OP, if you are trying to make a comparison between modnation racers to Mario Kart, that is just an automatic fail in your part, you are tryng to compare a brand new franchise that looked appealing (but lacked a lot of interest to many) to a prestigeous franchiase that has been around for a long time and loved by many. It makes sense why Modnation Racers unfortunately didn't sell well... Plus i think it being released (what was it last month?) was a big mistake as there were other big games coming out near its time of release.
Now you mention it - i havent seen it in any of the catalogues that come out. Odd. Shoulda been on wii for all the nintendo heads. Its on the wrong console. I dont know anyone who owns a ps3 who would enjoy a kart racer - they are all mature gamers who are into the more violent games. The only game like it i know everyone loves is LBP but thats such a unique game. Plus its pretty boring going around in circles over and over again - unless its a game like gran turismo. Even with all the great reviews it still didn't interest me at all even after playing the demo. Only thing that annoys me about the sales are when a dev looks at the generic sales of a FPS and compares more unique stuff they wont bother with the unique stuff because generic things these days sell more so they might just pump out the same old junk and sell better. Well thats my opinion anyways. And obviously alot of other peoples if sales are like that.
Another thing I cant understand is why do devs keep trying to not add in installs? Most people have big HDD's now ( 250gb + ) so we have like 100+gb left to use up and games come out without even optional installs ( this would negate the people's arguements who have small HDD's who dont have room ) so we have to sit thru huge load times ( the entire reason ps3's all have hard drives ) its so annoying. I actually get annoyed when I find out a game has no install and get happy when I hear its like 4gb ( runs so fast - look at batman arkham asylum - loads so quick ) Ive said it before - optional installs should be like trophies, all devs should have to put them in games like uncharted , god of war ect, if they choose to not put a mandatory install in the game. They could also make it like PSHOME where you choose like 1gb,2gb,3gb - all the way up to like 10 gb.

Yeah, I'm totally cool with the optional install. I've been playing Bayonetta recently and before I installed it the load times were pure torture. Everytime you picked up an item you had to wait for its picture to load on the screen. It was ridiculous. After I installed it, however, it hardly misses a beat. load times are great. If devs can cut the installs AND the loading then that's great, but if I had to choose to accept one or the other it'd definitely be installs.
I'm not surprised by this. They should have sold it much cheaper and I guess the bad publicity of the online lag probably affected sales, who knows. I'm still going to get this by over the holidays. I really like the customizations in this game. Hopefully by the holidays they have all kinds of new stuff for it in the game.
I was very suprised to go 2 a mates place and see he had purchased modnation racers. Not because i didnt think it would b a good game, but because it had so little advertisment i didnt even know it was anywhere near being released yet. I played it with him an had a crack at the map editor, and must say it is very good. I am not goin 2 pick it up however seeing as i have 3 games i am currently playing and really need 2 finish them 1st. 1 of which is fallout, so i should b occupied a while
Hey, at least it sold better than both Blur and Split/Second (even when you add up the multiplatform sales for those games). Racing games, outside of the few established franchises, tend to have trouble selling. And for three new IP racers to be released at the same time? I'm sure it didn't do any of them any favors.
Well no one was hyped for that game, I certainly wasnt, that game looks like crap. Anyways its kiddy kart racer, no one really like those on less its Mario kartRTUUMM
Hate people like this that think just because something is "kiddy" it sucks. Man-up and play LBP/Pokemon/MNR. They're great. LBP is the best game this gen.

Doesnt it also take stress off the console's optical drive? It would be alot better - god of war has some loading issues and when you first load Uncharted it takes forever. Modnation racers definately needs one. Killzone is also a big one that could use with an optional install. I also think some games need much bigger installs like resistance 2 - 300mb is not enough. Overall SONY making all games with mandatory optional installs ( EG trophies ) would be sweet.
