Yeah that's the general intention of almost every movie. And I'm pretty sure it didn't do that bad. People were just upset with it because they thought, at the time, it was going to be what turned out to be Advent Children. I liked the FF movie. I watched it a few times over when it was on HBO.

first off christian bale would be an awesome casting decision, I thought he was great in batman begins, and 2nd if they were smart the plot would be exactly like MGS1. It's already so cinematic and compelling. I hope they do that, because even tho movie-goers would know how it would play out, it'd be incredible seeing it play out. lol, totally, this movie would be the best movie ever made if they got Bale to play Snake, i just hope it doesn't turn out like Doom, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, or any other horrible movie game adaptations. of course with Kojima writing, were pretty sure it'll kick some major 455.

Snake without David Hayters voice is nothing to fans , for ppl that even dont know what is MGS it makes no difference who will play Snakes part.

As for Bale being as Snake its ok with me , as long its Hayters voice :)

Bale is one of the best actors in hollywood, among Hugh Jackman (The Fountain), Eric Bana (Black Hawk Down), David Hayter was good in that Guyver movie, and by consideringBale, it gives tremendoushope to the movie BUTTTTTT I wouldnt want him to play Snake b/c he already plays BATMAN with that dark husky voice, so it'd bereally simmilar to that character. After that we're left with Matt Damon, Leo Di Caprio and Gerad Butler (300) so lets see who wins the title of SNAKE!

i know who has the perfect snake voice, that guy who played the captain in alien resurection, who got killed pretty early on, he has a really gruff voice, however he is too old to play snake, allthough he kinda looks like him too.

christian bale or hugh jackman would be a good choice, nothing againt hugh jackman, but christian bale is the better actor though.

the machinist is one of my favourite films and christian bale is amazing in that.

I can't see anyone else directing the movie besides Kojima. Bale is ok, but he needs to beef up. Hayter would be a great fan service, but I don't think he has the acting chops. I think Gerald Butler would be a good choice, check it:
