Personally I can't take a game out of my PS3 until I have at least completed it. And I also attempt to complete said game on the highest difficulty available, often attempting to get the most trophies and hopefully a platinum

So, how thorough are you guys ?

I am always tempted to play another game, I'm trying to complete Uncharted right now, but I just had the sudden urge to start playing The Orange Box again, I dont know why! Had to use my willpower to keep playing Drakes Fortune :)

Not usually. I play games at leisure. Maybe if I collected trophies it would be different, but if I'm bored with a game I won't keep playing it for the sake of having it completed. That makes playing games feel like a task.

I think that's the best way to game. I used to have such dedication, but not so much anymore. I'll try again, it really helps you to feel great.

I try to at least beat a game's single player on the standard difficulty. That's my bare minimum. I'll then either try it on the hardest difficulty (KZ2), get 100% of everything (inFamous), or get all of the trophies (LBP). But, if it's not a joy to play anymore, I'll switch to a different game, and try again after a couple weeks. So far, I haven't played any PS3 games in which I haven't at least beat the story/single player once.

I get distracted very easily, just recently i got my 1st platinum in Infamous but other than that i ama mess. For example, I ll start a franchise in MLB 09 the show for example with the Red Sox, then because i liked the Athletics road unis, id stop my franchise and play with the As. Then i ll decide to not play at all for 2 days and see if i want to get back to an MMORPG, spend 15 bucks and get tired after 2 days, then go back to playing with the Red Sox, lol its crazy but true

It depends. If I have a whole day of complete freedom then I'll dedicate it to playing thoroughly. However if I've just got in from work or had a long day the last thing on my mind is to be thorough in gaming. I'll just play casually to unwind.

I rarely finish games. I rarely get more than 50% trophies. I love getting caught up in hype and buying new games, selling the old ones. I sold MGS4, my favorite game. Guess that tells you something about me. I'm a whore.

If I get a new game I don't play another game until I finish the story. Once I at least finish the story then I go back to switchbetween games like RB2, Disgaea 3, Blazblue, and Dark Cloud 2.

I don't like looking at my pile of games and seeing some that are uncompleted it feels like I havent got my moneys worth.

So if im keeping the game I at least finish the story mode and usualy play extensivly trying to get most of the collectables etc (Mostly because I rarely buy games so I can get the most out of the ones I do buy)

If its a bad game I trade it in fro a better one.

I'll usually stick to the same game on a certain system until I have beaten it, but I will play three games on three different systems at any given time. It just depends what I am in the mood for.

It all depends on the game.

I've played hundreds of hours of MLB 09: The Show and Fallout 3, but only about 6 hours into inFamous. I play games in cycles; right now I'm in Baseball mode. I like to keep a diverse collection of games so that I can switch between genres on a regular basis.

I do make it a point to try and beat most of my games nowadays. Still have to complete BioShock, inFAMOUS, and Valkyria Chronicles.

knicknut17

this.

I switch games depending on my mood. Like I just need to beat impossible mode in Dead Space to get the platinium, but since I haven't been in mood for that I don't make myself play just to get the trophy, makes it fell like a chore.

but everytime I buy a game I always finish at least the SP campaign.

I try to finish all of my games. I also like to go through them and try to get everything possible out of them. So I would say I'm very thorough.

I generally only play one game at a time, I usually play on the hardest difficulty (Game/Trophy dependant) and I like to complete 100%. I get a huge sense of achievement beating a game totally, but it can take some time (I only have a few hours a week, unless the game is awesome then I just won't sleep!). I usually jump out of my chair when I get past a really difficult part or do something really special - I like to get really involved, just like with watching/playing sport.

Personally I'll play up to 3 games at a time. Switching between them. I never really cared about trophies. I usually only collect about 46 - 60% of the trophies per game. But again I don't try. So to me thats not bad.I can usually beat games on the normal difficulty and the hard but I never even attempt the hardest difficulties especially on FPS's. I suck at FPS's. Well may be not suck but I can't beat the hardest difficulty thats for sure. I'm an expert at racing games.

I always finish story-based games and grind for the easiest trophies for some replay value. Racing games and fighters are played from time to time though.

Not so much "beating it" unless I really like the story. But I do "feel better" when I've unlocked everything. Especially with a fighting game. I'm not happy until the entire roster's unlocked:lol:

But I do beat every game I own. It's just not a task I set, I just want to play it until it ends.

Luckily only one and that was back in the days of 2 player ISS Pro 98, How I hated when a mate was Brazil!!!!

Usually I get all Zen when I'm stuck on a game and get really determined to beat it, I remember doing a sniper mission in COD2 for upwards of two hours - Squad AI was too **** to cover me as I took out wave upon wave of German douche bags!!!

I usually try to finish the story on every game I buy.

Some of the games I might never play again, but with a game like Timesplitters that I really like I will try to complete/unlock everything.

It really depends on the Game, there are to much Games out there which didn't motivated me enough to get through them, but if I enjoy a Game, I usually get trough them. I have to really love it to get trough it a second time or to do additional stuff ^^

when I get a game with strong story (JRPG) or fun gameplay (I hope for Borderlands), I play only that game until bored by it, but I have to take it off the PS3 sometimes to watch Blu-ray movies

I don't play every game thoroughly.

One reason is, I'm just not that good. And the other thing is, I'd beat a game, and won't feel like doing it all over again, so I'll move on to a new game, thinking I'll get back to it later, so it feels fresher, but, man, great new games out there just keep coming on non-stop.

Oh man, I'm backed up on my games . I bought Wet, Red Faction, Batman, and didn't finish them yet . I just picked up Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and I'm sure I'll probably stop playing halfway. Awesome games, but I can't help but get the new ones coming out, and being tempted to try them out. Then I end up forgetting about the ones I bought a few weeks ago :P. Damn short attention span...

I'll always try and get the most out of my games and usually I will be pretty thorough with them but sometimes I really can't be bothered with certain games, this is usually RPGs like Oblivion and Fallout 3 with all the hidden junk and then there's FPSs like Killzone 2 which will have crap like symbols and intel to collect.

Same here and i game on three platforms so that makes it even harder to stick to one game for too long. Usuallu i have 3-5 games i play monthly consistently. When Red faction came out i played that to death and madden other than that i have about 24 other Ps3 games that I need to beat through completely.

I finish a game on normal difficulty. Sometime in the future if I play it again, I can go to hard difficulty, work on finding more stuff, upgrading the weapons farther, etc. I like to have some value left in my games after I finish them the first time. If I got all the trophies and completed everything, I'd be sick to death of the game and never want to see it again.

Lol, trophies. Anyways, I complete all of my PS3 games. Even if I think they need to burn in the deepest ring of Hell...(Shining Force Neo). Can't thoroughly bash a game you haven't beaten, right?
