I have had my ps3 since Dec 07(40 gb) and now that that my game collection has increased so has the extremely loud fan noise, everytime I buy a new game the fans seem to go extremely crazy even more during gameplay, now at this moment when put in games after 5 mins the ps3 is at its loudest.

I have tried moving it in different locations, even in different rooms and the same problem is there, placed a fan behind it and there was no diiference and its quite getting to me now seeing it was going on for quite a while.

Despite this I have never seen an error message displaying that the ps3 maybe over heating, or has the the ps3 shut down as it still runs very smoothly, not even a simple glitch or a game sticking up have I seen. Is anyone else experiencing similar problems out there, is there anything else i can do?

P.S I live in the Caribbean where it is extremely hott, maybe thats the problem.

If it's really hot the PS3 must activate its fan so it dosen't overheat.

Placing the PS3 near some good ventilation, far from heat and far from sunlight would really help.

Maybe putting a fan blowing over it could help too.

On hot days you can get the fans active quite fast, shouldn't be a problem though, just place your PS3 in an open space, on flat service(shelf/desk/table), and you should be alright.

Also, if you play on, usually the fans ease off, it just needs to get rid of the initial heat.

I think you should be alright, especially since you're not experiencing any other issues.

And the extra fan-noise when putting in a new game, is because the game is caching

make sure you keep it dusted and use an air can to blow out the dust at least once a week.

Don't worry if the fan activates unless the noise really bugs you. It won't do any damage to your PS3. Have you tried playing in an air conditioned room?

The fan going on means that your system is working properly to keep your ps3 working. I wouldn't worry too much about the loud noise that it makes (only that it gets annoying).

Well I have no air-condition and gets annoying especially at night (which only happens with one game) when the house is quiet

Here is third place where I have tried the siituation, but I think this is the last straw

I suggest putting the PS3 somewhere alone without anything that can make heat or block air near it.

Well I've had it an open area already and it doesn't make a diference, I basically think its just where I live and amount heat there is. Right now I am actually sweating, it is extremely a very hott day today.

I live in quiet a hot country too and in Summer it used to turn on its fan but after a while it turns off on its own and then starts again after some time. But now that we're approaching winter, and cooler temperatures it dosen't activate its fun as much as it did before.

cool...... well we don't have any seasons here so its always hott, but as ppl stated earlier I should not be worried once the system is working smothly.
