No way GoW 2 can be better than MGS 4. Microsoft is releasing every exclusive game in a hurry and it doesnt turn out to be that good. Even X360 came out real fast... Oh yeah. It's their problem they made it gears of WAR. Couldn't they choose something else? They even copied the name off sonys' exclusive game.

As much as I love MGS4, I did doze off a few times during some of those long cut scenes. Its gets to be a little too much. we are playing a game not watching a movie. then they give you pess X or L1 out of no where. but you miss the chance to hit the button because, you are half asleep or put the controller down. so yes I can agree with C's commit.

The day we stop trying to write good stories in games an just turn them into brainless frag fests is the day i will stop playing games.

i agree- a game which sucks you into a world of impossible possibilties and allows you to believe it AS WELL AS providing extremely rounded, deep characters with marvelous dialogue ALONGSIDE the detailed plot/character development AND managed to smack you around the face with a great emotional impact is definatly a passive game.

I just do not understand why people play gears. not only do the controls stink so bad, but the cover system gets in the way wayyyyy too many times to be called good. i agree Gears of War is a Fun Game it has pretty good controls In my opinion however the story is pretty bad but its still a fun and Great game in its own right.

i dont think its a trend dude. theres alot more casual gamers today, and most of the casual gamers just want action, they dont care about a deep storyline. im in no way saying that those games are better than mgs4. actually mgs4 is one of the best games ive ever played. and if u read the article, i dont see it as cliffy putting down mgs4, all hes saying is he doesnt want to make gears the kind of game that mgs4 is, meaning having alot of cutscenes that are really long.

Passive is the opposite of active. The way MGS4 develops all those deep detailed character and story lines is to have you sit and watch, without really playing the game. Ok you do get the occasional hit X to see a millisecond flashback that takes away from the story at hand. it sounds this loud signal and picture so you missout on what was being said. Or the hit L1 to get FPV of what snake sees. I would say (altho I have not timed game play vs cut scene time) the cut scenes are the bulk of the game. you don't play as much as you sit and watch the game. the game really is passive at hart, I know you guys will defend it to the end. but just look at the MGS database, nuf said.

I will say I do like MGS games and it was a nice send off the the series. It would have worked better as a movie game combo or something.

It depends on what he ment by MGS4 being passive. But yeah I do agree, GeoW in a lot of ways redefined how 3rd person action should handle so there' s no need to bash that game because of what he said about MGS4.

Trends tend to repeat, sometime sports games will be in again, and plataforming, and what not, every genre has its time, now its time for shooters, the great think about mgs series is that they have standed longer than most of the series :) can u imagine a gears in 15 years? halo?resistance? as a clear proof that this IS a trend, almost every game that is succesful its made into a trilogy :)

Cliffy B says chainsaws are the way of the future. More chainsaws, less story. Also, where chainsaws just aren't enough, flamethrowers will pick up the slack. I think you're able to name your chainsaw this time around to give it deeper character. I also heard somewhere toward the middle of the game the chainsaw and flamethrower share a romantic scene.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Sure, it was a low-blow by Cliffy B. but alls fair, in love and war. Cliffy B. isnt a joke, he's another genius in the video game industry but of course, not in the likes of Hideo Kojima, at least not yet. I disagree on all the PS3 fanboy comments. Gears of War is a great game, not just another marketing gimmick or "brainless shooter." Play it first before you start dissing one of the best games of all-time. What is true media? What is the correct game to create and market? There is none.. by saying that you just narrowed down the gaming industry to only stealth games like MGS. So get it into your heads, MGS isnt the only game on this planet. There's plenty of room for other great games. I find it hard to believe that some of you people say MGS is the best thing ever and that every game or every other game like Gears of Wars sucks - but I bet you you're probably playing it day in, day out.
