When i send my playstation 3 in to get fixed can keep my hard drive because it is removable please help i dont feel like talking to a stupid operator. yasutora_uchiha
If you have replaced the stock hard drive (20GB, 40GB, 60GB or 80GB) with a new one (i.e. 250GB), then you will have to put it back inside your Playstation 3 before shipping it off.
If you still have the regular hard drive that originally came with your Playstation 3 inside, then you should be all set to ship it off. If you remove it and send the Playstation 3 in without it, then Sony will not perform repair services on your Playstation 3.
Sadly, all your data will be wiped when they repair it, so if possible, please try to back-up your data before sending it in.
I have a 60GB PS3, and am about to ship it off due to the "blinking red light of death." I turn it on and then it turns right back off. I removed my hard drive and with the hard drive removed, it still does the same exact thing. I have not spoken to Sony, I did everything online and the shipping box is supposed to be here tomorrow.
Since I am unable to get the PS3 to stay on, not only can I not get out my copy of Resistance 2, but I also could not back up anything before it crashed, so should I call Sony and ask them about the hard drive situation, or should I just send back the whole thing?
This is my first time sending it back. I purchased this unit right around Christmas time at the original launch. I would hate to lose all my save data.
