the Cell CPU. The GPU in the PS3 should've been more thought out, then it wouldn't be causing a bottleneck in the system.

Sony needs to get in touch with us TRUE gamers again, especially the original PlayStation fans who feel left out and betrayed by Sony. Sony shouldn't have tried to sell the PS3 as a multimedia center first but instead as a gaming machine first and then a multimedia machine last. Lastly, Sony needs to reconnect with it's core audience and realize that the PlayStation name won't stay alive unless Sony has something to back it up with,,, and that's games. So that's why I'm disappointed with the PS3 and Sony.

I agree with this statement on top of the fact I hate the XMB interface and pre installing my games upwards to 10 or more minutes.

So to put it simply as a FORMER Playstation fan YES I am disapointed in Sony and the PS3 and don't like the console as much as I like the 360.

seriously why do you and gamer even come to the ps3 board? All i have ever seen you two do is bash sony and the ps3, not have i ever read something positive you two wrote about the sony/ps3

I come to read news and see what others are posting, not sure why gamer comes. I DO OWN A PS3 YA KNOW so I like to check the boards. If I see a topic I wish to comment on I will. The question was asked are we disappointed in PS3? Well instead of circle jerking each other as Sony fanboys by all saying "No I love my PS3" which who here expected any OTHER type of response I knew I wasn't and Gamer pretty much beat me to the punch with his response. I feel the same way. As a one time Playstation fanatic I was SERIOUSLY let down this gen by Sony's approach to home videogame systems. I have little to nothing to say nice about the console because really in my eyes there is nothing nice to say about it since everything in my opinion it does well the 360 already does and has been doing for 2 years. I'm not a fan of Blu-ray or the XMB or the PSN network or preinstalling games so what else is there to give it credit for that the 360 doesn't already do?

its not the fact that you dont like the PS3, i understand people have their opinions, and thats all good. What i do have a problem with is you and your butt buddy always saying "I dont like this about the PS3, because the 360 does everything so much better". From you especially it always ends with, "i wish there was a law that i can marry my 360 since it does everything so much better than anything else"

Well see it how you want to but in my opinion that's how it is. The 360 HAS been doing what the PS3 does now for a year longer. I get just about the same great gaming expierence without all the other BULL**** that Sony offers or has. It's funny how this annoys you but (and I'm willing to bet money on this) if it was some PS3 fan saying the same thing (which they do day in and day out) about the PS3 you wouldn't have a problem with it. It's ok to praise the console, but not to discuss it's shortcomings or say ANYTHING negatively about it? PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG! HELP ME SEE THE ALMIGHTY PS3 FOR WHAT IT IS! If it's so damn great please show me how. I'm willing to listen.

Not at all... I have all three systems and, at this point, definitely get the most mileage out of my PS3.

I look at it this way: the console has an Elder Scrolls game, a GTA game and, soon, a Civilization game. Mine's also backwards compatible with the best console since the NES, the PS2.

i could seriously care less about someones opinon on the ps3, but what your still failing to relize is my point that, what your doing is constantly comparing it to a console your bias for, that how all of your arguments go, comparing to a 360, so your trying to turn every thread into system wars. Also for the record, your opinon of what makes the ps3 subpar are the reasons people buy it, with the exception of installing games, which earlier your were whining about 10 minute installs, seriously 10 mins?

Call it whining if you want to but the fact is we shouldn't have to install the game PERIOD! It is NOT a PC it's a home videogame console and that is/was one of the main reasons I prefer home vidoegame consoles over PC gaming. I find it absolutely ironic how PS3 fans consider it "whining" when someone complains about installs be it 5 minutes or 10 but when the discussion is about switching discs to compensate for lack of memory on a DVD9 they laugh and call it a burden. Double standards and hypocrisy RULE with the PS3 fanboys it seems. If you care less about ones opinon on the PS3 then ignore my posts and move on.

i don't have a problem with switching discs either, just not very economical to have a 6 disc game, and i doubt you will see many 6 disc games, which kind of puts a hamper on your precious 360's upcoming games.

I was sorely disappointed with the PS2 and hated it. Never bought one. But I love the PS3. I remember buying a PS1 at launch and all the guys in my dorm were making fun of me: "Dude, the Saturn is the console to get. Why is SONY making video games?" Months later they were all in my room playing Twisted Metal, Battle Arena Toshindon, and later all those PS1 classics. But when the PS2 came out, it put an early death to my Dreamcast which has awesome launch games, fantastic graphics, on-line play. I mean it was the first console where you could read the skateboards and tshirts in Tony Hawk. I never liked the fuzzy, pixelated graphics of the PS2. Now that I bought a PS3 at launch I am a fan of Sony once again. Some of the best games I've played in the past few years have all been their exclusives (Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, MGS4, Motorstorm). Again, I am definitely no longer disappointed with Sony.

Yes, because they're taking their time with everything. It shouldn't take a complete year to get something that looks really good on a system. When the ps2 came out, it had tekken tag tournament and ridge racer 5. But the best looking ps3 game at launch was ridge racer 7? Come on. Even resistence had too many last gen qualitys to make it even seem like a great graphical competetor. The whole game is littered with that ugly yellow tint, to help out the framerate.

Mgs4 is only the 2nd game on the system that takes advantage of its true power. The last one was uncharted, but it was hampered by bad VO and missing features *IE can't crouch in cover? newb forgetfullness*. Though most of the games that look truely amazing still have to have their resolution hampered with and then upscaled. *mgs4, or at least some cutscenes were*

Most multiplatform games still have some major issues on the ps3. So I have to stick with them on the 360. Its just from where this system is so hard to develop for. Even the ps2 was hard to develop for, but its one year head start allowed it to succeed from its where the money was made.

Guess in a way, you could consider this gen just like last. The xbox for 3rd and 1st party games, and the ps2 for its good exclusive lineup.

My question is, whats sonys ideas for the next gen? I mean, the next system will come out from someone in just 2 years, but making another hard to develop for system wouldn't be smart.

hazuki

Drake auto-crouches when the cover is the right height. If you can find me a single instance in the game where Drake just stands there in cover while the wall comes up to his waist, let me know. Noob forgetfulness on your part, maybe.

Ummm not really, Im glad they are trying at least. I have a Wii and mostly all the good games are made only by nintendo(1st party). Im just impressed the people at Sony actually cared to work on the Online Gaming. Back on the ps2 it was only Socom 2.

You couldn't have said it better. I think they should look at the topic title and realize that we're simply answering the question that was asked by the thread creator which is "are you disappointed with Sony and the PS3?" But of course they would ignore that because they feel we all should be remote controlled zombies who comehere like you said and "circle fanboy jerk each-other" (I paraphrased you)! I've said plenty of good things about the PS3, but PS3 fanboys ignore it because in their mind you must lie to yourself and say all positive things about Sony and the PS3 and if not, you're considered a 360 fanboy. I think they need to realize that the PS3's 10-min install for some games is absolutely crazy. I've come to the conclusion that the reason they come and attack me and perhaps you when we voice our concerns with the PS3 is pretty much because they have no games to keep them busy *hence the game delays*.

HELL NO!!!! its the best system in the market why would i be mobster49ers

Couldn't have said it better myself. I also wanna add that the ps3 is a MUCH better value than the 360. Even though the 40gig ps3 is $50 more than the 20gig 360, you're getting: (1) 20 more gigs (2) a free online gaming (3) built-in wifi (4) a BLU-RAY player. O yea, the ps3 is a LOT more reliable as well.

nope. i don't see why i should be; i'm happy with my purchase and game library. it's not like i invest in sony stock to be upset (it actually may have rose over the years though, but i'm just trying to prove a point where i would actually be dissapointed...)

No, I'm not disappointed with Sony or the PS3... Instead, I'm disappointed with developers...disappointed instead that developers can't get their act together and all make content for the PS3 that is as quality as Metal Gear Solid 4Brendruis
It's not exactly fair to compare all game developers to Konami, and Metal Gear Solid is one of the highest acclaimed series in gaming history. Kojima has had tons of practice on previous titles, and he had the money to throw at a game like MGS4.

Now for the topic, no I am not dissapointed with Sony or the developers. They have done fairly well for what time they have had, and for using the new technology.

The only thing I am dissapointed about Sony is they removed the PS3 60GB and they never gave the PAL PS3 60GB the emotion engine like USA and Japan.

I am also dissapointed about SCEE not releasing the PS3 80GB for Europe and only stuck with the PS3 40GB.

But appart from that I think the PS3 is a good console I just wish SCEE treats Europe, Australia ect the same like SCEA and SCEJ.

What's going on guys; First let me say I have been around theses forums for about a 1.5 years now and would frequently browse the ps3 and xbox 360 forums, since I own those two consoles. For some odd reasons I just decided to join today so I will input on a topic I see reasonable.

Now on topic... IN MY OPINION, The PS3 as a gaming system had a tough start at the beginning of its console life cycle but has greatly improved since. We all are aware with the PS3 developer's issuses, artitechture issues, online issue, etc. but no one console is perfect. These issues will more than likely be addressed in the near future, as we seen with some of the later games. Now as Media Device, The PS3 has been awesome. We all are aware of the Blu-Ray, Wireless, free themes etc. but the system is very friendly with other media devices which is always a plus when comparing to proprietary products.

Now with that said, and for all the hype, as a gaming platform the PS3 has been a tab dissapointing espicially when compared to the competition. As a media device though the ps3 is one of, if not the best media device on the market at the moment. Overall, the reliabilty and my use of the system makes it a solid and appreciative product in my home.

PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF EVERYONE'S OPINION

When the PS3 came out, i was very much against buying it. I ended up getting one because all the games I wanted at the time were multi-plat. and the games coming out that I wanted (MGS4 and FFXIII) were exclusive to the PS3. My roommate at the time had a Wii, so I didn't even consider that. I got mine in January and loved it! I did consider myself a Sony fanboy until they released a system for $500!, but now that I have it, I am coming back into fanboy-dom. Anyway, no I am no disappointed with Sony or the Ps3 this gen(or last gen....or the one before that). They certainly had some issues in the begining(price, lack of good games, supply), but most of those have been fixed. They could use more games like MGS4, but i'm sure, given time, we will get them.

I'm not sure why people are complaining about the instalation. As games get better, and bigger, we need to chose between longer load times or an instal. For me its a no brainer(never mind I really don't have a choice, but if i did, I would much rather have a one time 10 minute instalation then a 1 minute load time every time it changes levels or something.)

My PS3 rocks! I do plan on getting an X-box and a Wii at some point in the future, so i'm not a total fanboy.

The way I see it is this: I had a reason and was dissapointed with the PS3 from the very beginning and now it looks very promising with in game XMB around the corner and some good exclusives already out and representing. This is the complete opposite of the Wii, which at first was all the bees knees. Now it has no future in my heart and has begun collecting dust. While the PS3 is only going up from here in my books.

Now does the PS3 play all the PS1 ans PS2 games? If not, then I'm disapointed with Sony.

All in all the PS3 is a nice system and don't have any major complaints as of yet.

To a certain extent I am disappointed with sony this gen because if COD4 had not been released I would feel like I wasted my money because I have not played any game near as much as I have COD4. The most I've played other games is maybe a tenth of what I've played of COD4. I'm also happy with the free online but I did pay extra for that when I bought the console and I'm going to have to pay for a bigger gig drive. In the end its just an awful lot of money for a machine that is only going to entertain me for a few years and then theres something else to buy. Like I said without COD4 yep its a waste of money in my opinion.

No, I'm happy with the games I spend my money on:D however, I am a little frustrated about 2 things:x but far from disappointed but #1 and most important is the lack of JRPG's at this moment:x( I know a lot of people complain about this but there was a lot of happy RPG fanboys in the ps2 days that expected the same love with the ps3 I was one of them:P) but I do know there coming in the coming months - year so its not so bad I can catch up on some the the ones I missed or skipped on the ps2 :)#2 Is the price of the remote come on seriously the same as a game?!?!?!?:? whenever I have the cash to get a new remote a good game comes out so I'm left with one player games or online to play other people and I can't really be disappointed with Sony because I'm short on cash as no one else has the same problem do they?

A little. I am very disappointed how they promised full BC, gave us full BC, and then took it away. Now we have some BC that is only available for a limited time. Then Europe and other regions are completed screwed.

They would rule if they kept the 60gb and 40gb options.

Needles-Kane

I agree. They took out BC and upped the price for us Aussies. And now they made up stories about how they couldn't add rumble to the controller. Now they have magically figured it out- we all knew why, but the way they go about things.

On the plus side- I am enjoying the system updates and how they enhance our experience with PS3.

It seems that the people who are disappointed, either have very limited tastes in genres or hate it because it doesn't have every game on it like the previous ones. Let me give you a hint. You can't get by with just one system anymore. Companies want to expand their business and make money from all platforms or haven't you noticed. Just a heads up for the RPG whiners, there is Disgaea 3 and Valkyria Chronicles. Also Namco has sold the development team behind Xenosaga so, yeah if they make another one, it won't be coming to ps3. I say this only to let people know so we don't see threads about Xenosaga 4 not coming ps3. As far as games running worse on PS3, yes that was true in the early, but not anymore really. Yes EA and Ubisoft will still port crap over and so on, but most games that have come out since January have been equal to 360.

Burnout Paradise

GTA 4

DMC 4

Top Spin 3

Battlefield Bad Company

Grid

and so on

The only ones that ran worse were vegas 2 and nascar, but who are those games made or published by?

Most of the games that are worth playing have run equal.

Oblivion

COD 4

lets look at games that were crap

Timeshift

Area 51

Viking Battle of Asguard

Turok

yes all of those games played worse on ps3, but how many of those games were cool to begin with?

The only exception I would say is Half Life, but we knew that was going to run worse since the main guy doesn't like PS3 and they gave it to guess who EA.

We are getting more 3rd party support.

Nippon Ichi Software

Sega

Level 5

2 games or more from Namco

the twisted metal guys new studio, Eat Sleep Play, has got 3 games coming exclusively to ps3

Rockstar might have a game, but I don't think they will live up to it.

The guys who did Indigo Prophecy, I don't know what their name is sorry.

Konami has stated that they like the openess of the PSN, so I exepect another exclusive game from them.

You have the Wardevil guys.

You have all just been pwned.

How do you report people by the way?

Mgs4 is only the 2nd game on the system that takes advantage of its true power. The last one was uncharted, but it was hampered by bad VO and missing features *IE can't crouch in cover? newb forgetfullness*. Though most of the games that look truely amazing still have to have their resolution hampered with and then upscaled. *mgs4, or at least some cutscenes were*

excelR83

Drake auto-crouches when the cover is the right height. If you can find me a single instance in the game where Drake just stands there in cover while the wall comes up to his waist, let me know. Noob forgetfulness on your part, maybe.

When your in say a pillar, you can't crouch. Its plain and simple. Might not seem like much, but it lowers how much an enemie can see you and actually can see you.

I know when say you have a broken piller lying on the ground, he'll crouch automatically. But you can manually do that in the big items, that could potentially prevent a few shots from hitting you, as you're a smaller target. Worked in gears, mgs2/3/4, and killswitch, so don't even try to say its not useful.

Very well put. Of the 3 systems the PS3 has the brightest future by far.

Nopes, and i have no regrets buying the PS3 and PSP over Nintendo and Microsoft products. I think they could make things more user friendly, like PSN and bundling things with the system (maybe 2 controllers, headset for online play, HDMI cables, etc)

i don't have a problem with switching discs either, just not very economical to have a 6 disc game, and i doubt you will see many 6 disc games, which kind of puts a hamper on your precious 360's upcoming games.bigburd

Thus far DVD9 has NOT hampered the 360. I have enjoyed some of the best gaming this gen and have no complaints. I love the doom and gloom predictions for the 360 from the Sony fanboys no matter HOW many times they are proven wrong.

[QUOTE="UnrealSin_X"]And why?gamer082009

I agree with this statement on top of the fact I hate the XMB interface and preinstalling my games upwards to 10 or more minutes.

So to put it simply as a FORMER Playstation fan YES I am disappointed in Sony and the PS3 and don't like the console as much as I like the 360.

seriously why do you and gamer even come to the ps3 board?

Exactly! The question was asked and I as a PS3 owner am disappointed in the console. What's the point of having this topic then if those who are disappointed in it can not express their feelings? I'm not looking to cause a war I'm simply stating my opinion and experience with the console and since I do in fact own one I feel I have the right to do so.

Thank you.

Finally someone who is being subjective and can see what has happened. The *** business men went for the quick buck off the Sony Playstation name, and now are left with a (claimed) loss. They pushed the lateness of its delivery as because of its technology power, and hasnt proven anything against the X360 really has it? I remember some wild predictions when it was about to be released and now those have fizzled into the background, with the X360 holding it own, very nicely.

Besides Gears (which i still play more than anything, The last 5 games I have bought have been for my PS3 JUST HOPING they would be better,,,) Oh yeah, they havent been (GTA IV, 2K8 Basketball, Assasin's, FIFA and GT 5 prologue {which was crap}).
