When I first got my PS3, I managed to connect to my network and download the firmware without any problems.. However, since then I get disconnected roughly every 15 seconds when the connection is inactive. I've managed to download all the demo's and trailers on the PSN without getting disconnected. It seems it only cuts me off when the connection isn't in use. I've yet to try to play a game online, but I hope that it works. Do you guys have any idea what could be causing this? My laptop, PSP and Wii have absolutely no problems connecting to my network. If it helps, my router is a D-link 524. Thanks :)
I have the same problem. I have a Netgear 624 MIMO wifi router, and I get signed out in pretty much the same timeframe you do. I had a feeling that with all the electronics I have in my room (indoor antenna for my HDTV, Wii, 360, PS3, PC laptop) that might have caused it, but my PC and Wii stay connected just fine. I think it might be a driver problem, and an updated driver or firmware is needed to fix this. Just my two cents -- I'm just as anxious to find a solution to this as you are.
Which encryption do you use? None, WEP, or WPA? With my PS3, I have a hard time connecting (read: unable to connect at all) using WPA. I finally settled on WEP. I still get disconnected from time to time, but it's to the tune of once every 2 hours.
i did not solve it. sorry. iwas downloading sumthing thats why i didnt get disconnected. but when done it keeps disconnecting then signs in again. i just use lan now.
