I will probably never buy a Call of Duty game again, especially after the Infinity Ward debacle. I feel nothing but resentment towards Activision, who are shamelessly milkingconsumers again with a £54.99 RRP for Black Ops. They also seem determined to run this series into the ground, as apparently,Sledgehammer games will be making 2011's instalment.

My enthusiasm for this franchise is at an all time low. Where is Modern Warfare 3? Does Sledgehammers involvement highlight just how bad the situation is at IW? And if IW were to develop MW3, would it actually be any good? (considering the majority ofstaff have left to form Respawn).

When its Treyarchs year, I usually grit my teeth and play it regardless. I find their attempts solid but very uninspired (Call of Duty 3 / World at War). And before Nazi Zombies gets mentioned, it was a Left 4 Dead knock off.

This year I just cant face the tedium. I know I'll be in the minority here, but Black Ops can get to f@ck.

Just buy the game used to get back at them and you can enjoy the game as well.

£54.99 wont be the price, it will sell for £45, £5 extra just like MW2 did. at shops like GAME, HMV. And they will keep rasing the price because millions of people will buy it.

I'll be buying the game for £25 at Sainsburys, Tesco or Adsa on release day. Finish the SP mess around with the online and sell it fr profit like i did with MW2 last year.

lol good idea fighting fan.And Hoax: no-one will actually sell it for £54.99. Like you say, it'll sell for £45. But an RRP of £50 means it usually sells for around£40. So they are taking that little bit more once again.

Yeah I was surprised MW2 went cheap so quickly, especially as MW1didnt drop in price for 2 years. Gotta love those supermarket price wars!

Glad im not alone here. Its hard not to be cynical when COD is released with such depressing regularity.

Well i come to realise that call of duty just isnt worth it anymore when MW2 came out...im not gonna be suckered in like the other 20 million other people. If you are like me and see that there are much more deserving and quality titles coming out this year like mafia 2, gran turismo 5, fallout new vegas, Then join ACTIVISION SUCKS GORILLA NUTS CLAN! a group of elite people who realise that activision no longer know how to make a quality product and fail at being a company because kotick has no business sense at all! :P

I'm there! Sounds like my kinda group. As you say, there are many great games comin out, as well as Crysis 2, Dead Rising 2, Deus Ex:Human Revolution and LBP2. And with any luck The Last Guardian, and HD re-releases of ICO & Shadow of the Colossus. But that may be wishful thinking. Fook Black Ops!

People that say they aren't gonna get it will eventually cave and get it anyways. Its easy to lie to yourself on internet forums. I guarantee like 90% of people that hate on anything CoD over the internet will get it. I hate Activision too, but I'm not gonna deprieve myself of a potentially good game just because some people over the internet claim they'll never, ever buy it when they actually do. And if it really does suck, sell it or trade-in and move on, at least you can truly say you didn't like it.

Thats just me though :P

The word is that IW are still making MW3 and Sledgehammer are making an "adventure FPS" spin off. Plus there's the talk about the MMO. Not to mention the fact that Black Ops' multiplayer doesn't even look balanced. Kotick needs to leave. Now.

well i will be picking up black ops im sure, just to see if they have created a decent game there, its looking promising but we will see. I personally prefer battlefield 2 to mw2, but because all my friends play mw2 i find myself on the game and enjoying the craic. thats what gaming should be about, it should be about the fun, not what this developer and that developer is doing....

COD is a pretty decent game (single player wise) but it just seems to me that on harder difficulties that you just get random grenades and no one is actually looking at you but you are getting shot sometimes.

Sorry but people need their FPS fixes and Black OPS looks to fill that need. I have been playing the heck out of MAG and it been passing the time well enough, but its not really the greatest FPS ever made by any means so will be looking for the best FPS of the fall, which after seeing the MOH and peoples reactions to the multiplayer beta its probably going to be Black OPS. I understand your frustration, but these are just games nothing more.

That is true. I'm not pulling any punches, I'm definitely going to buy Black Ops. I was SUPER stoked to see the multiplayer teaser trailer and can't wait for the full reveal on Sept. 1st. I do agree that CoD has fallen into the whole "Madden Exploitation", giving fans of the game a slightly improved iteration yearly. Granted, CoD often has more to offer in it's yearly iteration than Madden, but both companies are banging out as many titles in the series as possible to pull in as much money as they can with as little changesbetween titles as possible. And trust me, I do HATE Activision, mainly for what they did to Infinity Ward. They destroyed the development team that not only gave them Modern Warfare, but created the CoD series for them. Why did Activision do this? Greed, pure and simple. I have no doubt that Infinity Ward was owed royalties and bonuses, and Activision didn't want to pay. So, they fired West and Zampella, the heads and co-founders of Infininty Ward. If you look at the contract online, and the timeline at which they were let go, they were fired mere weeks before they were due their bonuses and royalties. Sadly, even the folks who stuck it out and stayed with Infinity Ward have still yet to see a penny of what they were promised. I hope Activision not only loses a ton of money in the lawsuit, but loses money on CoD sales, for getting rid of their best development team over greediness.

I guess so...and if you really wanna get pedantic, Resident Evil was an Alone In The Dark knock off. Inspiration can always be traced back, but it really pisses me off when people harp on about Nazi Zombies, as though this mode alone redeems a mediocre experience.

And I appreciate its easy to 'lie to yourself on internet forums', but I'm not that delusional, and I wont be 'caving in' and buying this.

W@W got a rental, and within a week the single player had been battered, Black Ops will almost certainly be the same. I never said I won't play the game, too many of my friends will be getting it so it's inevitable that at some point, I will play it. But I object to lining Kotick's pockets any more.

As SS4YA wrote, it shouldn't be about what this or that developer is doing, but sadly, that seems to be the case with CoD now. At least in my experience.

Yeah I'll be getting Black Ops too. I have like 100 bucks of Amazon credit anyway. Then I'll use the rest of the cash on KZ3 or LBP 2.

I mean the little fookers that hide in a glitched wall, or in the floor. and winning is fun..but loosing to pubescent teenagers who camp on it all day..my loss i guess. lol to gt5, made me laugh. love it when things get taken out of context! coincidentally i am getting it.

Lol. True, true. I wonder if we can trace all the way back to the first zombie game. Probably on the Atari 2600. I firmly believe that this game actually sold copies on just that zombie part alone.

Would be interesting to know! And without a doubt it did.
