I have an original PSP Phat, and want to upgrade for Peace Walker. Gamestop is having a nice Peace Walker bundle for the PSP 3000 called the "Big Boss Bundle" which comes with Peace Walker DLC, a custom paint job, a case, and 4GB of memory, and I'm torn between getting that bundle or the PSP Go and a regular copy of Peace Walker. The 3000 will be cheaper, but I am still on the fence since the bluetooth feature and 16GB of memory are appealing to me since I would like to put music on the PSP and hook it up to my TV with AV cables.

Your thoughts? I'd sure appreciate someone who has experienced the 3000 and the Go to chime in with some sage like wisdom.

PSP Go couldn't play with any UMD. If you want to play only downloaded game, then you should get PSP Go. If you want to play other Metal Gear Solid UMD game, then you should get PSP 3000. I like my PSP 3000. I do not have PSP Go yet.

I just bought the psp go yesterday and I must say its one of the most sexiest piece of hardware in existence. really small, its about the size of my palm. When the screen is down of course. The picture is GREAT! no ghosting what so ever. The buttons are solid, they dont feel cheap like on the psp 1000, 2000, 3000 series. Analog stick is perfected. I have a tons of games and demos on it already. it has a built in 16 gb memory. If psp games are like 200 to 700 MBs....You are talking about a lot of games on the go. And it doesnt have UMDs!! which is wonderful I couldnt imagine carrying like 10 games with me to work LOL

oh and i get about 5 hours of battery life, with the brightest screen possible and medium volume with headphones. You can adjust the brightness of your screen.

You can also hook up the psp 3000 on tv and play games and watch movies. If you don't want to use a umd, you can always save the games on your memory stick when you buy them on the psn store. I say get the Big Boss Bundle, since there are some games that's not available on the PSN store yet. And some umd based games are pretty cheap. But if you like portability, then get a go since it's really small. But some psp games on the ps store are pricey. Some. So you are stuck with the psn store for your games.

I too own a PSP Go and simply love it.

It is small enough to actually fit in your pocket. I find the controls to be MUCH better than the old PSP (slim included). The volume gets much louder. PLUS...I don't have to drag a bunch of UMD's around all over the place.

The PSP looked dead, but the combination of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, ModNation Racers, and God of War: Ghost of Sparta is simply too much to pass up. Those are 3 rock solid AAA titles right there.

On a side note, I have found that most PSP Go owners actually love the hardware. Most of the haters don't even own one.

The games are more expensive. I will concede that point. Sony needs to shape up their upkeep on the PS Store for the PSP.

The pause feature is absolutely brilliant on this model.

Also if you choose the psp go, you'll be missing out on some umd pre-oder bonus or special edition. Like say Persona 3 portable for example. The package comes with a junpei cap. or those games with soundtrack included.

Thanks for your advice, everyone. I'm glad I still have some time to think about it... it's really a tough decision to make. I like the idea of download only... but I am pissed off that Sony didn't improve the wifi. My current PSP has really slow wifi speeds, which blows. I hear all the new PSPs have the same problem. I just don't understand why they wouldn't upgrade it. I know you can transfer from your PC, which can download quickly, but I like the idea of having one device that can download all it's own content.

On a side note, the PSP Go looks like a sophisticated piece of modern hardware.

The older PSP just looks like a goofy toy jutting out of your pocket. You're not going to see any self respecting adult playing the MGS PSP on the train on the work to Wall Street.

No but you will see MGS fanboys with it.... I think people like me who love MGS will see it as a collectors item rather than judge it based on looks....

I reserved the BBB the day after it was announced. The System, Peace Walker, 4 gig mem stick, AND a case? If I were you I'd do the same. It's not like I don't see some of the benefits of the Go--the smaller form factor and supposedly the screen, while a tad smaller, is a just a tad higher quality. My main reason for not liking the go come down to a few things:

-I have problems with "flip" type devices. Every cell phone I've ever had that had to flip or slide open in some fancy way has not lasted long. I'm not saying the Go isn't constructed in a quality manner, its just that its made of plastic and metal and there is bound to be wear and tear--thats only normal.

-While its smaller, it still just a tad to big(and expensive) for me to just toss it in a pocket and forget about it. So, I'd still end up getting a case for it. If not for that reason, I'd get one to protect the screen, which would in part make it too big to put in a pocket--making a bag necessary, just like the 3000 model.

-I don't trust DD. If i'm spending 20-40 on a game, I need more proof of purchase. I understand that there is some level of PoP, but in buying a portable, its something I will use YEARS from purchase. I still use a Game Boy Color from time to time. Who is to say that at some point the whole PSN is abandoned? It might seem unlikely, but its certainly possible. What if I have 12 games on my Go, and five years later the drive dies? How do I fix that? What if sony stops supplying repairs for the unit at some point.

i personally think that the PSP go sucks.(no offence to owners out there) i prefer the 3000 GT pack as the pick of the lot because you get a free case, car and game for half price(even though its pretty average game) but i had to buy the free car because the code wasn't in the box. (imagine picture of my head with steam coming out of it)

If I were you i'd get the PSP 3000. As others have said the Go is downloaded games ONLY. The 3000 can play any PSP game and you can download games and put them on a memory stick. The fact that you already have a PSP (and I would assume UMD games) this is definitely the one I would recommend. Yes you can buy a 16Gb stick for the 3000 but they're not cheap. Besides the Big Boss PSP looks sweet.

I'm thinking of getting the Go, I have a PSP 2000 already but I never take it anywhere cause its too big. I also noticed some games were actually cheaper to download. And having games saved onto the hardrive is a lot more convient. As of now I only have a 1GB memory card. Anything else Go owners have to say about the system?

I never owned a PSP before the Go, so I didn't have the "instantly useless collection of UMDs problem." I'm not too sure about the advantages over previous models, but playing around with my bro's 3000 has given me some insight. The size of the Go is a huge improvement; I slapped a screen protector on there and just throw it in my front pocket comfortably with my keys or phone. I also really like the pause feature. If you get to a frustrating point and aren't near any save points, pause it right there. You can then proceed to play another game, watch a movie, download stuff, etc. 16 gigs is also a lot more space then I thought. I have about 6 gigs free and have 10 PSP games, 3 PS1 classics, and a Mini on there. I don't know if its important to you, but it looks damn cool and the sliding mechanism feels awesome.

I own both. The psp go and 3000. The psp go is cool looking and a little more portable, BUT, with the price of the games and the time it takes to download them, you are better off getting the psp 3000. You don't have to wait forever for the games to download and the older games are cheaper on umd than the downloaded version.

Actually, MNR is a low-A title, and there's no guarantee that Peace Walker and Ghost of Sparta will get an AAA (they might on GameSpot, but not on Metacritic).

And I don't think the "no need to carry UMD" is a valid reason. Every PSP could do that. But with the 1/2/3000, you can choose between physical or digital copies. Physical copies are usually cheaper, and digital copies are convenient. Go could only use digital copies. Talk about expensive games.

And, as a previous user has posted, digital purchases aren't safe. Sony might stop providing services for the PSP in the coming decades. And all of your PSP games COULD NOT BE RE-DOWNLOADED. If your Go breaks, it's the end.

Big Boss, all the way. Im a sucker for Metal Gear....that and the PSP go is just not as multifaceted as the 3000, the legal for downloadable games is crazy, and without the use of UMDs there just isn't enough available. Its a good idea, but the GO was just not executed the right way, I think its a little ahead of its time... Epic FAIL. Long Live the slim.

Thanks, I did wind up getting the go and the size is a big improvement, its perfect for taking it on the road. I haven't even used my 2000 since I got it. Resume feature rocks. Why doesn't everything have this feature!?
