Bayonetta demo is LIVE as of 10/7 9:06 PM PST

I still have failed to see why this game is such a big to some people. I mean, there are like 3 other games like it all coming out within the next 6 months. One of them being God of War 3. Is it because it's a half naked hot librarian chick who fight with her hair? Ya, that must be it.

It's funny how people here keep automatically assuming I don't like this game. I have yet to say one bad thing about it. The only thing I've presented about it so far is it's similarities towards other games in it's particular genre. I haven't even played the demo yet, therefore I'm not in any place to pass judgment on it. And hazel, don't give me that ridiculous argument about the "nobleness" and "honor," or as you put it, "sport" of debating. I've been demonized since I walked into this thread. And only because I've been one of the few(maybe the only) people here who hasn't been fawning over Bayonetta. I throw one mean comment out and I get a lecture. C'mon hazel, look at this dude's last post. Don't tell me it wasn't completely sarcastic and unnecessary. Why didn't he get a lecture? Was it because I was more straight forward with my insult? Or was it because that I'm not on your side of the debate? Again, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, just think about it, kay?;)

I'm just gonna add some more hype to this and say................. Bayonetta is gonna be GOTY for 2010! Well, not exactly but The Last Guardian has a damn good competitor :P

I was hyped for this game before but after playing the demo I'm only more hyped. Can't wait for the full game in January. Nonstop Climax Action!

Anyways, I liked it. It was a pretty fun demo with great fast paced action. Not to mention, she's pretty hot for a video game character.

I'll just put it like this. I'll be getting this game long before I go after Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. It's release date falls on a great time as well. Because I don't really plan on getting a game in Jan. So I guess, now I just might.

hidden move: if hold the lockon button(r1) with the katana for a while bayonetta does something special, after the circle is complete press triangle for a devastating move.

Torture Attacks

Attack enemies to fill your Magic Gauge! If you take damage your Magic Gauge will decrease! Close in on enemies and finish them off with deadly Torture Attacks!

Tutorial

Punch: For a quick punch press Y.
Kick: For a powerful kick press B.
Combo: Combine Y and B to unleash countless combos!
Evade: Evade any situation by using the RT to dodge!
Witch Time: Dodge at the last possible instant to activate Witch Time! (Enemies will appear to move in slow-motion for a set period of time.)
Shoot: Shoot your way out of a combo by holding Y or B!
Bullet Climax: Rotate the LS and press Y or B to fire all around! (Step 1: Activate Bullet Climax! Step 2: Once activated, aim and fire at will!)

More Observations and Things (Some of this info has already been mentioned. I'm including it because the purpose of this post is to collate a bunch of good stuff for easy reference.)

- Tap a direction on the d-pad to see which items you have. Hold a direction to use the corresponding item. (I listed this in the controls section, but lots of people seem to miss this feature so I want to point it out here)

- On the mission complete screen, you may notice a missing medal. To find the hidden verse that awards it, return to the area where you start the city level after you've cleared the courtyard battle. A pack of enemies will spawn in the first room.

- One thing that's guaranteed to annoy me in a game is a laggy menu. Ninja Gaiden is a notable offender here. In contrast, Bayonetta's menus, much like its in-game controls, respond crisply to any input. Kamiya's games have all had great menus, and Bayonetta is no exception.

- All breakable objects and items respawn if you leave an area. This includes the treasure chest on the right side of the courtyard in the city. You can exploit this to collect extra halos and magic-restoring items.

- Magic-restoring items drop much more frequently when Bayonetta is damaged. I destroyed a group of pots with about 1/10 of a health bar and got 5 purple butterflies.

- Bayonetta can target multiple enemies with her guns during combo extensions (just hold an attack button mid-combo). This is ridiculously effective with the second weapon set when she's standing in the middle of an enemy group. Her shotguns will slaughter everything.

- Enemy-dropped weapons won't weaken if used on breakable objects. (Exceptions: the trumpet, the halberd's spinning pole move.)

- Enemy jump is in, and it works just like in Devil May Cry, except the timing is far easier. (For those who don't know how to perform it: while airborne and next to or above an enemy, press jump.)

Try jump canceling a stinger ((lock) >+Y). If you time the jump right, its momentum will carry Bayonetta upward as she attacks.

Maybe it's because some people actually did some research, read some previews, and looked at the staff's track-record to decide that this game met many of their interests as opposed to those "heavy weights".

I mean, don't get me wrong - God of War is a great franchise. I enjoyed both of the games thoroughly. However, there was absolutely zero charm or appeal to it at all for me. It's not Bayonetta herself that's intriguing (although she does help). It's the faster-paced combat mixed with the music and theme. I mean, sure - they could give Kratos fast-assed combos, crazy gun-wielding action, slow-mo, and jazzy soundtracks, but that wouldn't be God of War now, would it? I have no problem with what God of War is doing because it does it so well. God of War should stay as God of War. However, I see Bayonetta as a completely different game with many different features and elements which appeal to more of my interests than any God of War game would.

tl;dr: Both are different games. Bayonetta's not "in the presence of heavy weight style sharers such as GOW3, and Dante's Inferno" because it's somewhere else.

Whether you, or Scianx, wanna admit it, Bayonetta will undoubtedly be compared to GOW3 and Dante's Inferno. Not because I'm comparing them myself, but because they are alike, gameplay-wise that is. Maybe not pinpoint, just "alike." Therefore, my question is valid and acceptable. "Because it's different." C'mon, really?
