Black Monday-Support Jeff!

Please do not go on GameSpot, GameFAQs, CNET, Download.com, TV.com, et cetera... do not go on ANY CNET site. Logout and DO NOT GO ON AT ALL from 12am EST on Monday (that's midnight tonight) until 12am EST on Tuesday. Don't come on the site, don't Google the site, don't click on a link to the site - don't do ANYTHING that generates a page view, search engine hit, or *anything*

A lot of Gamespotter's more prominant posters will be taking this action to show solidarity with the staff (and Jeff) who have to fear their jobs being lost if they speak their mind. So for their inability to speak on this issue *we'll show CNET our silence*.

This issue is bigger than you, it's bigger than me - it's bigger than GameSpot. This is about big business being able to use *buy* public opinion. Rather than live in a world where the media is controlled entirely by those with the most money, I want to live in a world where gamers who are living for their hobby (these guys truly work because of their passion for gaming, not the paycheck) can say what they truly feel about a game.

So let's do the right thing and show solidarity with Jeff Gerstmann - if he can't go to work on Monday at GameSpot then neither will we.

I think it's funny that you gave the world a little over an hour to read this is time to not visit the site on Monday, seeing as how I didn't see your post until Monday (EDIT: In my time zone at least).

Also, growing up and ridding yourself of the whole "the man is out to get you" mindset will make your life a lot less dramatic. I don't know much about this situation, but from what I've heard from the screaming GS users, generally this Jeff guy just wasn't intelligent enough to place himself in the right business in the first place. In large, when what you're doing is contrary to the prosperity of whomever you're doing it for, they're not going to want you to do it anymore. Sounds like Jeff got fired because he wasn't quick enough to realize that. Lets hope a blog can make him the same kind of cash if he's really that concerned about truth and/or his opinions, otherwise he can get a regular job like everyone else in the world.

Sorry, every review is based on person prefences and their opinion. Notice how people don't all like sport games, rpgs, fps's?

I don't always agree with Jeff, which is why it is fun to visit other sites to get information. However, I have nothing against the guy, he's probably a nice guy.

But, and this is a huge 'but', He is has been riding the slippy slope of unprofessionalism for quite awhile. I do not believe that he got fired cause he gve kane and lynch a 6. Look at IGN they are sponsoring the 'find the hot girl for kane and lynch contest' and guess what, they gave it a pretty low score too.

I believe that Jef got fired, because he is a pretty high level editor, yet he reviews games like a 14 yr old would. I saw the Kane and Lynch video review and I was completely dismayed that a 'professional' could not just, review the game like a professional journalist. Sure the game is bad Jeff, but there are probably a lot worst games that have to be reviewed by other people and yet they find a way to make their opinions sound professional and just. Your opinions just sounded like whiny 14 yr old youtube video........

Keyword here, ladies and gentlemen, is professional. I am glad that Jeff got fired. After that video review I was disgusted at the fact that this man was a high-level editor. I have read many of the reviews that people here post, and many of them were much better than Jeff's.

So goodbye Jeff. Maybe during this time of unemployment you will remember that game reviews, no matter how 'hip' you think you are, are a form of professional journalism. You went to school to learn to write professionally. You know what is unprofessional and what is professional....

You have better things to do with your time, seriously.
