Is that possible?
If so, how would you do it?

yeah but I dont reccomend it or at least, you should see if all of your games dont have a problem with that. my cousin made a copy of his GTA file and he had A LOT OF STUFF unlucked and game progress at like 95%. then he deleted his user cuz he was bout to sell his PS3 to get other one of 80gb. when he pasted the data on the new ps3 and he attempted to load, the game gave a message "ERROR, this data does not belong to this user" so try it first, create a new user, make the copy, paste the copy in the new user and try to load the file in that user to see if theres no problemIs that possible?

since i would like to save my demos, purchased games, save data, game data etc. i would rather use an external harddrive, since no flash drive can save that much baggage, (well im sure theres som bigger flash drives but whatever, i would rather keep everything exactly as it was rather than downloading it all all over again)Yes you can, I backed up all my PS3 files to my Bytestar USB Flase drive when I was switching harddrives.

Not all games let you do it, which kind of sucks. I want to buy a second PS3, and I don't want to have to re-download everything. Oh well.
does this apply to external harddrives when backing up data? (swapping my harddrive)
am i bound to lose some data, for simply updating my hard drive?
