Isn't it a whole lot better to have more than you need, instead of not enough?
Plus, if you download HD movies as well as full games such as SOCOM from the store, that 80GB will fill up pretty quickly.
in the legit world there isn't much to do but in the ...........forget it......Starscream35Shhhhh Big brother Sony is listening LOL
they coming out with a 160, its if you like to download games movies and music alot, i dont to mch,so the 60 is fine for meI haven't event taken up more that 15 gb on my ps3, yet Sony sells an 80 GB model (which i own).

It's for HD quality Video mostly. I've used all of my 60gb, then I popped in a 1 tb. I'm good for awhile.MorbidToasteru have a 1tb ps3? u use external hdd?
I thought when I bought my 60 GB PS3 that I would never use that much space. After one year it was over half full, and I popped in a 320GB HDD.
You will need more than that, developers seem to love putting sh!t in our hard drives. Games like MGS4, Devil May Cry 4, GTA 4 and Bioshock take at least 4.5 GB EACH ONE, thats around 18 GB in 4 games!!! that sucks so hard man!! I have like 40 PS2 games but that dumb hard drive feature is going to stop me from buying even the half of that.
Also, every game has an update every once in a while, there's also Download Content and Firmware updates.
I own a 40gb PS3 with an attached 750gig external hard-drive. Is 80gb unnessisary? no way. ive already filled about 20gig of my PS3's hard-drive with game saves and installs alone. I have about 200gig of movies and music vids on my external hard-drive and am always adding more.
The amount of space which come on my PS3 was never a big deal coz from day 1 i knew id b attaching an external hdd 2 it.
well, I have to have a few games installed at a time, plus about 3GB worth of rock band downloads, lots of hi-def videos, a music collection to play in games with custom soundtracks (mostly burnout and wipeout), several demos and lots of downloaded games and I'm down to under 10GB on my 60GB.
I'd want to buy a bigger hard drive if I was going to start using the PSN Video Store at all or buy big games like Siren.
80GB isn't nearly enough.Scianix-BlackQFT.. i filled up my 60 gig the month i got my PS3.. my 60 is usually at least in 20gb of fluctuation every month.. i'm gonna get a 320gb as soon as i can.

Your complaining about too much space? seriously? How does having extra Hard Drive space affect you. For Sony its more expensive to invest in 20/40/60 GB hard drives, because they're dieing sizes, as in all laptops now are offering atleast 80GB. So if you think Sony can sell a smaller hard drive for cheaper thats not the case. But if thats not why your concerned, then WHY are you complaining, because other than the reasoning i just gave there can't be a logical reason to complain about too much hard drive space.
And matter of fact, yes everyone needs more space, b/c people install games, listen to music, watch videos, on their ps3's ... i have to keep deleting and filtering things on my 60GB cause it is always full, I'm just waiting for the right time to invest in an upgrade.
I don't know much about getting an external hard drive. Where can you get one and are they all the same(provided there will be differences in sizes)?
all you need is a SATA 2.5 in 5400rpm (7200 is okay though) with at least and 8mb cache... you can get a 250gb for about 80 bucks.americahellyeah
is it possible to get an external hard drive. one that you hook up to the ps3, like you can do on pc? i'm not good with this stuff, if you could explain, i would be grateful.
