Which games did you get hyped up for this year that turned out to be a big dissapointment?

Prototype.... poor, poor Prototype.

Poor Prototype indeed. Did stand a chance against inFamous.
By the sound of this thread Prototype is garbage. lol
I was going to recommend Rogue Warrior or Tony Hawk's Ride.
lol, Killzone 2.
I had a far less enjoyable experience with Prototype, but then again I wasn't expecting much out of the game in the first place and I was borrowing it from someone else.
For my low expectations to sink even lower... that's pretty bad. Protoype was a horrible game, but Killzone 2 was just more of a disappointment than a bad game.

I'll have to say Prototype too. I paid it full price and was totally disappointed.
Im with these guys. Prototoype I'm in with this guy who is in with those guys.Is Prototype really that bad? I have it but still haven't played it

If you sprinkle salt in your eyes, you might be able to enjoy it more.

lol yeah im so glad on getting infamous.
I didn't think it was as bad as they make out but in comparison to InFamous it just didn't hold up, bland visuals, an uninteresting main character and a poor story. There was some fun to be had but there were way too many moves, of which you only really needed 1. Outside PS3 Scribblenauts was a huge dissapointmentIs Prototype really that bad? I have it but still haven't played it

Here's how prototype worked. I preordered it, got my little Alex Mercer figurine, started playing, LOVED IT. The concept is great. An hour (or less) later you realize how bad the mechanics are, how contrived and boring the story is, how dated the graphics are, and how fricken repetitive the missions are.
I had so much hope for it. so sad :(
I have not played that many flops....
But by the look of it:
Tekken 6, Prototype, The King of Fighters XII, Resident Evil 5, Brutal Legend, Wolfenstein, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, The Saboteur, Bionic Commando, Guitar Hero: Van Halen, Fuel, Afrika, Major League Baseball 2k9, Tony Hawk Ride, and Rogue Warrior.

Well, it was a good game from what I heard but I think people were expecting more out of it...
Edit-8.5 is a great score. It was just lost in a sea of great games. Uncharted 2 coming out the same day did not help that much either.
The problem with brutal legend was that no one really knew what it was. People weren't aware of the fact that most of the gameplay is strategy based. it's a fun game, people just didn't know what it was before they bought it. It didn't help that the demo showed basically none of the game :/
How can Guitar Hero Van Halen be a flop when it isn't even out yet?I have not played that many flops....

Those of use that bought GH5 early got Van Halen 2 months ago and I assure your friend, it is a flop
I never even heard of Stormrise haha. But yeah Damnation sucked. The GameCrazy in Lockport had more copies traded in than copies that were bought from the store haha.Probably Stormrise. Or Damnation. I haven't played either, but I remember there being hype for Stormrise especially. Youch.

Yikes, Well to be honest, I bought GH5 early too and have had GH:VH sitting untouched in its stupid little sealed cardboard package since it arrived in the mail. I was thinking "flop" more in terms of sales than I was disappointing gameplay. Still, it's disappointing to hear it sucks. Is it just a bad track list?[QUOTE="hxczuner"][QUOTE="sportwarrior"] How can Guitar Hero Van Halen be a flop when it isn't even out yet?sportwarrior

Hopefully i get my X360 back next week so I can rent it. The only song I can recall is that Blink 182 song. I think it's first date.Ghostbusters.
In all the years I've been gaming, I've never sought a refund for any game that wasn't physically damaged....until this crappy port.

Brutal legend, never mind that...Resident evil 5?! Are you serious? I loved that game. Sure its different then Resident evil 4. But 5 is just so.... so awesome-sauce!
Tekken 6 didn't turn out as well as it should have.The_Pig_HostageYeah in comparison to Tekken 5 and Tekken 4 it was crap. ESPECIALLY THE LOAD TIMES!! I mean first you wait for the characters to be chosen and then you wait for the match to load wtf is that.

Once you install it, it's not so bad.
Borderlands PC for me. Not only is there that texture glitch with buildings (that I get) I was expecting an awesome multiplayer online experience but I cant even get into a game because of how buggy it is. I even tried game ranger to try to get some experience but even that doesnt work! It would be better on 360 I assume, so I may sell it and get it on 360. However playing by myself its an alright game, but I bought it for multiplayer.
I thought Killzone was a pretty good game, just way too hyped.
I have Prototype on Layby with GTA 4 Stories and Call of Jaurez 2.... should I take it out of the layby? It looked pretty good to me. By the way I already have Infamous. Its okay but its a little boring... just scaling buildings to smashing tar people lol.
im gonna get hung drawn&qurtered for saying this. mw2 was the biggest flop for me i use 2 luvloved the cod series. the story was good but 2 short multiplayer was the worst of all cod. i enjoyed killzone2 and cod classic 100x more ill probably never buy another cod game again. i know this game didnt flop sales wise but i was so let down that the series has been crippled in my eyes.
As someone who's not influenced by hype, rather my own personal interest and expectations, none of the games that I bought this year let me down. All of the games I picked up met or exceeded my expectations.
2009 was an exceptional gaming year for me. One of the best I can remember.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena was a flop (sales wise) it includes 2 awesome games that deserved more attention.cooldust
Agreed, they didnt sell well but i found the games pretty fun. Everyone thought they would be poopie, cause its a movie to game lisence.
Also, your sig, I love The Darkness video game.
[QUOTE="im_mr_brown"]
Personally, IMHO Infamous. I didn't like that game at all. *flameshield*

I got your back
The game wasnt bad but it wasnt great either, I finished it but had to force myself

At First, I was respectful of your decision about the story and the changed multiplayer, but to say Call of Duty: Classic was better.. well thats not right.
lol, Killzone 2.
