I just bought my PS3 a 3 weeks ago, so....unrealtronNobody said you had to jump onto the PS4 bandwagon right away. You've still got quite a backlog to get through anyway.

actually sony never said they were working on the ps4, they only said they are working on a new console (which right now is the ngp)
I personally think it is possibly too soon but as the competition are speculating about its successors you have to say that its only a matter of time before sony start talking about it. As if they didn't and didn't release it soon after the next xbox and wii then they would lose alot of business and they can't risk that especially after the fiasco with PSN.alex-willoz
right now, the only new console coming out next year is the new nintendo. both sony and microsoft never said anything about working on the ps4 or the new xbox so expect the ps4 and the new xbox around 2014 at the earliest
Totally ready.. The PS3's cell processor may be ahead of the other consoles in CPU power, but the PS3's graphics processor is way outdated. (As well as all the other consoles..) Seriously, I think it's a shame upcoming games like Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3 are gonna have visuals held back by a GPU that's almost 5 generations old. And also, Sony should ditch the cell.. Bad move on Sony's part. Expensive at first, and not really an advantage over the other consoles because developers had no idea how to program for it.deathxxshark
What?!? The graphics are improving all the time, Uncharted 3 will be stunning, no way near outdated. The same goes for many other games in the near future.
[QUOTE="gmaster456"][QUOTE="bbkkristian"]Its way too soon, I don't have a $600 to spend on a PS4. :|bbkkristianIt won't be $600. Blu ray has gotten much cheaper and sony won't have to charge more to cover CELL development costs. Besides nobody said you HAD to buy it. No, its most likely going to be higher. Knowing Sony, they will beef up their system to the max, [not a bad thing]. Prices are only going up though, especially in America.
God, how much I hate people complaining for prices in America. In my country you know how much a PS3 costs right now, 5 years after release? $439. :x
You know how much it costed on release date? $999
You know how much games on release date cost here? $100
Please stop complaining about the PS4 costing $600. PS4 costing only $600 would be the most awesome thing of the year. I have seen so many people in forums saying that $60 for a game is too much
Sometimes, I just hope I lived in America :(

Yeh that's what I read as well, that they referred to NGP. On the original article, it said that Kaz Hirai wanted a 10 year life. I give up, I'm just going to quietly play PS3, and let Sony do their job. They'll decide when it's time for a new console. Besides, as many have said, PS3 has plenty of juice left yet.The new system will probably be out in 2 years, buit it will still have new games for it in 2014. Sony isn't going to let Nintendo's new console have a 3 year game library and the company have nothing. Games are what sell systems. People tend to buy the system with the most games. If PS3 comes out in 2014, then this leaves Nintendo wide open to build up its userbase. Nintendo also will have a huge library of games on its new system before the PS4 comes out. Are people going to actually buy a system with 15-20 games over a system with 250-300 games? Nintendo could also come out with quite a few triple A titles in 3 years. Games like Smash Bros, Star Fox, F-Zero, Mario, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, and Mario Kart could all hit the Cafe by the time PS4 hits shelves. It is fine to wait to release a new system, but it is not good to wait too long.

The 10 year cycle does not mean it will be 10 years before PS4 is released.
I'd be more interested in seeing what 3rd party devs do with the Cafe. Aside from mario, DK and smash bros, nintendos first party has gotten kind of dull imo.The new system will probably be out in 2 years, buit it will still have new games for it in 2014. Other than how you personally feel, you know that the Marios, Metroid Star Foxes, F-Zeros, and Pikmins sell a lot units. Nintendo could have most of these games out on Cafe by 2014. Why do you think everyone bought a 360 instead of a PS3 other than because of the price? Quantity wise, the 360 had good amount of games in its first year. What will the Cafe library look like being out 2 years before PS4?

I understand what you are trying to say and you are correct, I was just stating what I feel personally. There's no question that a console released 2 years before a Sony console would move much more units, especially a nintendo console.[QUOTE="deathxxshark"]Totally ready.. I've been spoiled by expensive PC gaming o.o lol. After months of playing on a PC I built last summer, and playing my PS3 afterwards.... yeah.. All the consoles are seriously in need of an upgrade :/Playing through games like Killzone 3 and Gran Turismo 5; sure they look good, but its obvious that developers had to make huge sacrifices to the visuals to maintain smooth gameplay, and I'm pretty sure Uncharted 3 will be no different.
If you think about it, the PS3's graphics processor (the Nvidia RSX) is basically a 7800gt, which is pretty much smoked by any mid range graphics card today. You could build a computer that could smoke the PS3 with $500, which is less than what the PS3 costed at its launch.
I personally think its a great time for a new line of consoles.

I TOTALLY agree! As I have been a PC gamer since forever and I picked my PS3 2 months ago I have to say: GUYS, THE PS3 IS STRUGGLING BIG TIME, IN A LOT OF GAMES.
When Killzone 2 and Dirt 2 (which are 2009 games) are running at 2-25 fps, alongside with a lot of other games it's obvious that PS3's graphics have no potential.
Most people who are reading this will be like: "Nooo, all PS3 games run smooth". Well that's why you guys are console gamers. When there is a lot in the sreen (Killzone 2) the PS3 even crashes sometimes.
The most stupidid thing is when people say that PS3 has 8 processors. PS3 has 1 processor.
PC vs Xbox vs PS3
PS4 now :D
I think its way too soon for new consoles, I really don't think they can get any better besides all 3d games or virtual reality.
I cant believe they confirmed the PS4. I just bought my freakin PS3 and expected atleast 3-4 more years out of it. I mean look at how long the PS2 lasted, I hope consoles dont start moving as fast as PC Hardware.

actually sony never confirmed the ps4, that was the sony/psn customers that said its the ps4

GameSpot may as well make a PS4 section now, people are clogging the PS3 section with PS4 threads. Even 'if' Sony decide to make a PS4, it's not going to magically appear tomorrow.
