My motorstorm game is a victim of the rot and i can't play the game anymore. just a blank screen. the disc itself has these spots which are spreading around the disc, stopping the blue laser from reading the disc.

what should i do with the disc throw it away and forget aboutthe idea that i spent £39.99 or should i complain to my retailer 'virgin' about this?

PSN ID: rogue2k7 or Alcopone83

Indeed, what he said. So far I've only heard reports of issues with the Prestige and only for some.

I think you're BSing because I left my MotorStorm disc inside my PS3 for a week while it was on and I left Resistance out of its case and forgot about it for like a month.

It's hard to believe because I have accidently left my NBA 2kin a spot where the sun shines all the time and my disk still looks great and plays good, I have also left it next to the right side of the ps3 where all the heat is generated and still my disk are mint, so honestly I find it hard to believe.

Right, and I have never heard or know anyone with this problem. If anything, it makes me want to take care of my games even more than I already do.

C'mon people, read!He found the problem. It was the European Motorstorm update and the way he installed it--Not the disc!

To the OP, I suggest you submit some sort of retraction to put some of the more dyslexic readers' minds at ease.

So why is it that only when the article came out that people started to notice this "rot". Also the reason it does happen is cause people change the enviroment from really cold to really hot or vice versa and this causes percipitation which then causes rot.

People obviously don't know how to take care of their discs. It stated almost everywhere to not leave your discs in really cold or hot places, or in direct sunlight.

I think it freezes couple of time throughout the movie for 5-6 seconds. I believe it happened to me two times when I was watching Prestige. Maybe you gotta newer copy of Bluray... I got mine when it was first released on Bluray. Also updates help solve the problems... i think.

the problem is moisture on the disk for a period of time that eventually causes the rot, it happens to all disks, cd, dvd, blu rays, and omg hd dvd's too. if your not taking care of your disks and happen to spill some water on it and leave it for a week expect it to rot sooner or later. you have never had an old disk rot, i have it happen when i left my sunroof open and it rained on my cd case and i didnt dry the disks.

Just keep your discs dry and in their case(leaving them in your PS3 shouldn't matter, if you have your PS3 in a well ventilated area), then the spots shouldn't happen.
