Okay, to start off...I really am new at this and I really appreciate any help or anyone who takes the time out to do this for me, and please no sarcastic or stupid jokes or remarks. If your going to do that than why in the hell respond? But seriously, I need help...I have a 360, it RROD'd on me, and my mom is completely pissed how they want me to send it in and still have to pay shipping to do so because they sold me a system that was faulty and its however not my fault, which is very true. And I see her side of the argument, why in the hell buy a system they know will die? Almost 400$ freakin dollars down the drain and she was heated and says if your paying that kind of money, the damn thing should work, regardless...and Microsoft is pissing me off aswell, they send a used system to someone they wronged, which can still die all over again, and she says she thinks I should get a ps3 because theres been no complaints besides game library, which doesnt cut enough to make the argument resolved on the fact that the xbox 360 is indeed, a piece of hardware crap, and I love my 360, but im not going to be praying that it will play properly, you shouldnt have to pay all that money just to hope something will work and not die permanently...So its time I get a reliable system that is indeed more powerful. I need some specs detailed to me and reasons...first off...

I am a internet player, I love multiplayer, how does the PS3 work on that? How does it work? Can you send messages and chat with people alone? I heard it was free too...that is one good reason right there lol, paying 50 a year to play online is bull*. Specially when the Xlive shut down due to overcrowded servers...Idc if its got a million people on, I paid for the damn service...they have no courtesy whatsoever.

Are the games going to expand? And is the ps3 truly more powerful than the 360?

Can the ps3 die? Or RROD (opposite)?

Is it sturdy? Is it hard to break?

Please help me...seriously, this will decide my choice to get a ps3, cuz I want one cuz my friend got one after his xbox was stolen, and said it was fire. Way better....Im getting one this weekend so help me.

The ps3 has a less failure rate then the xbox like not much at all, it can occasionaly freeze but thats due to some games. You can do the same thing like chat with people or send messages you can use either a usb microphone or bluetooth headset, same as for a keyboard usb or bluetooth. But you cannot send messages while in game unforunatly, internet on PSN is great ive had no trouble really, servers work fine just as good as xbox live IMO, and it is FREE!!! theres also same games on xbox and ps3 though some are exsclusive to both like upcoming MGS4. And if you love internet a lot warhawk is incredible to get and cheap, if ya got anymore questions hope on and to tell you about my ps3, ive had it on since february running and i'm talking not turning it off at all, and works great still!! hope this helps!

The PS3 multi is the same as the XBL except we got no achievements(yet). Personal messages while playing with the person? no. You can talk to your friends but not while in the game(for now). Games will expand. No comment on the 360 vs PS.

PS3 can die, if you cover the ventilation.

I wouldnt know if its sturdy and i dont want to test. When my PS3 drops, ill let you know.

Watch the "smash my PS3" video on youtube.

As you can see, it took many blows from the sledgehammer to take the corner of the casing off. It is still intact though.

You don't have to worry too much about physically breaking it

I haven't turned my system off for some time now and when I'm not using the system I leave it folding (this is a very power intensive program). I have never had a problem.

Failure rate is extremely low, great games out and still coming out, online is functional (free) and more features are still coming. It's great, I know you will love it!

Depends on the game......oblivion has better graphics in the ps3 than in xbox and uncharted is currently the best looking game for the ps3 but I never play it.

The PS3 has a great line-up of exclusive games coming up:

-Metal Gear Solid 4

-LittleBigPlanet

-Haze

-Killzone 2

-Resistance 2

-Final Fantasy XIII

-Final Fantasy Versus XIII

-White Knight Chronicles

-Heavy Rain (I have faith in this despite no info)

-Next Team ICO project

-Home?

-Afrika

-SOCOM: Confrontation

-God of War 3

-Grand Turrismo 5

-Motorstorm 2

-Next Jack and Daxter? (please Naughty Dog :D)

-Next Uncharted game

-Ratchet and Clank 6 (FToD had a damn cliffhanger :()

...and many more which I am too stupid to remember atm :)

There is also a strong lineup available right now with amazing exclusive titles.

This is not including the fact that there will be more announcements and more games with sequels.

And now for the non-fanboy response.

Sorry to hear about your 360. You WILL miss it. If you decide to go ps3 exclusivley, here is what you need to know.

There are some great exclusives...but not a lot.

There are some great multi-platform games. You pretty much get everything you are use to with the 360...save for a few poorly done ports...but that is happening less and less.

Online is nothing like you are use to with Live. You may be initially dissappointed. Everything you take for granted with Live is missing in action with the ps3. You can get use to it, but the main thing you will miss is the sense of community...a managable friends list with all the easy in- game communication features completely missing. You will feel isolated. Thats how i feel with psn anyway. I have had the ps3 for over a year now and i have very few friends that actually communicate compared to the dozens i have on Live. This is the biggest difference by far. Some third party games lack basic features such as chat or even friend invites ( try playing GH3 online with ps3, you will see what i mean. )

But its free, and its getting better over time and some games like COD4 play really well on ps3.

Im not trying to insult ps3...i love mine, but when you are use to doing things a certain way, and suddenly you cant do those things anymore...you may have some regrets.

ps- i have two PS3...they always work great. They work quietly and are very slick machines. My nephews ps3 did break on Chrismas morning...it just would not turn on anymore after he tried to update it. Everything breaks or can break...but it does not seem as big a problem with the ps3.

This person has a few points that I will agree with. But you have to look at the pontential if you are going to compare the two consoles online. The PS3 has unpresidented reliablity, a library of great exclusives (Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Haze, Uncharted) that will keep you busy until other greats come out (MGS4, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, GT5). An old friend of mine from the Killzone days (yes online) resently bought a PS3 after owning an Xbox for a few months. The first thing I heard out of his mouth was "THIS THINGS SO QUIET" followed by "If I didn't see the display I would think it was off".

PS3...Its a very reliable system. Has a 1year free warranty. Yes, it is more powerful than the 360, lemmings won't admit this though. As of right now, it has an inferior online system. But, when Home releases it will be the superior online system.

Dude, PS always have the best games...just because it having a slow start don't mean it won't have good games. Unfortanetly for the 360, its going to enjoy the better line-up for ooo...i say somewhere around June 12th...Bottome line after 08 and 09...PS3 will have by far the superior game line-up.

And I agree...the 360 is just faulty and horribly made. My bros 360 crashed...got a new one from MS...crashed again. That was the last straw made quick change from it and got a PS3....Now theres 2 in this household.

Yeah, its not like the other system where if it drops and you see all the screws pop out and hear the junk rattling inside. No Radio shak parts here

achivements for xbox 360 also draws me into the game a bit more

ps3 is fun but the only thing i use it for is to play final fantasy and kingdom hearts :P

serch for the towl trick on youtube

its stupid converting to a whole new system because your old one is faulty

its cheeper to send it in

The journey to becoming a ps3 fan

Hi, I will put my thoughts in this wonderful thread. On May 06 I bought an Xbox 360 with ghost recon 1 after a couple of days playing it, it began to freeze randomly.

A couple of months past and I bough the saints row game. After playing that for a while. Fast forward to around feb/march of 07 and the game just didn't work anymore. As soon as i load the actual game, it froze after a minute of gameplay ALL the time.

Note that all the above are warning signs of things to come: read below.

After buying forza 2, as soon as i put it in my 360 BAM 3 rrod for the first time(note when i say first time).I sent it back to MS and it took then 5 yes 5 weeks to send it back to me. So now i have a refurb and after i applied the spring update BAM 3 rrod AGAIN! Now fast forward another 5-6 weeks i receive yet another refurb(around July the time now) and as soon, and i repeat as soon as i switch it on BAM again 3 rrod.

I send it back again, got a free game and a free controller for compensation and waited another 5-6 weeks. I got it back in time for a big party I was hosting in September. Guess what? It worked wonders. Would I say that two weeks later after receiving it? Nope 3 rrod again LOL.Another 4-5 weeks past and its now October and whoa they send me actually fixed the refurb they sent me in September so let's fast forward to 2 weeks ago when gta just came out. Guess what lads. Another 3 rrod LOL.

Have you counted how many times it's messed up? I lost count at this stage but I think it's between 4 and 5 times.

That is why as soon as I went out shopping I bought a brand new ps3 with gta4 and I am now a happy camper. I really wasn't planning too but I got one anyway and after 2 weeks of playing it, I ask myself this question "why didn't I get this instead of a 360?"

Besides Xbox live, the ps3 imo is better than the 360. It is more reliable, ALOT quieter , free online play blue ray, upgradable hdd that doesn't void warranty, folding at home and teh ability to install Linux in it plus lots of exclusive games coming out this year shuch has MGS4, little big planet, socom, etc

No1 in their right mind would blame me for ditching the 360 and this story I just told you could happen to you. You got maybe a 30% chance of this happening to you and that's a big figure. Half of my friends have had their 360's die at least once and if you check my gamertag on LIVE I have over 40 mates there.

I own both systems. I have to let you know though right now that I am not a fan of the 360 I will not pay to play online. I wish I would have invested the money I spent on the 360 into my gaming pc. Because that's all the 360 is a crappy gaming pc. Now for the ps3 it doesn't have every thing you would expect it to have to stay in touch with the friends you have online but, you will be pleased at the great things it can do. http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/sony/ I can rip blu rays watch blu rays play sweet games like the ones I own… uncharted, Devil may cry 4, Unreal Tournament 3 (With Key board & mouse Support!!), ninja gaiden sigma, Folklore, Grand Torismo 5, Turok, the only problem I have with the ps3 games is that I don't have enough time to play them. I am a computer gamer at heart so I would tell you to build a gaming pc but a cheap solution to a PC would be a PS3. I am a network engineer and have seen ps3 used to increase net processes to 20+ T-flops a sec in a cluster. it's a tank. I haven't used my 360 in months. Hope this helps

I made the switch quite awhile back when the ps3 truly had "no games" even then, i had a blast with it. Now that there are numerous games i enjoy it is even better and there is still alot more to come. I didnt need a RRoD to get me to switch, i just knew which system was better and more suited to the games i like.
