I don't really know a reason, I just liked it overall more, and loved the graphics and epic boss fights that tied in so well with the hack and slash gameplay.
i loved both but god of war 3 i have to go with, bayonetta wins in the humor and i love the battle system and the boss fights were epic but God of War has a better story and the boss fights are more epic. I would want another God of war before another bayonetta but love both series
Both games are very very good, and both game's do better things then the other.
Graphics - GoW3
Gameplay - Bayonetta

Better main character - Bayonetta

So its quite even imo, I liked that GoW took itself serious..But I loved that Bayonetta didn't and overall it was much more enjoyable because it was funny and chessy and this makes it alot more easier to replay.

Bayonetta must have a unbearable story to be inferior than God of War 3's story.
Bayoonetta hands down for me. Imo its what DMC4 should have been. The combat is excellent, easy to get into and hard to master. The stage design is great and it never feels like your doing anyone thing for two long. Excellent boss battles and excellent characters. Only downside to it for me is the story which was quite dispointing.
GOW easily has a much better story but i find the combat to be bland and boring.
Bayonetta. I never liked the button mashy, QTE heavy style of God of War and it's the exact same in GoW3. I think every aspect of Bayonetta is better than GoW3 except the graphics. The combat is 1000x more deep and fluid, the boss fights were insanely epic and the story turned out to be surprising fantastic though a bit convoluted but hey, I don't mind convoluted stories, I mean I love MGS. God of War 3 felt like GoW2 HD and the story just continued the events. Oh and the final boss fight of Bayonetta whips GoW3's final boss fight hard! In fact, Bayonetta's final boss fight whips a whole lot of games' final boss fights. I really like Bayonetta :) But that's just my opinion, when it comes to hack n' slash I always prefer a more over-the-top, ridiculous story than a serious one. I feel it suits the genre better.
Bayonetta is better. The controls are tight and the combat is infinitely more intense than GoW. Bayonetta is cheesy, but it doesn't take itself seriously, so its an enjoyable cheesiness as opposed to cringe worthy DMC/MGS cheesiness. I love GOW3, having beat it like four or five times, but Bayonetta is fresh and smooth, while GOW3 is stale.

Bayonetta must have a unbearable story to be inferior than God of War 3's story. hmm?? i wasn't saying that, i just enjoyed the mythological setting and background of God Of War "although it was inaccurate" it was pretty awesome, with bayonetta i could never grasp the world i was in, i was dejected and didn't feel for the settings and all that, it was basically i'm in this place fight enemies then proceed, never knowing how i got to this place or anything.

Don't get me wrong I liked Kratos, but he was a boring character compared to Bayonetta :D I only saw one side to Krato and that was RAGE!!11! which was done very well but I wish we could see an other side to him.
