You don't press any buttons....it's random....Your dmw chances aren't high enough if you're never getting anything.

Think they are just ther for fun.... or a little extra story knowledge. I'm guessing one of the cutscenes has to do with a cell phone game that never left Japan, as well.... Because it made no sense to me.... the one that ends with a picture of two swords.

Much later in the game.... like near the end... you can buy materia that improves the chances of activating certain limit breaks, but only if you open the chest. ...heh. (the chest is kinda hard to miss, though.) You may be able to create them, too, but I have no idea what needs to be fused.

The cutscenes seem to affect the percentage on the DMW menu.... but I doubt it does anything to the game or the reels themselves when they are all set to 100%. Summons go to 100% as soon as you activate them... most likely because they have no story cutscenes.

The DMW makes the combat sequences more enjoyable but I agree I think it's totally random. I tried pressing every button on the PSP when the characters are rolling across the screen but nothing happens. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. The DMW frustrated me when I was fighting that monster in the bathhouse because it would pop up over and over again but not give me anything. It's all chance.

The images and cut-scenes are supposed to represent zacks memories... supposedly when you see the images, the more you see the more likely you'll score a limit break... and the cut-scenes (these can be skipped) are 100% to score a limit break
