First of all welcome to the PS3 board.
And to answer your question, yes that would work perfectly fine.
Yes, you can connect the ethernet cable to PS3, but it has to be directly linked to your modem or router, not computer.funsohngHow much would one of those cost?
If you can activate your PC's network port and setup to route to your Internet side then you could use a Cat5 ethernet "crossover" cable.
You be better off using a ethernet hub/switch tho..
You didn't say if your PC is connected using CAT5?
O have no idea hwhat that is :?If you can activate your PC's network port and setup to route to your Internet side then you could use a Cat5 ethernet "crossover" cable.

i am assuming you currently have an ethernet cable going from your computer to a box from Verizon (this is your modem). In order to connect multiple devices to a single modem, you need an ethernet hub or switch. Most modems have a switch built into it. Look at the box, if there is more than one ethernet port on the back, then it has a switch built in. Just connect your PS3 to one of the empty ports and you are good to go. jj42883nope it plugs in via usb, and it reqieres a computer program. is there a way I could plug a router into the back of a computer and then plug the PS3 into the router, or kould I plug somthing that gives out wi-fi, and connect the PS3 wirelessly;
Huwai(or somthing like that) ec228Wait, so your modem is connected to your computer by an UBS cable? Most modem are connected with the ethernet cable, so this is a little weird.
Give us the make and model of your Verizon modem, I'll do a little research.

You can get ICS to work if you only have the option of using a PC, also this would have to have 2 connections either 2x Ethernet ports or 1 and a wifi link(Or in your case 1 ethernet and a usb link to the modem)...
Edit: just read you connect to the modem using USB which is good, this means the ethernet on the back of your PC is free and can be plugged into your PS3, now you have to just connect it to the ICS(Internet Connection Sharing) on your PC which will use your PC as a router. Heres a guide to help you set this up: Here
Thanx, I'll try it Monday as I'm at my Gparents at the moment.You can get ICS to work if you only have the option of using a PC, also this would have to have 2 connections either 2x Ethernet ports or 1 and a wifi link(Or in your case 1 ethernet and a usb link to the modem)...
