Sony states that one of the reasons they're scrapping hardware backwards compatibility on European PS3s is to reduce production costs and allow a future price reduction. I've decided a long time ago that i would get a PS3 at launch but now this is making me think twice about that. All this less backwards compatibility is not an issue to me (i'm keeping my PS2 anyways) but a possible price drop in a few months is. I don't want to pay 599 euros next March to find out later that the PS3 will cost less in few months. If i knew for sure that they would drop the price a few months after launch i would probably wait.
I just want to know what do you guys think about this: Do you think there's a high chance of this happening? Or will this price drop happen only several months down the road?
