If the much discussed technical shortcomings of the port only warrant a docking of .5 from a site as harsh as Gamespot, then my position that these issues aside the core game is still solid and very enjoyable is true. Obviously if you own both systems, it's clear which version you should buy. But it's also clear that despite it's known and accepted issues, the PS3 version is a game fans of action titles who are exclusive to that system should absolutely pick up without hesitation. I'm just thrilled to see Bayonetta is such a success period. It's very gratifying to me as someone who has been looking forward to the game from day one. It's official - Sony did nothing.
I doubt both IGN and GameSpot would review the JPN import.

Hell, if I ever do get a 360, I'd buy another copy of the game just to show my support for the developers of the IP. It's just that good. I'll be picking up my copy of the PS3 version in the morning, and I'm excited.

Yes yes yes.
Buy the game if you've only got a PS3; buy the 360 version if you've got both systems.
Either way, you're playing a great game.
Well it's either that or no version. Sega may not have done a perfect job porting it, but the fact they ported it is the only reason we got to play it. If not for them I would have been forced to buy a 360, and all due respect to a great system, I'd rather be spending money on games for what I already have right now. Hell, I bought Orange Box for PS3 knowing it was the worst version, but I finally got to play HL2, not to mention the brilliance of Portal. It may not be the best way to play it, but even this "worst" version of HL2 managed to easily and quickly become my favorite FPS of all time. I think the fact that the core gameplay is so damned good that these issues only warranted a .5 reduction from the best versions score is a testament to just how bloody brilliant a game Bayonetta really is. This isn't a defeat, we knew these shortcoming where there already, this is a victory.Damn, i hate knowing that i have to buy the inferior version..........

As some of you may have already noticed, the review score for the PS3 version of Bayonetta has been changed to an 8.0. Apologies to everyone, but when I posted my reviews for this game I personally made an error and incorrectly posted the PS3 version with a score of 8.5, which was not intended. We have since corrected this and appended an editor's note that addresses this. Sorry guys!LarkAnderson
WHAT. Oh that's it I'm canceling my reserve. That is exactly .5 less great than an 8.5 great. Which is much less greatness. Fail Sega, major fail.
It was a joke folks :P
The PS3 gets a hugely inferior and buggy version in...2010?
2006 or even 2007 was understandable, but in 2010 it is pathetic

hahaha
I own a 360, and I'm still going with the PS3 version of Bayonetta based on controller preference alone. Unless the full game's performance is significantly worse then the demo, I won't have a problem at all... raven_squadI actually like the PS3 controller a lot more for the game as well, but in the review it's noted that the PS3 version has framerate problems. That alone is enough to convince me to get it on the other platform, even though I prefer the PS3 controller for the game

I thought the PS3 demo looked great the first time I played it but there was noticeably better framerates, better textures, and smoother, more fluid action on 360. I really wanted to get the game for Ps3 and was even willing to take the chance that Sony fixed it up, but after the score difference in the IGN review that pretty much sealed it for me that Sony didn't do anything to improve the game.
It's a game made by the same man who made the original DMC.thunderf00tYou see that's the thing, I didn't know that! Well I guess that answers my question. I unfortunately don't have the time to go through articles to find out nor the interest to keep track of it (I never keep track of most games actually. Anti-spoiler habit). And no I didn't ask for anything related to research, it's a question that could be answered simply by playing the game for 5 to 30 minutes. I thought the game's release was yesterday, goes to show how much I care about preview coverage. Thanks!
There seems to be mixed thoughts as to just how bad the PS3 version is. IGN gave the game almost a point and a half lower. Gamespot at first gave the game a .5 lower than a whole point lower. 1up gave the game an A- while the 360 version is just an A. We all know that the PS3 version is worse but just how bad is a whole other matter. I wasn't planning on buying the game anyway but the difference between versions does not seem to be night and day. According to the average critic score on the PS3 version is 8.9 and the average score on the the xbox is 9.1. Granted there are 16 reviews for the 360 and 10 reviews for the PS3. .2 would not make me buy the other version. I played both demos and honestly I didn't see that big a difference myself.
I am throwing out what has been said about the PS3 version but some might be overexaggerating a bit. It seems odd GS would change the score like that. Obviously at some point they didn't think the PS3 version was that bad and then all of the sudden they made a mistake.
I would say pick a version and forget about it. Each version has the same content, it's not like the 360 version has more weapons or area or something the PS3 version does not. Honestly the graphics are not bad but they neither version is a showcase for the system by any means. Either way I hope those that play the game enjoy it.

You're right. If I get it. I'll get the X360 version. An 8 is a good score. I'm so amazed that GS didn't give it a 7 or something based on its technical inferiority. I'm disappointed as heck in SONY for not stepping up like they said they would TheEldestGodSony never committed to such a thing. That claim came from a poorly sourced rumor.

Well, that makes me feel much better. I hate that everyone was expecting it for no good reason then. That sucks. I still love you, SONY.
By the way... NA version's got custom soundtracks.
Don't know about other regions, though, or even if region specifics matter when it comes to in-game music.
I won't be picking this up just yet. Even if it's still a great game, I can't in good conscience pay the same price for a really bad PS3 port. The framerate and loading times are what really ruin it for me.
why the hell these days developers love to making crappy version of games on ps 3..?? i mean we pay the game n i understand the early introduction might some prob like this..but now it's already 2010..are all developers hate sony tht much..???GarudoDo some research, bro. Platinum Games merely developed this game. They only had the resources to make the 360 version, but Sega decided to step in and say, "Hey, we'll port that PS3 version ourselves and then publish the game as a multiplatform title for you guys!" If you want to point fingers, then you should be pointing them at Sega, but since they were the ones who were gracious enough to even bother porting something which could very well have been a 360 exclusive, there isn't really anyone to blame at all. This is now a matter of "Be grateful for what you were given outside of initial expectations."

Doesn't really look that interesting, and the demo didn't do much for me. I actually got bored watching the review.
Hard to believe in this day and age there are still game developers / publishers who don't know how to program for the PS3. I guess the guys who got C's and D's in college have to work someplace though.
iunderstand that some of you are disappointed in the technical flaws of the ps3 version; however, an 8.0 is a bad score? you guys have been spoiled. i never got around to playing dmc4 so i think i'll buy it now and bayonetta when the price comes down a bit. i like my wallet to be healthy :)
Damn, i hate knowing that i have to buy the inferior version..........EPaulWhy even bother supporting this game with your money knowing that it is the inferior version with little effort put into this version?
