on a 20.1 inch monitor?imy monitor will only do 720p its a lg 20.1 pc monitor that has hdmi and i have my ps3 hooked up to it,and 360 in the vga.the reason i ask is i downloaded the tmnt trailers in hd and hd 1080 full the difference i noticed was in the rating writing,it seemed a little more pixly than the full hd one.
will this effect games and movies as well?or is it just the clip's?i thought your tv had to be over 30 inches to notice?thanks for any insight.

If you have a HDTV below 42inch you dont need 1080p, you ant going to see any differents in the picture. 720P is good upto 42inches, the higher you go the more the picture starts looking more pixy and thats when your going to need 1080p...

Edit:

I waiting a my new HDTV to be delivered today :D

20" is to small to see any difference between 720p and 1080i never mind 1080p for 1080p you need a tv at least 50" before you see any difference and for 1080i at least 37-40".

it depends... if your set it 720p native, 720p will most likely look better regardless; same for 1080i. i know my LCD 32" 720P TV does not scale too well to 1080i; you can see far more jaggies.

the visible difference between the various resolutions is dependent on screen size and your distance from the tv. there's a chart in the link below.

We have a 26" Samsung 1080i CRT in the bedroom. It doesn't display 720p but I can see a difference between 480p and 1080i on it.

Right on. I feel that alot of people are being fooled ino buying a 1080p when really 720p is going to get the job done for what we are using it for. Even at 50in, the differences we are going to see are miniscule.

yeah like everyone else here said... under 40 inches you'll be hard pressed to notice the difference between 720p and 1080ip. I'm about to get a 32 inch LCD and im going with the Samsung 720p set... looks great and got great reviews on consumer reports

If they haven't done it yet, I'm sure you will be able to eventually, but it would be a waste. It would be having 1080p on a 20 inch monitor just for the sake of playing in 1080p. HDMI is going to be around for awhile, and I can't see any reasons not to get a 720p TV if it's under 50 in. I've seen them next to eachother, and at 40 some odd inches, You cannot tell the difference between 1080 and 720. they look identical.

Uh.....NO THEY DON'T.

Maybe for a game like Crash Bandicoot they do, but not if you play something like Resistance or Warhawk.

Stick to progressive if you can. Even if it means a "lower" resolution. I'd take 720p over 1080i anyday.

And to respond to the TC question, NO DIFFERENCE 720p/1080i at 25" or less. Stick with 720p.

Yes, but only if your sat like 2 feet away, your not really going to tell a difference between 720p/1080p on a screen smaller than 32inch from more than a couple of feet away.

If you want 1080p either buy a screen 40inch+ and sit around 6 feet away, or buy a monitor around 24-30 inches and sit 2-3feet away.

you'd only notice the difference if you were two feet or less from the screen. That's REALLY close.

Thats wrong. 1080p at 37" will be more or less the same as a 60" at 1080p, its just the distance you have to sit away from them that counts.

No you wont. Thats just simply wrong. 1080p at 37" is just fine, if you sit at the right distance away from it.
