I was wondering if I buy movies for Blue Ray will I see a difference on my tv, which is SD with component input for my ps3. I'm not getting HD for a long long while, I was wondering if Blue Ray is worth the investment.

I'm in the same boat as silversurfergold but i was under the impression that resolution wasn't the only upgrade

and thing advertising hd keep on about colour and the fact comparison shots show every thing in focus

wouldnt these benefits show even on a sd tv

plus other boards on about this say that it is an improvement over dvd just not a very big 1

mind you they are very expensive so unless you see a good deal then youre prob better of with the dvd

unless you wanna stock up for you getting that shinny new tv

edit

if you really wanna know wait a few days as im getting my ps3 ether tomorrow or monday

it will come with xmen3 the last stand

which is on sky premier in sd ill sky plus that and compaire the 2 then get back to you

If you have a PS3, you might as well rent blu-ray, but don't buy any. Unless you want a movie really bad and plan to get an HDTV in the future so you don't have to rebuy it.

It is possible for it to look better in the way that blu-ray has better encoding, so no visible compression, better detail in dark areas, and possibly better quality dolby digital sound. Though, the nature of SD tvs might already hide any compression flaws in DVD so who know, it might all be a wash. So if there is a difference, it might be like a 5% type of thing.
