I need to download the demo. I've been wanting to try the game for some time.

i have bioshock for the pc downloaded ps3 demo i must agree it looks exactly same on ps3 i have 8800gt.sm0ke311
Yeah perhaps at 1280x1024 on medium settings. I've played the PC version of BioShock on my 1080p TV, at 1080p and it looks a lot better than the 360/PS3 version.

I have the PC version, the 360 version and the demo. the PS3 version is on par with the PC version and far less buggy than the 360 version. The detail surpasses that of the 360 and it has extra features which is why I'm getting it for the PS3. If it looked worse there is no way I would get it.
I like the story.... the controls where ok... the graphics were 2 360 for me could be better....I would not buy it to many other games coming out this year.
warbmxjohn...when you described your intriguing views on your experience with the demo of the multi-platform best seller, Bioshock, I could have sworn I heard Mozart playing his symphony 40 in G minor coming out of your butthole. Although I do appreciate your contextual outlook on such a well-renowned first person shooter, i would have to ask you kindly to please eat my ass with tea and crumpets. Thank you for your time.Omega3FattyAcidPresent it, and I shall feast:lol:
[QUOTE="warbmxjohn"][QUOTE="Omega3FattyAcid"]cracka, please. Let me tell you guys how it really is:
I just finished the demo...more like I played for about 10 mins then shut it off. People hyped this game WAYYYYY too much. Just my opinion, but it is so stupid. The controls are slow, melee combat sucks, when I shoot a guy its just like BLOODSPLATTER! And his body dosn't even react. not even a flinch. plasmids are stupid as hell. Shock a guy with magic, then hit him with a wrench. The only good thing was the story/idea of it all. I have had poops that were more fun than this game. god...why so much hype for this...it might have been ok if everyone didn't say it was AMAZING. but I guess I was expecting too much. Plus the graphics were not that good...kind of shiny though.
bottom line: don't buy into the hype. It might be mediocre at best. I am all about resistance 2 and far cry 2 now! **** you, bioshock

i forbid itOmega3FattyAcidYou've made your point, or at least tried to form a valid point. So move along now. Kthxbye.
I thoroughly enjoyed the demo, I was definitely interested in playing this game before the demo and after the demo I am way more intrigued. The story is what has me wanting more, but the graphics are really immersive with the very artistic atmosphere, and the gameplay is quite solid and looks like it will be a lot of fun. But Im not sure of what replay value it contains. Which is why Im not sure if this game validates a purchase for me with all the other amazing games coming out, but I feel like I have to play this game through so Im gonna rent it without a doubt. Especially considering the end where you go into Andrew Ryans office is considered one of gamings best moments, I feel I must experience this.
Yes, you definitely need to experience that, I hope you dont know what happens though.
Nope I dont know what happens, thats why Im hyped to experience it. :)[QUOTE="enygma500"]demo was meh. i hate using the r2/l2 buttons as firing buttons. id prefere they be mapped to the r1/l1. x feels like it should be jump for some reason. all in all if i could remap the control to suit me better i would have liked it better. but i deffinatly dont see what the lemming were all bragging about. This is an extremely shallow opinion. Just goes to show what some peoples opinions are worth if they can make a blanket statement like this without even playing more than 5% of the entire game.
You know it's 30 hours right? And you haven't even begun the story. Bioshock is the best game I've played this generation, period.
sooooooo what your saying is, i would have to deal with crappy controls for 30 hours???just like jaxx, i found myself switching weapon when i meant to kill someone. the graphics were not that great(especially considering lemming were touting this graphics king). from what i played the game was nothing spectacular, ill buy it but only to play in between the games that are actually looking really great(LBP and resistance). i guess the biggest problem is lemming are always on about how great this game is, and it should be GOTY, and this and that. there was never anything bad. they hyped it up sooooo much that its just 1 giant dissapointment.
also that wasn't a shallow opinion. for some people, like me, poor controls can ruin a game. sure ill get used to it after an hour or so but why try to change something thats already worked great in other games. r1 as shoot. using a pressure sensitive trigger like r2 does not feel right in the slightest. and if i beat that demo in 10-20 minutes(5% of the game) then how is the game 30 hours??
[QUOTE="rogerjak"]I liked the demo. Especially the story.MERC_RECONN
I played it on the 360...I liked it but I must warn you, the deeper you get into this game it gets really starts to get twisted...and I do mean twisted. lol
I WANT TO TAKE THE EARS OFF, BUT I CAN'T. IT'S MY CURSE. IT'S MY F-ING CURSE! I WANT TO TAKE THE EARS OFF!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Best line in the game.

Bioshock the graphics king? No clue what you're talking about. Never heard that one.
I'll be honest with you about the controls. R2 is Right Trigger on 360 which is always shoot, so maybe it being a port is part of the problem. I have yet to play the demo on PS3 (didn't plan to, was just going to buy the game)
Don't take offense...I said shallow opinion simply because of this "but i deffinatly dont see what the lemming were all bragging about. " You have played maybe 4-5% of the game at most...you have no clue about the Story/weapons/plasmids, or anything really. If you had just said you can't stand the controls and you don't want to play it that's fine. But don't discredit the entire game.
Can you say a movie is a letdown in the first 5 minutes, before you've even given it a chance to see it all the way through? I wouldn't value your opinion as a reviewer that's for sure. Again no offense meant.

Well it seems the gaming press thought it deserved GOTY as evident in several publications and a nod in graphics, both tech and art direction. But that was over a year ago and we are now being treated to better looking games.
It's an atmospheric game that doesn't really look like anything else on the market and that is refreshing.
As for the control, I agree that the PS3 layout is terrible, but I blame both the developers and the actual controller for this one. I personally think the 360 controller trumps the DualShock 3 in FPS' and racing games.
But whatever, it just seems like someone has a hate on for something that started on the 360 and made it's way to the PS3. With a term like "lemmings" being used I can tell BioShock never stood a chance with this character. I bet you the same thing would happen if Metal Gear ever made it's way to the 360, there would be a colossal amount of people bashing it "just because".

I totally agree with this statement... I didn't have half the issues with the Orange Box port that other PS3 owners had, but I really wasn't nuts about the Sixaxis for it. And GT5P didn't control nearly as well as Forza 2... I don't like the triggers on the Sixaxis (or DS3).
As for Bioshock, I hate to say it but this is a bad port, assuming this is a final build. The lighting on 360 was far better and the textures are really ugly on the PS3 version in some spots. The frame rate is amazing on the PS3 version, though.
i had it for 360 and i think the graphics and controlls are better on the 360Diego_921
Theres alot more content on the PS3 version and the graphics are only slightly better on the 360 and its basically almost unnoticable.

IMHO the demo completely sucked ass. 2K is doing an absolutely terrible job of rereleasing one of the better games released for next gen platforms. The graphics sucked, melee sucked, shooting sucked, and the game didn't feel motivated. I just plodded along through the demo without really knowing why I was moving forward.
Bioshock for PS3 is gonna fail hard, worse than Haze and Lair combined.
It looked a lot like the 360 version, colors and lighting a bit off. Frame rate better...
I expected MUCH better.
btw : the controller isn't bad for fps, honestly I feel better playing COD4 on ps3 and I have both systems. 360 is too clunky.
i hate threads like this, can somebody who has played both well or has them at hand, tell me truthfully how it compares. i thought the demo was brilliant, The only graphic flaw was the big daddys head, and that seems to stick out like a sour thumb. If i had to nit pick id say the framrate FELT iffy.
I dont like to feed company's for bad software, i dont want to buy bioshock if its a lazy port. BUT i loved the demo  i think i will wait and see how the review goes, they put the orange box down and i never had the problems they had, just slow loading

i dont care where the game came from....a couple of my favorite games this gen are multiplats. the only reason the lemming came up is because next to gears, the only game they mentioned for like 6 months was bioshock. and yes they did say graphics king. but even for its time those graphics sucked. i also said i was incredibly stoked for this game until the demo. but even then im probably still going to buy it. its not like it was horrible, i was just hoping for more. basically im not saying that bioshock sucks, im saying that the lemmings held it soooooo high that actually playing it was a huge let down. everyone on this board has to admit that for months after the release of the game on the 360. lemmings talkesd about nothing but the greatness that is bioshock.
also i should havwe added before there was a great atmosphere in the demo and it seemed to be setting up for a wild story. which is why ill play it. but its deffinatly not going to be one of my favorites this gen from my little experience with it.
I was gonna wait to finish Bioshock on PS3 but I upgraded my PC before it got released so did it on there instead. It was the game I had in my 360 the last time it died so it's been a wait whichever way I look at it for me finishing the game.
I played the demo as people seemed to be split over it and , to me, it's one of the best games of the past few years(regardless of platform). I found, if anything , the PS demo was just a bit darker than the 360 or PC(and on the best settings) graphics wise and I noticed no framerate issues or bad textures. If there's a difference I really didn't spot it standing out any. My mates was a different story though and he got white lines during cutscenes and stuff so IDK if it's individual consoles from different ages/HDD sizes/batches not upscaling or finding the best res but if I'd only played at my house I really don't think I'd have known why there was any fuss.
I'll still be buying it , however, as for me the 360 controller is terrible(this isn't fanboyism at all, I honestly think it depends on hand size/shape, whether you're lefty/righty and purely stuff like that over which you prefer) to use and think that it was never gonna be better on PS3 as 2K always said how respectful they were of the original experience so have tried to just make it as close to the same as they can. And if they weren't trying to make it "better" it can't be, can it? Just be happy that a really different and thought provoking game is coming to PS3. I haven't checked but won't there be an option for changing the controls around if you like to use R1 for firing?
