I agree about San Andreas. But Vice City was cool too. Both better than IV.

San Andreas FTW. Too bad they took out everything that made that game awesome and epic for IV. :(

anything after gta 2 is boring.

Yeah, Vice City is my favourite. In my Top 3 favourite games ever.

I think that San andreas because is the only GTA game which have countryside and i wish that the next GTA game wouldn't be GTA V but somethig new like san andreas. :D

The three main PS2 ones were the best.

My favorite is GTA3 though.

I'm in the minority that thinks IV is the best. I love that they made it closer to reality.

Hopefully R* goes back to the formula for the older GTA games with GTA V. Less realistic = more fun

Completely agree, it was a step in the wrong direction. I hope they go back and make something in vein of the earlier titles. Something that feels younger, funner, funnier and sillier.

I love GTA IV niko was the best protagonist by far and his story was so involving, although i accept some missions were extremely boring. thats what made it so special once you got to a mission like four leaf clover.

San Andreas without a shadow of a doubt, though I thought IV was great too and I don't think it deserves some of the critisism it gets

GTAIV easily. Everything before it was too unrealistic.

San Andreas it had a great island from the country side to the desert and it was fun to drive around it's the best in the GTA series. But as for best main character I'd say TommyVercetti from Vice City and Huang Lee from Chinatown Wars I thought Niko was the worst he wasn't interesting at all.

I think they should keep the realsim but add all the crazy fun things of the older games into it.

San Andreas. I don't know how many hours I wasted looking for that f****** Bigfoot. Never did catch him though. I'm hoping they have some "real" myths in GTA 5. That's half the fun of these games is the myths and easter eggs.

San andreas is the best for overall gameplay. It pushed the boundaries to the furthest and so was the best. But i prefered the atmosphere, characters, music, and story of vice city the most! GTA 4 was a big step back imo.

Yeah, I really, really, really hated the soundtrack for GTA IV. The talk radio stations were funny (though, you couldn't listen to them more than once or two before getting completely bored with them), but the music was pretty godawful. It's rather pathetic that I listened to the ambient/electronica stuff more than anything else (except when I turned the radio off altgoether) because I just couldn't stand the music choices they made. Hell, even the 'classic rock' station was pretty abysmal. I don't think there were more than a handful of songs I actually liked in the entire game.

I wish R* would spend some of their money on acquiring licensing on an almost Rock Band/Guitar Hero scale for GTA V, providing some genuinely worthwhile music to listen to. I'd like an 80's station, a true classic rock station, a pure Hard Rock/Heavy Metal station (none of that mash-up of thrash, punk and metal all mixed on the same station), and a classical music station. I'm fine with the rap/hip hop, because I know a lot of people enjoy that sort of music, and I think there ought to be a country music station too (even though I'd never listen to it). They really need to bring back some diversity.

I loved a lot of things about GTA IV, but for pure fun, I think you either have to go with Vice City or San Andreas. I really hope they find a way to combine the best of both worlds for GTA V.

It has to be GTA IV because its the first game with moral chocies and excellent DLC and also the first to give us a hero that doesnt become the new Godfather in the span of the game.
