Buying ps3, need to know

So i'm buying a ps3 soon, probably from a gamestop.

Is there anything i need to know before getting one? Faults, extra stuff, anything like that.

I recommend waiting, because they might bundle the 40 gig with a DS3 rumble controller and so far only the MGS4 80 gigs are bundled with the DS3.

The 40GB has wifi, no need for network cable.

Yes online is free.

As mentioned above, if you have an HDTV with HDMI grab an HDMI cable. Don't spend more than $35 on one though.

get 80 gigs , if they got a used 60 gb ,, id get that over the 80 gigs ,,, , it has the emotion engine while the 80 gb dont , therefore it achieves bc by emulation

Both 60gb and 80gb will play PS2 games. but not the 40gb....

As others have said, get an HDMI cable asap. Don't wait and don't buy one at retail. You will overpay dearly. AND DON'T BUY ONE FOR $80. Fight the madness.

I haven't used monoprice.com but I plan to. They are mentioned frequently as a good place to get hdmi cables. You can get a cable there for approximately $4 to $9depending on length. Don't even pay $35 for one.

Make sure to buy the 80 GB bundle that comes with MGS4 and the dual shock controller.

buy and HDMI cable from monoprice.com if u have an HDTV

also a 40 gig is a great deal if u dont care about ps2 games and r short on cash

otherwise the MGS4 bundle is the best value even though its a bit more

$100 more and you get:

double the harddrive space

great backwards compatibility

a dual shock 3 controler

metal gear solid 4

memory card readers.

Listen if you don't want MGS4, sell it on craigslist for 50 flat as new and it'll go really fast and easy. Then you still get all those extra features for only 50 more. trust me this ia an important investment and you don't want to cheap out.
