I've heard that its a good idea to clean the outside of the PS3 with a micro-fiber cloth, but I also heard you can you turtle wax...the car stuff... to git rid of the scratches...seems feasible to me but its just what i heard. Now onto the inside. I've heard of using a low power vacume on vents and such, also the compressed air thing... but whats the most effective way that sony recommends. I know the fan test is a no-no though.

Vaccuum the vents, USB slots, memory card slots, and the slots in the back.

Do NOT rub chemicals on your PS3, as that can do something with static electricity and mess up your system.

I use an air compressor, but not right up to the vents. I like to keep a 5 inch gap between the System and air gun.

I wouldn't recommend using wax on the PS3, especially if it could get inside the case or in creases.

Just leave well enough alone. The more you mess with it the greater chance you have for something to go wrong. My friend has a PS2 since launch and except for turning it on and off thats all he's done to it and its is still working.

It keeps it shiny. It also repels rain and bird droppings.
