Honestly, wtf is going on here? i bought the PS3 for all the JRPG's, and then i find out their all releasing on Xbox 360, Square enix have really dissapointed me this time, probably paid by microsoft to release everything on xbox now, and wouldn't suprise me if FF13 follows this trend.

I used to have a lot of respect for Square, But now they seem to be just after the money, i mean a huge chunk of their loyal fanbase is in Japan, so let's go release our JRPGS on a console with 200k sold...

I really don't want to have't to buy a xbox 360 too, i've never bought 2 next gen consoles before, but with the way things are going, i won't have any JRPGS to play this year, just as i did not last year, on my ps3 which is just gathering dust.

What do you other rpg fans think of this?

What does Square Enix have to do with this? They never went to the 360.

Though I'm a bit suspicious of Atlus, they've been making games for the 360 only lately, well they still have that PS3 which I hope will still be exclusive.

Ya, I'm pissed off at Square-Enix right now. But just remember that Star Ocean 4 and the Last Remnant are still coming to the PS3 we just have to wait a little longer. If you're looking for RPG's then we're getting Disgaea 3, Valkyrie Chronicles, and hopefully Eternal Sonta and White Knight Story. And don't worry about Final Fantasy XIII/Versus going to the 360, I'm willing to bet my PS3 that Sony already got that locked up.

hahah i find that as "the sad truth"

money talks. if you look at SE's recent games, all of them are FF spin-offs or remakes, so they try everything to gain money but fail then scold their emplyoees. so when they see some cash when they agree to make games on 360 they jump on the offer thats all

well its all because of FPS genre imo. because people wants graphics and fps genre is the easiest way to show it...

Square-Enix have everything to do with this. They've been in bed with Microsoft lately (Star Ocean 4 and The Last Remnant timed exclusive for the 360.)

their incoming games are for 360 mostly. only FF13 and FFvs13 are PS3 exclusive while they have at least 3 360 exclusives that i dont know their names ( because they are 360 games which i dont care )

Yeah, square enix has everything to do with this they have 3 rpgs incoming onto the xbox, one being co-delevoped, every star ocean has been on playsation (minus one) which is remade onto the PSP. Last Remnant is a timed exclusive, however it seems that star ocean 4 is actuley a exclusive with no intention to bring it to the ps3. I hope the sales bomb in all honestly, and their fanbase riots outside their offices.

I'm extremely disappointed in SE as of late. It's obvious that they can push devlopment of FFXIII/VS along much quicker, but they're focusing all their attention on these Multi-plats, then releasing them on a console that is pretty much non-existant in Japan.

Honestly, money really does talk.

Yeah, i'm really interested to see how the japan market reacts to this, wether they will actuley buy a xbox 360 for these, or just lose faith in square, i think they forget their actuley a japanese company.

Honestly i think if those xbox 360 exclusives do well they will also release FF13 on xbox 360, it's much easier to create a multi-disc rpg, by just fitting the movies onto diffrent discs.

Why is people blaming Square-Enix. They are a company out to make money and thats never changed. The only reason some companies was loyal to the PS2 is because it was the most advanced system so there was no choice but to bring games to the PS2 only.

The problem was created by Sony at the start of the PS3 life. Think back to when it was released and it had a really low consoles sales and games sales ratio. Game developers also was having a hard time developing games as they was still getting used to the hardware. Game developers at that time was more reluctant to make exclusive games as they didn't know if they would make there money back with the way the PS3 was looking. Games coming out now would have to had to start developing back then so you should be glad some of them are only timed exclusive on the 360 as if the PS3 never improved in sales as it did then you wouldn't even had got the timed exclusives and FF might have had to go multi-plateform.

I don't know about everyone else, but i'm angry at the fact that Square-Enix OBVIOUSLY got paid by microsoft to release on this console, that is why WE are very mad, I wouldn't mind if they released on Xbox360 cause it would sell a lot more on it, that is false however since we all know it would sell much better on ps3 (in japan ATLEAST) and most likely everywhere else too.

I agree that these types of game would sell better on the PS3 in Japan but that is exactly why MS is buying these games to help its sell the 360 in Japan. This is an obvious move that Sony could have stopped by getting in their first to buy exclusive rights.

In all honestly. i'm most mad at the fact i won't get to play these games unless i shell out another £200 on a xbox. Which at the time i thought there would be no chance these games would actuley go to that system, and with square's past, that seemed pretty clear...

Sony, Saga, Nintendo have all bought excluive rights to games before just like MS is doing. It is part of the console market and its been going on for years.

Thats pretty much it. I've lost it. My pissed offedness is up to epic levels. I'd bet mine too on FF13 staying exclusive, but only because if it does go to 360, then there NO POINT IN HAVING THE PS3. That would be complete game over, bad end, no light at the end of the tunnel, all the theories were true and Sony and IBM sold us an expensive movie player trojan horse. God, I hope MGS4 can help ease the sting of this BS.

As I said in another thread, while these games will sell in the US and Europe, the main market is still Japan, which is why this makes no sense to me. Hardly anyone in Japan has a 360.

That's not a lot...I'm guessing Sony is going the route of quality over quantity this gen.

This is maddening. Where, WHERE does it say that Microsoft paid Square for Star Ocean 4 and the Last Remnant exclusivity? When has Microsoft not been totally honest about their spending habits? When have they not told the world they spent ridiculous amounts of money in order to secure exclusives for their loyal customers.

Answer? They haven't. They pride themselves in spending the money to bring the games that their consumers want to their console. There is nothing, NOTHING written that says they paid for either game to be exclusive.

What IS written, is Square-Enix's president saying that they don't want Sony to be an overwhelming victor this time around and that they were going to spread things out this gen to the other consoles, including the Xbox 360.

Hardly anybody in Japan has a PS3 if you want to get technical about it. If anything, expect more Square RPG's on the Wii and DS. And yes, this does mean I expect Kingdom Hearts 3 to be a Wii game.

Yes. A lot more people have Wiis, but I think it'll get a little more even with MGS4 and FFXIII.

TheSystemLord1

It seems more like they want sony to fail and fail hard. I understand spreading out things by making them multi, but holding a version back is just plain retarted.

Too Human and Fable are not JRPGS, you fail.

Oh just noticed Infinite Discovery was on 360, and Last Remnant prolly wont reach PS3 till next year. They'll notice the mistake they made when the Haloized market of the 360 doesnt buy JRPGs.

I buy them? Almost everyone I know has purchased LO, Blue Dragon, and Eternal Sonata. Hell, some even bought Enchanted Arms.

your fanboyism is bigger than your control mechanism...

paying for exclusivity is not bad thing. its"how the things work" way. the thing is sony doesnt care so ps3 owners lose many chances. sony got used to not pay money for exclusivity because they had 100 million ps2 unit sales so any company would choose ps2 to sell games more. however in this gen they should either go multiplatform or to machine that gives money even without selling games because there is no big difference in sales unlike ps2 vs xbox+gc

japanese people are more patriot then you are. when they visit a country and rent a car, they rent a japanese car, same goes for everything. thinking a japanese company to do a favor to an american company is out of question. so unless its business they wouldnt do that. m$ pays, se accepts. thats business. it was never meant to be fair anyway.

so its just disappointing news for ps3 owners.

also no company would brag what they paid for exclusivity, it wouldnt make sense.

There is no fanboyism in my post? I am just sick and tired of people pointing the proverbial shaking finger at Microsoft and screaming "bribery!" When it just isn't happening in this situation. Microsoft announces all of their major financial transactions because it is a very positive thing that shows they care deeply about the quality of the games available on their system.

To hear people bad mouth Microsoft out of jealousy that Sony won't man up and play ball just boils my blood. Microsoft is not to blame here, even if they were paying Square. Sony is to blame for thinking that they are still the king of videogames when they have been absolutely demolished this gen by both of the other consoles.

most likely The Last Remnant will be more a strategy real time RPG and I won't buy it anyway, and I still have to see what SO4 will be gameplay wise, and to please X360 bots it will surely be an action/shooter/RPG like Mass Effect and I won't like it either ... DAMN Microcrap is really destroying gaming fun ...

Probably paid?

WE all know the 360 sells like crap on japan, and microsoft sees these games as its only chance of survival over there, so ofcourse they have to pay for them. This is why I cant stand MS lately, and the only reason why I wont get a console by them, since they are only buying the good games, instead of themselfes doing them, and ruinning the market.

Where I come from. Money talks and BS walks. Either Sony mans up and starts paying, or they can feast on leftovers. Before I am called a fanboy, never owned a ex-box never will. I have been with Sony since the Walkman. It is disapointing as a longtime fan to see Squarsoft starting to pull away from them. What I do not get is that NOBODY in Japan has a 360.

Its called being a decent poster, why flood forum pages with extra long quotes. You do know your post gets deleted if you go above 5 quotes right?

I know perfectly well what I said. And I stand buy it. They announced GTA4's DLC and that was $50,000,000. They have no problem announcing that they paid for exclusivity. So Bioshock may be an exception, I accept that. But they have gone on record saying that they spend money on exclusives because they care about the Xbox product and making it synonymous with quality.

Its a patriotism/loyalty thing. They usually buy domestiv products over foreign ones. However Mistwalker's success over there (they sold something like 250,000 units of Blue Dragon in a month) is probably the business model Square was looking at when making this decision.

Until I get the RROD (1.2 years and counting) it really is a non-issue to me.

We are talking about games here. And Microsoft has gone above and beyond to make sure that the 360 has the absolute best library this gen. Nobody can deny this.

I can't wait for all of the Playstation 3 exclusives as much as the next person, but outside of the major exclusives that we have known about since day 1 Sony hasn't given us very many new games to be excited for. They keep banking on these games as if they will sell consoles for 5-7 years.

Big wow! 250 copies of blue-dragon in a month as a success! If SqureEnix game sells that poorly, it'd be a failure. And that Star Ocean's exlusivity on xbox360 will be a failure and SqureEnix knows it. But guess what, M$ pays so much to SqureEnix that even if star oceans doesn't sell, SqureEnix would still make money.

And this move is coinsidental to M$ push for its desperate Japan market. Well, we will see if it's worth M$'s efforts. The fact is, if JRPGs don't sell well on xbox360 (and it didn't sell well, from the envidence presented by Eternal Sonorta and blue-dragon), eventually we will see them on ps3 or wii.

Kusimekaa

yaa same here , im really angry , i love RPG games and sll i can see for the ps3 e FPS games its so boring .. even the psp got no games *sigh*
