Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard's status for PS3.

It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we've been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we're positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we'll keep doing our best to return that.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Well this sucks. I really wish Bethesda was better at programming for the PS3...

PS3 owners should ask for their $60 back for Skyrim.

Why not do like all the other content they're selling? releasing them bugged and near unplayable? then of course release 20 patches to make it about right?

stupid way to alienate half of the hardcore gamers. Guess they can do without our money.

Maybe if you didn't try to port over a game made with the Xbox 360 developing kit to the Ps3, you wouldn't have this problem. Silly Bethesda. You don't show support to my console of choice, I won't show support to any game you publish on said console.

I'm sure we will get it just fine. There is no technical reason Dawnguad or any other DLC for not being on PS3.

This is more to do with corporate PR and internal deals with different company. It will come. Personally, I'm more angered at un-professionalism Bethesda has showed with Skyrim. I love the game but the earlier issue on PS3 were unacceptable, if they wish for me to spend 60$ on their product.

I know one thing for sure, I will be more cautious purchasing their games in future. There are many fantastic quality games to enjoy, I don't need Bethesda games, they do need my money however.

It's time to smarten up if you want to sell me your product.

Hopefully Sony is willing to do whatever it takes to help make this work. Sounds like the ball is in their court.

I'm a bit disappointed, but the DLC seemed overpriced anyway. I can still understand the frustration though, even if it some of it is bringing forth so many irrational comments. I'm not sure if I want to believe it's a hardware issue, or the PS3 not having enough RAM specifically. But really, asking for your money back is ridiculous. It's not like anyone has purchased this add-on on the PS3. And there's plenty to do in the core game, and if you've really done everything I'm sure you've gotten your money's worth. Protest Bethesda all you want, it's not really going to matter. While their **** at PS3 users is a bit infuriating, I for one enjoy the hell out of the Fallout games and Skyrim. I'd play them on PC if I had a powerful computer and an interest in gaming on one, but for now I can live with playing the games (minus the add-ons) on the PS3.

I want dawnguard but I also dont, I havent touched skyrim in 4months and while this add on would possibly rekindle my interest the exclusive deals with these add ons or whatever are just the worst business venture. It was just so much simplier when 1 console had a game and the other didnt, instead of a company making a game on disc for everyone then making a DLC for 1 system before the other, and leaving a bunch of customers just twisting in the wind. I love fallout and enjoyed skyrim but whoever makes the decisions at bethesdea(or any game company) in regards to these matters should be punched in the face. Making me wait dosent make me want it more it just makes me not want it at all.

This just proves that Bethesda don't really care about Skyrim PS3 players. first they release a game that doesn't work very well and now they make excuses about not bring Dawngaurd to PS3. If they had put equal effort into all the versions then this would have happened. Other developers can make multi platform games that work fine at release.

As long as millions of PS3 owners pay full price on release day for games they know will be faulty, Bethesda will never change their ways. They couldn't care less about a bunch of people complaining on the internet - they've already got your money. I waited until a few weeks ago and picked up a used copy of Skyrim. If more people did that, Bethesda would get their s*** together pretty quickly or they'd go bankrupt.

Bethesda must not be that high calibur of a developer anymore if it cannot get its games to run on PS3. This is not 2007 anymore. Almost every other developer can make games run on the system, so what is Bethesda's problem? Even Valve has managed to get its games running on the PS3. The developer even took advantage of keyboard and mouse support that the PS3 offers. It just goes to show who the talented developers are in the industry. Obviously Bethesda is not one of them. Why do developers even put their games out on platforms that they cannot handle?

Hold up there, now while it may sound like Bethedsa is making pathetic excuses, the thing you need to remember is that the PS3 and the 360 are two VERY different machines. Now I chose the PS3 over the 360 because of the exclusives (Gran Turismo 5 in particular), but I have more than once wondered if I should have gone with the 360. The reason being is that I have heard time and time again that the 360 is easier to develop for than the ps3. Hey, put those torches and pitchforks away, you know you have heard it too at some point. Consider this source, or the third post down, or what John Carmack from ID has to say, or even what Square Enix says about it. But hey, don't take my word for it, I have a lot of fellow gamer friends (ones in the real world by the way) who are able to afford both a 360 and a PS3. Guess what? All Bethesda games (Fallout 3, Oblivion, Skyrim, New Vegas, etc.) play better on their 360. Now you might say that is just an excuse but answer this: are you a PROGRAMMER? I'm talking if/then or for x= and all that stuff. Like this! I actually commend Bethedsa working to get it right, and I am glad they did not push out a buggy dawnguard. I still have my copy of Skyrim and even play it occasionally, but not lately. Dawnguard has done little to re-kindle my interest, even with the Vampire Lord (when there is a moral choice, I rarely go the evil route in any case. The new Hearthfire holds even less interest (I have a kid in real life, why on earth do I want a virtual kid in the fantasy world)? Tim Buckley puts it best. At any rate, since Dragon's Dogma came out, I have not touched Skyrim lately (I have had no problems playing Skyrim either). Granted $60 is no small amount (it's a day's pay for a lot of people), but the ones you should be angry at is SONY. The 360 doesn't have it's lead for no reason. As has been mentioned before, Sony needs to put out a platform that developers can easily develop for. After all, it's not the system with the better hardware, it's the software support that makes or breaks a system.

Problem with Bethesda is they seem to like making a game for a PC first and then x-box/PS3 next. Which always results is a game that demands more then the resources can handle. You would think they would just stop making games like that. But they don't seem to care.

I don't know why you guys continue to support these greedy losers like Bethesda etc. Support the devs who give us exclusive games..they atleast care about their customers. I don't know why some PS3 owners brag about exclusives when their game collection only has like 2 exclusives..

How many other developers have gotten the games right on PS3. Criterion is a huge advocate of the PS3 as well as Quantic Dream. Other developers have games that run fine on the system. Castlevania Lords of Shadow ran better than the 360 version. Devil May Cry 4 also had an edge over the other platform as well. Persona 4: Arena also runs more fluidly than on the other platform. Let us not forget that original Oblivion had better draw distance than its 360 counter part. It is rather stupid that Besthesda cannot get its games to run on the PS3. Granted Oblivion runs on a different engine than the other games, but nonethe less, if the company can make run game run properly, then surely it can do it again with other titles. The whole thing of 360 being easier to develop for is an archaic answer in 2012. It is funny that Julian Eggebrecht words hold true even though his game Lair did not run well at all. He said developers should build for PS3 first and then port to 360. Games like Orange Box and Bayonetta ran like crap because the developers just ported from 360 whereas Devil May Cry 4 and Burnout Paradise were both built for PS3 first.

It is Bethesda's fault pure and simple. If developers would build for PS3 first, then there would not be an issue. I am not saying that developers should make the PS3 version superior to the other. All I am asking for is equality. It has been proven that building for PS3 first results in both platforms running at the same level of quality.

Releasing a bad port on a system that can power a super computer is just a testament to their incompetence and lack of drive as developers. I actually made it a hobby to email incompetent developers and belittle them:D

I just know that Im going to be rather upset if we dont get the extra stuff that the other two platforms already have.

Im not going to rebuy a game just because my console of choice gets screwed over for the DLC. They either deliver, or they lose a customer for any of their future projects. Simple as that.

The truth is Bethesda dropped the ball with the release of Skyrim. The fact that MS essentially bribed them doesn't help their case, either. I, for one, will not be purchasing any future Bethesda games on Day One like I did with Skyrim. Ironically, Skyrim was my first Elder Scrolls game I decided to buy because of all the good things my friends had told me about Oblivion (which I missed out on and never bothered getting). So I took the plunge with Skyrim and got a buggy, glitchy version, and now I learn that "Ooops! The DLC we planned may not release as we intended because we can't figure out the architecture of a console that has been available for over six years."

I'm sorry, that is not an excuse anymore especially when other developers are able to release games that work just fine on PS3. There is no excuse Bethesda can muster that will convince me that they are not to blame.

i hope they get it worked out. But they dont have the best rep as far as working on the ps3 lol and there "bribe" from M$ i think was dirty and a real slap in the face to there fans on the ps3 wich was compounded by how extra craptastic skyrim ran on the ps3, as a ps3 gamer i really feel like they treat us as second class citizens.i mean as fans we pay just as much as the 360 guys for there games and suport them just as much but were forced to wait for DLC do to there greed and put up with so many issues. I have a love hate relationship with that dev. I LOVE ther games how ever i HATE how they run on the ps3 and in fact how buggy they are in gen on all the platforms. i had oblivion on a gameing PC back in the day and it had a large amount of bugs, same with FO3 and even worse skyrim on the ps3. As long as the play right there games are IMHO the best this gen but they dont always play right, i can def say there games are by far the buggest games iv personaly have ever played lol.

It's Bethesda's loss really. If they don't want do what it takes to get the DLC on PS3, that's just 20 dollars that I will give to their competitors. There are so many games coming out this Fall/Winter that can have my money instead.

Bethesda can keep Rymjob and all their other trash.

Have never played a Bethesda game and never will unless I decide to torrent Skyrim for my PC just to see how overrated it is. They will never get my money.

PS3 is for exclusives. I buy multiplats on my PC, so this doesn't effect me one bit.

Seems I will have to continue to buy the their games used, then.

It's what I do. I wait 6-12 months then buy their games on e-bay.

I enjoy some of the games by Bethesda, but that press release shows they've got some real doofusses (doofi?) in charge.

"We don't want to do PS3 ports so we'll announce that it's like, really hard and stuff, so we're gonna go for the quick money grab that requires less work. We aren't worried AT ALL that this move really makes us look like we've got a first c|ass doofus in charge here." -- direct quote from Bethesda a.k.a. doofus-central

That's a flat out lie. Some, yes. A lot, no.

Maybe they'll release a game of the year with all the downloadable contents.

Skyrim does not deserve any GOTY its the worst of the TES series its probobly more broken the DggerFall. Ill stick with playing oblivion. Skyrim is a wattered down peice of crap compared.

My co-worker is going to go on a rampage when I tell him this...maybe I shouldn't. lol Bethesda CAN'T not put it out. A game this big? This will put a damper on their future sales. (Maybe?)
