its not so much the drive is corrupted its that the drive is blank. the ps3 will read the drive and look for the file system and it will then load it up and you will be in the xmb but when you put in a brand new drive it tried to read the drive and it couldnt find so it said it was a corrupted. corrupted is only a data problem it doesnt mean your hard drive is broken or faulty. my guess is the ps3 has the 1 throwback for this. either the system loads fine or it doesnt and it hits you with the corrupted. it would seem like an awful wate of time to program in all this error coding for the hard drive.
im not sure how the ps3 deals with the hard drive and how the os works but im guessing the system stores the info about the hard drive and how much free memory there is the drive model and all that stuff so when it spotted there was a data mismatch it could have also given the message.
either way its nothin to worry about. if it starts happening often start worrying but otherwise it doesnt seem like a problem
I changed my harddrive like 3 months ago upgraded from a 40 gi to 500 gig and when i put in the new HD in my ps3 it said the harddrive or data was corrupt. What i did to fix that problem was I watched some Youtube videos on "corrupt harddrives" and there is this way to fix it.
Bottom line is ur HD isn't broken i thought mine was when I got that msg. Just youtube "new harddrive is corrupt on youtube" and you should be good. thats what I did...
