Wow, wow, wait a minute. So, they don't have any co-op what so ever and no splitscreen? Come on, EVERY FPS in my opinion should have splitscreen. anime_gamer007I agree, especially online splitscreen, such as Halo 3.
No co-op for a highly anticipated game like Killzone 2 will hurt its review scores slightly. But I do agree that COD4 is still one the best MP games out there and it has no co-op.
I feel that Killzone 2 would be better off having co-op (even if its offline only), rather than not having it at all, but I guess you cannot get everything you want with any game. The point is I believe that Killzone 2 should have co-op, but I also think that it wont really effect the MP, and its sales to much.
[QUOTE="navstar29"][QUOTE="gamer082009"]Yea, I'd definitely rent this game first, how many games like this have we seen touted as amazing and turned out to be total duds? Reminds me of when people thought Heavenly Sword and Lair was just beyond anything we've seen before, and we know how those ended up. So renting KZ2 is not a bad idea at all.PSP107Right because online multiplayer carries no substance in terms of wanting to keep the game for a longer period of time. And your calling Heavenly Sword a total dud, you clearly haven't played it? Oh wait you don't even own a PS3. quite odd Heavenly Sword doesnt have a jump button
Bionic commando didn't either and that was a good game.
This game is already a no buy for me because of no offline multiplayer. Developers are really missing potential sales.PSP107offline mulitoparyer is that great anyways, and coop is that great niether

And to "navstar29", I played Heavenly Sword and it is a dud. And I did OWN a PS3, and I'm not going through what I did to it, because it'd be way off topic. On topic though, KZ2 lacking Co-Op is strange as a game like that should have a crucial component such as co-op but it doesn't. That's all I'm saying.
COD4 has not co-op what so ever and we all loved it. Why in Gods name are there ppl complaining about it not having co-op. If GG feels that it would not work a co-op in it, then maybe they are right. If they turn out to be wrong, then we are alowed to complain after the release and that we have finished it. Other wise, zip your lips shut and try it for yourselfs to prove me wrong. Karaami dont understand ppl like u, ppl would of been sold of the game if it contained common features such as 4 player split-screen and now Co-op which is now the new rage it seems.

I normally love co-op merely because it's fun to experience a game with a buddy... However, I think Co-op is often an unbalanced experience... I havn't played R2 yet, but I can imagine that they are the only company (or one of) that has done co-op right -- built it from the ground up so it's balanced and fair. Most of the time, dev's normally throw co-op in which makes the game a lot easier, and there is normally no downfall besides maybe more enemies or slightly bigger maps which doesn't make it harder at all. I will agree that I can see single-player a good, if not, better experience than a co-op would do.
So instead of being to play together at the same time on the same PS3, they want you or the other person to also buy another PS3 and buy there game again so you can play together in the online multiplayer only. Disappointing.one_on_oneThis sums up how I feel about it, as well. Whatever the excuse given, I feel let down with the lack of something as uniquely fun as co-op.

But the experience of a co-op playthrough is unlike any other; there is a lot of fun to be had soaking in the experience alongside a friend.

meh, it might be patch but if not it doesn't matter No Co Op didn't hurt COD4Nonstop-Madness
Yeah, maybe or may not, but it's gonna be an awesome game. im gonna have fun anyway.
I doubt the scores will suffer, or if it does then the reviewers really have problems. You can't dock points on a game because its lacking something which no one has ever said would be there. "dam, killzone 2 doesn't come with a hersey's bar, 2 points off!!"PSdual_wielderAre you kidding? Of course a game can be docked for not having coop. If the reviewer thinks it should have been included then you better believe he will bring it up as a fault of the game.
The only reason I've ever done co-op on any game was simply for the achivements/trophies you can get for it. When it comes down to having my friend next to me to play split screen it isn't that fun. The game usually is really squished to fit and draws you out of being immersed or visually stunned. One person out of you two will be good or bad which leads to someone getting mad if you guys do poor at some point lol. What really isn't great about every game's co-op is being unable to fully customize the control schemes for each controller if your friend is just signed in as a guest at your house. R2 almost does that, but you can't have one controller with inversion and another without it.
However you cut it, playing through a story in co-op is something you do about one time only for the lure of a trophy or achivement. I do however think that more games need to impliment co-op modes like R2's co-op or Gears2's horde mode or COD5's nazi zombies. Those are pretty fun, but will get stale after a while or the trophy/achivement is achieved so it would be nice to see the game developers take the approach of making it have longevity while not losing its fun factor.
Now if you buy a FPS for co-op and that's what sells the game to you, then you are dumb consumer. Sorry to say, but that should never be the reason you BUY a shooter game, because developers don't focus all their time and strengths to make that the big eye candy of the game. The big seller will be its online components and the story. The story actually comes second to the online, because the stories purposes are usually to entrench you in a unique universe they made and get you used to how the game operates to make that transition to online.
Wait for the reviews if you are hesitant about dropping the 60 bucks on this and of course don't pass up going to a friends house or renting it to give it a try yourself. If you are looking for a FPS to sink your teeth into for the next few months or even more, then Killzone 2 looks like it will really deliver, but then again so did Gears 2 and we all know how that played out lol. ;)
hmm, split screen will make the game more amazing, then throwing it away trust me lol, look at halo 3, perfect dark zero red steel , vegas-2 player , um what else
perfect dark duke nukem 64 goldeneye 007 , quantum of solace-wii time splitters 1-3 all of these games and more have succeeded because of its robust gameplay options, available,
kameo added a 4 player mode, so ya, cod2 and 3 have split screen 4 does i think , moh series, has it , so dont say kill zone wont be amazing with it,
fps were revolutionized with that option well any game has had success with the option since goldeneye007 so dont even say a word of that nature ,
killzone may be good without it but with it, its near perfect, red steel and timesplitters 1 has stale single player, multiplayer is where these games have shined since, people say bad controls, well oh well its a launch game, that said, kz2 better have split screen, or that will be the end of fpses as we knew it,
period, sony and nintendo always brought us split screen so dont say it wont help mayn ot be out of the box but ps2 had awsome 4 player support, so did gc, xbox did to, im not sure about resistance or resistance 2 but im sure kz has split screen
as most last gen fps does
lets compare shall we, agent under fire suffered from not being able to have bots in ps2 version, thus lower reviews then the gc and xbox versions, and playin the game first hand i gotta tell you their right,
fps without split screen and bots=a bad one especally if it aint gonna last me 20 hrs in single player,
fps with split screen and a good sp mode, =a perfect one,
fps with split screen but not as detailed mission/sp mode-still good,
see what im gettin at, the last one would be timesplitters the 2nd 1 would be goldeneye007 the first is , prey, those are examples,
ge =perfect ts-still good prey -awful,
Co-op Split Screen main campaign isn't neccessary.
A split screen mode with co-op online and offline, like GeoW 2 "Horde Mode", would be just perfect though!!!
I really don't understand why some of the maps couldn't be played split screen outside of the main campaign just like R2!!!

Yes exactly, if it does impact the experience, which clearly it won't. There are a lot of games where single player would indeed hurt if there is coop inserted which would disrupt the experience. From everything I hear, this game is about the graphics and audio and chaos, which partly I don't personally believe can be the entirety of game but however, which if you have a party of friends over and you want to show off this game in your home theatre its probably best to let it stay on the complete area of the screen. If you want to hear about reviewer's opinions, or any opinions for that matter, how about this: splitscreen coop would only be fun if you and your party of friends just wants to screw around in the game and shoot random stuff. Games appropriate of split-screen would only be LBP, CoD5, or the R2 coop where the story doesn't matter. And I don't see anyone complaining MGS4 or GTAIV didn't have coop. Of course not, these games aren't meant to have co-op.

Who decides what games should and should not have coop? Only a reviewer can make the decision. Also KZ1 had coop so it isn't that big a stretch of the imagination that reviewers will be disappointed with no coop in KZ2. Also adding the option would not hurt. Make the graphics worse if your playing coop or whatever but at least have the option. Seriously I think devs are just lazy. Online gives them no incentive to do anything local and coop is becoming less prominent.wow....
and that wow is not directed towards no co-op,
rather to the whiny ones complaining..
warhawk has no single player storyline.......... NO SINGLE PLAYER STORYLINE!
now that was something to be worried about,
but i STILL actively play that game :D
one of my favs
no offline co-op??
it's all about the online multiplayer now, with built in wifi why wouldn't you focus your attention to that aspect?? it would be foolish not to
offline was for the previous generations

So what's wrong with online split screen? I don't want a co-op campaign but local split screen multiplayer would rock (think Horde Mode in GeoW2) and who wouldn't want to team with your bud sitting beside you on same tv, joining an online match!!!...Droool!!!

2 Things
1.I dont get it, FPS games today have u fighting along side A.I. It was always ood to me why these games cant be controlled by another human.
2. lol@ Co-Op messes up the story. Personally i think stories in video games are HORRIBLE with the exception of MGS1(PS1 1998)
A kilzone team member was interviewed on a podcast and a question about 4 player split screen was asked. 4 player is not in bc it will reduce the experience. Basiclally he means reducing the game LOOK which is bs considering CoD WaW has 4 player split screen . oh well no buy for mePSP107thats just wrong.
