The problem here is you feel like you're entitled to a gift just because it was your birthday. You should feel lucky that you're parents haven't completely taken away all forms of entertainment and social life from you after grades like that.

You really don't care at all about those grades? I would be having a fit if I had even D's, but you got a couple F's and you're concerned about a PS3? You need a reality check, man. Don't you want to make something of yourself? I don't mean to sound harsh, but a PS3 should be the last thing on your mind. Just because it's summer and you had a birthday, your parents don't "owe" you anything. You owe it to them to whip yourself into shape, get your grades up, and then worry about other stuff.

If you're really that concerned about it, like other people said, get a job. But please, do not lower yourself to trying to make your parents feel guilty in order to get you a gift after a performance like that. That's just low, and you really need to rethink things.

Actually they literally have taken away all forms of entertainment, all im allowed to do is browse the internet on weekends.

I don't think you should rely on your parents to get you a PS3. With you being 16, I think you should start looking for a job and save up for one. You'll appreciate it a lot more if you pay for it with your own money.

[QUOTE="muller39"][QUOTE="avataraang1"] A belt is what I would have gotten. The metal endScianix-Black

i would of got the wooden spoon

lol People still use that?

My mom always grabbed whatever was closest to her when she got mad.

Like one time she broke a plastic candy halloween trick or treat bag thing over my head.

Yeah my mom always grabbed what ever she could get her hands on as well, but she just whipped the objects hard at me, as opposed to actually coming up and hitting me with it.

Education should be the first thing on your mind without education you wouldn't be able to afford your ps3. Do good in school its worth it and remember your parents will not always be there so its your responsibility. Once you do good in education you'll be able to buy a playstation 7 then if u get good paying job like 50,000 a week then u can buy video games.

probably not, the PS3 would just distract you from studying and doing your homework next semester. Unless they take it away from you.

Tell them that the PS3 is not gonna be just for you but for the whole family. Tell them about the video service and movie rentals and all that stuff. Also promise them that you are going to work hader and get better grades next year.

[QUOTE="lxlHIMlxl"]

Well im 16, in my sophomore year of highschool. My grades have been very bad this year, a few D's, a couple F's. But i really want a PS3. School is about to end in 10 days and my grades for the last quarter arent that great either.

The only thing i have on them is that they never bought me a 16th birthday present, they gave me an "I-owe-you" Also since school is ending, there shouldnt really be a reason why they cant just buy me one, its not like its going to effect my grades. Also i have about 340$ so i can easily pay for the majority of it.

So under these circumstances how should i try to get a PS3?

dude get your grades up or you will never see yourself on a university campus and during these times jobs require a degree of some sort first i would focus on your schoolwork.......then a ps3 live isnt all fun and games

* Not to sound harsh, but I am going to tell my opnion truthfully...

You really should be embarrased writing that on here. Seriously man, your getting D's and F's, and your complaining about not getting anything for your birthday. I SEE WHY you didnt get anything, with grades like that, you don't deserve it. And you sound like you really don't even care. You will have a sad life working at McDonalds the rest of your life if you continue this way. And really, if all you think about is getting a ps3 right now, you need to speak to someone. This is coming from a Full Time College Student/ Army National Guard soldier/ROTC cadet. Serisouly, i love my ps3, but I don't just give up in school and expect to go somewhere in life with D's and F's. If I WERE YOU, I would just be happy to have a roof over my head, food on the table every night, and a place to sleep at. And if you tell yourself, "I can work during the summer BLAH BLAH BLAH", how about taking summer classes and making up all those failed classes so you can actually graduate on time. Jesus Man, wake up and smell the coffee, its called life, and in about 2-3 years, its going to hit you in the face when you realize what you could of become and have nothing to show for.

There are more important things in life than game systems, like SCHOOL.

I think he needed to hear that. But honestly, as much as you may hate school and all that, it's what gets you places in this world. I play my PS3 a lot more than the average person, but if I have assignments due, they will always get done. I just finished my freshman year of college and was on the Dean's list both semesters. I think you have some shaping up to do before you get a PS3, more less having your parents buy it for you.

Wow, I was reading through all the posts and it actually gave me motivation (Especially the college/military/aircadet guy) to do better in school too! (Junior in HighSchool)

I myself had to plead my parents in letting me get a PS3. Let me tell you, it was hard for them to budge. Took me a while to get the guts to tell them about it because I thought they would just turn me down. I had to promise them an 89 avg (We don't use GPA in CAN) and that my marks wouldn't fall. I'd feel guilty as heck if I didn't meet that goal. Time to hit the books again ....

TC, PS3 is fun and all and "now" but if you don't get your act together you'll have tons of time playing your PS3 when you're living your parents basement at 30.

Why not offer them a compromise?

First off, if my kid had grades like that, there would be some serious issues. I'd laugh in their face if they came home with a report card like that and asked for a PS3.

Be serious about school. Just keep your mouth shut, save your money, and do well in school.

If you can make honor roll or get real close, ask your parents if you can have the PS3. Odds are, if you make honor roll or get close, they'll be happy about your progress and they'll buy one for you. Then, with the money you've saved, you can go out and buy your own games. That might be the best bet.

For everyone saying to pull my grades up, I am totally aware this is the best option. However there are 10 days left of school and it's literally impossible. How do I get it by or in the summer?

lxlHIMlxl

And exactly why is it that you MUST get one now??? Please tell me your emergency situation that requires you to have a ps3. Its your spohmore year, you still have your junior and senior year left. How much more time do you need? Like I said, if you ever get bored in the summer, pull your books out and read. And if that doesn't keep you occupied, watch the history channel. (This is what I did, and boy, did I learn alot just from just watching that channel.) And if your still bored, cut the grass, take the trash, do the dishes every single day (without asking for any payment), and trust me, you'll get it.

And just to help you out, if your thinking of going to school (college), keep in mind that the minimun you must have to be competitive for scholarships are 3.0 and higher. (At least, the major universities). Some schools won't even accept you if you have failed classes. So jump to it...and if I were you, I wouldn't get too happy about a ps3 right now.

FOCUS ON SCHOOL!

Make a promise to your parents that you will bring your grades up next year, and if you don't they can take the PS3 away from you. It would let you get what you want and give your parents some bargaining power.

It just depends on his circumstance. I know when I was in high school, I would do badly because I just didnt give a rats ass about school. I had a gpa of like 2.7 or something like that and still got into a good college. I am majoring in Biology/Pre-med and I have a 3.8 gpa after my sophmore year. I was never motivated in high school and now in college, I am more motivated than ever. I dont know if the topic creator cares about school or if he is just dumb. Its about motivation to study and getting good grades and doesnt have the right mindset about this. He says that he will tell his parents that if he gets his ps3, he will improve his grades. Hes doing it for the wrong reason. He should improve his grades because he wants to instead of doing it for the ps3.
