Hello. I have a one tb ps4 slim. Starting to run out of space. I’d like to expand with an external hard drive. Gonna need at least 2 more tb, but also considering larger.

Questions:

Is the $90 2tb one branded specifically for use with ps4 any better than a third party one?

Is there a certain type or brand i should look for that will function better with the ps4s than others?

Any to avoid or features to look for?

Any info would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Would this be a good hard drive for a ps4?

External SSD, you will thank me later.

Or just buy a 2.5 one.

@Random_Matt: looks cool. Hadn’t heard of it. Kinda up there pricewise. Is the size the biggest advantage or is it faster as well?

SSD is miles faster.

Although someone else will have to chime in here, SSD over USB speeds is something i do not know.

Not worth it, especially for a PS4/PS4P, you wont see any advantages, USB 2 is just too slow.

There you go TC.

Oops typo, I meant to say USB 3, but still, its too slow for the capabilities of SSD.

Ah right lol. Yeah looking at comparison videos on Youtube, the difference between USB SSD and HDD are very small.

To TC, I would literally look at drives that have had the best reviews

@Chris_53: The differences are even smaller on consoles, the HDD I posted has lots of reviews, and its on special right now on Amazon.

The only cons are its big and requires external power.

Sdd is a lot of money. I could buy another ps4 with the money i’d have to spend on a high capacity ssd.

I appreciate the info, fellas.
